VIDEO: My West Hollywood Apartment Tour

This video is looooong overdue but I’m glad it’s finally here!  You probably saw the photo tour of my apartment (and I hope you also saw the green dresser DIY), but I always feel like things really pop in video form; plus you also get to hear my ramblings about certain pieces and why it was chosen, haha.

Make sure to also subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss any new videos as soon as they come out (I posted this one a few days ago)

Links for every product featured can be found HERE.

Oh, and by the way, I’ve made a few updates to my West Hollywood Apartment since this video was shot!  Next week I have two posts that show my new bed (it’s THE BEST- seriously). Also, a collab with a professional organizer! Yep, that’s right, what my bathroom/product closet looks like in this video is no more :). It’s honestly and truly amazing so make sure to check back to see the changes…

My West Hollywood Apartment Tour

woman sitting on her couch for an apartment tour

It’s been almost one year since I moved into my new West Hollywood apartment and it’s crazy to think about how long it takes to decorate a home (especially when you’re a little slow with unpacking, like I am, lol.)  Tha said, when I decided that I wanted to really invest in new pieces for my best apartment yet, I reached out to an interior designer friend of mine who I always thought was insanely talented.  Dee Murphy has an innate knack at mixing patterns and color, which I knew I wanted, and she was excited to take on my apartment with me!  I shared my home decor Pinterest board with her, along with a quick convo about things I like versus things I really don’t like, etc. and we were off.

The awesome team at Joss & Main were also nice enough to give me most of the pieces in my dining room, as well as some pieces for my living room and bedroom!  I was excited to work with Dee to select pieces from Joss & Main, specifically, because I’ve always felt that they have a really great (and huge) selection of items that match a ton of different styles.  In my mind I wanted  a Jonathan Adler meets The Parker Hotel Palm Springs kinda glamour, which we totally got with the living room, but then Dee challenged me a bit to expand my style with the dining room and bedroom…and Joss & Main was honestly a great source to go to first.

What do you guys think?!  One thing Dee really taught me is that decorating is kind of a forever thing.  Meaning that just because you buy something for a specific spot, it’s common to realize after the fact that it looks better somewhere else.  I’ve actually moved many things around even since we shot these photos!

Make sure to come back soon because I also have a separate blog post planned to show how I did two DIY projects (one including my green bedroom dresser) and I also plan to show my bathroom (hello beauty stash) and kitchen via video! 🙂

Side note: Glitter Guide featured my apartment as well, along with tips from Dee and I on how to maximize a small space so make sure to check out those tips!

AND Dee just posted her own tour of my apartment, including some insane “before” shots from right when I moved into my apartment!

Drybar West Hollywood Does It Again

Confession: if I could only have one beauty indulgence for the rest of my life, it would be blowouts. I wrote about LA’s Drybar back in April 2010 when the first store opened in Brentwood and crazy enough, my obsession proved to be quite popular. The downside? Brentwood. Anyone who lives in LA knows about how much the traffic totally blows and as a Hollywood resident, I nearly fainted when I found out that Drybar was opening a West Hollwood location!

Finally! The WeHo location is less than a mile from my apartment and get this- there’s a FREE PARKING LOT behind the salon. It’s the little things, ladies. I stopped by the WeHo location before my friend Justin’s surprise 30th birthday party a few weekends ago and got yet another amazing blowout. There’s something about Drybar that just makes me happy. The decor is absolute perfection, they always play some fantastic girly movie (past movies include Clueless, Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You, etc.) and the stylists are super sweet and actually listen to what you what you’re saying which can sometimes be rare in stylists.

Barney’s New York and NARS Pre-Fall Celebration at Soho House West Hollywood

I will never say no to a party at Soho House. Plain and simple.  Add in one of the most decadent stores ever (Barney’s New York) and one of the best makeup brands of all time (NARS) and there’s not even any room for negotiation.  Barney’s and NARS partnered to celebrate the pre-Fall collections and guests were treated to an amazing Q&A with Francois Nars himself and Barney’s Fashion Director, Amanda Brooks.

The event was held in one of Soho House’s private rooms and we got to listen to Francois discuss his vision for the brand as well as hear Amanda discuss Fall 2011 fashion trends like rich burgundy’s, greens, teals, lady-like details and unconventional hemlines. And hint, pointy toe heels are definintely back.  I’m also loving the NARS pre-Fall makeup collection (pictured above) because how amazing and rich are those colors?  The blue eyeshadow is seriously intense, in a good way.

Not the best photo but NARS makeup artists where available for touch-ups and I attempted what I like to call “the starter bold lip” using NARS “Manhunt” lipstick, which I’m now obsessed with.

Gwen Stefani is the newest face of L’Oreal Paris!

So I don’t have to remind you…if you read my blog, you know about my Gwen Stefani obsession.  Well, the queen of red lipstick has just been announced as the newest face of L’Oreal Paris and more specifically, the face of the brand’s new Infallible Le Rouge long-wear lip color.  SO gorgeous.

“I can’t believe I get to be one of the L’Oreal Paris girls,” Stefani told People.com.  Gwennie is joining the ranks of other Hollywood A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce and Eva Longoria, who all also serve as faces of L’Oreal.  “To get to work with such a modern, talented group of people is really exciting.  I’m a lucky girl,” says Stefani.  Lucky indeed, Gwen.  Lucky, indeed.

The first commercial featuring Gwen will air during the Golden Globes this Sunday so stay tuned.
