Getting To The Root Of The Problem

root touch up products

At 31, I now have TWO root issues to deal with. And no, I don’t mean the many ways my parents f*cked me up, I mean brown roots to my blonde locks AND grey hair.

My hair, though fine, has always grown fast…which, sure, is definitely a good thing but it’s NOT fun when you regularly dye your hair blonde, since that basically means you need to get your roots touched up every 3-4 weeks.  Not fun, I tell you.  For years I’ve just let the brown come in a bit longer, waiting around six weeks in between color, but now that I’ve got an army of grey hair planning their hostile takeover of my forehead, I can no longer wait a full six weeks and let me tell you, I’m not happy about it.  So what do I do?  Here’s my plan of attack and three products I use to wait as long as I possibly can to get my roots touched up:

TouchBack Touch Up Marker: This is my go-to, especially when I put my hair up in a pony tail before the gym and am greeted with a patch of grey hair that I didn’t expect I’d ever see.  It comes with a little comb that you use to apply the marker and, even though the color isn’t an exact match to my hair, it definitely DOES cover the greys and blends them in.

Rita Hazan Root Concealer: This spray takes a little getting-used-to but I do really like it.  It actually works for both color roots AND grey roots but I mostly use it when the brown starts taking over my head.

Color WOW Root Cover Up: Finally, this is the newest root cover up product in my arsenal, this is war after all.  I was skeptical that a powder, that also happens to look like eyeshadow, would be able to do the job but OHHHH, it does.
