6 Sunscreens For People That Hate Wearing Sunscreen

different types of sunscreen

Because I get it– not everyone likes the sticky, goopy process of wearing SPF…

I get it, I get it.  Most people hate the goopy, greasy feeling that traditional sunscreen might have…and let’s not forget that lovely white chalk residue that sometimes happens, too.  The chalky color actually annoys me the most as a pale human; like, do I really need to look even more white than I normally do? NO.  That said, I always rant on and on and on about the importance of wearing SPF (yep, every day) and, luckily for us, modern technology as allowed for beauty brands to continue product development for decades in order to create new versions- we’re talking oils mists, gels, powders…oh my!  Here are six of my current favorites.

Have you guys tried any of these? Tell me your favorites in the comments section!

Clinique Virtu-Oil Body Mist SPF 30 sunscreen

Clinique Virtu-Oil Body Mist SPF 30

It’s called “virtu-oil” but this body mist is actually oil-free, making it perfect for all skin types.  I love how lightweight this version feels and it absorbs really quickly into the skin, making it perfect for those last minute “oops, I need to apply SPF” moments.

Supergoop Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil SPF 50

Supergoop Sun-Defying Sunscreen Oil SPF 50

This sunscreen oil is super luxe, and while this version is actual oil, it’s still lightweight and chock full of argan oil and meadowfoam to help with any dryness.  The scent is also something to discuss because, well, I love it.  There’s a blend of pomegranate, citrus, and calendula that makes you feel like you’re at the spa when using this stuff.

Kate Somerville UncompliKated SPF 50 sunscreen

This baby is a two-for-one. Not only does this spray give you broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection, but it also works as a makeup setting spray!  The fine-misting aerosol spray dries down quickly to instantly set makeup, reduce shine, and provide a matte finish and soft-focus effect. Hyaluronic acid provides lightweight hydration, while light-diffusing silicone powder blurs and softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles.  Also, it kind of smells like gin and I love it.

Julep No Excuses Invisible Sunscreen Gel for Face SPF 40

Julep No Excuses Invisible Sunscreen Gel for Face SPF 40

This version from Julep is my current every day go to!  It’s completely transparent (i.e. NO white chalky residue), fast absorbing and since it’s gel-based, it doesn’t feel goopy or greasy at all.  You can wear it under or over makeup and, personally, I love using it on my arms since it’s so silky and clear.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this SPF!

Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 45 sunscreen

Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 45

I blogged about the plus factors of keeping mineral SPF around before and this version from PTR is yet another reason why. The talc-free, transparent matte SPF 45 mineral powder comes in a travel-friendly brush tube and works instantly to block out the sun’s harmful UVA/UVB infrared rays. I keep one of these in my car since this is the only form of broad-spectrum SPF that won’t break down with prolonged heat exposure!

Coppertone Clearly Sheer Whipped SPF 30

Coppertone Clearly Sheer Whipped Sunscreen SPF 30

The idea of a “whipped” sunscreen is 100% one of those “how did no one think of this before?” moments.  I have to say, my first thought about this product was “wow, this is especially gonna be awesome for my nephew, who HATES wearing sunscreen.”  The rich and creamy formula feels super luxe when applied and goes on fast and absorbs quickly.  Plus, it kinda feels like you’re applying whip cream all over you, and that’s just plain FUN.
