The Monday Rundown

Rosemary Roasted Almonds: I always snack on almonds but this recipe takes them to another level.  I’m also obsessed with rosemary, btw.

Kiehl’s Orange Flower & Lychee Liquid Body Cleanser: I’m a big Kiehl’s fan and so naturally I was super excited when they sent me products from their new Aromatic Blends collection.  They’re all delicious but I especially love this exotic fusion.  Who doesn’t love lychee?

Sole Society Ryder Block Heel Sandal: At first glance I usually don’t like a thick, block heel like this but after seeing them in person, I’m really into the whole python mixed with patent look.

Jonathan Adler Prozac container: Jonathan makes the kind of home decor that I covet (along with a million other people) and I especially love his quirky, kind of ironic decorations such as this Prozac container.

The Monday Rundown

Ashley Duncan Black & White Heart Bangle: I’m always a fan of the black and white combo.  This bangle, currently available for pre-order, is such a cute addition to my jewelry collection.

NARS Thakoon nailpolish in “Amchoor”: Yellow is “so hot right now,” as I’m currently always saying.  I’m loving this whole collection, available May 1st.

Cinco de Mayo Pinata Cookies: When I saw these on Pinterest, I nearly fell out of my chair.  Read the directions and see if you’re up to the challenge…I’m currently begging my baking-friendly friends to make them for me.

Lee Industries Linen X Bench: I’ve been eyeing this bench for a few weeks and was reminded of it tonight while watching Girls.  The hilarious virgin cousin had two white versions lined up as her coffee table. LOVE that idea.

Pier 1 Hayworth Pedastal Table, $170

10 Tips to Glam Up Your Apartment

Ever since I moved to LA two years ago, I’ve been way into decorating my apartment.  Naturally, I didn’t have a job when I moved here (I mean, duh) and so I had to be pretty resourceful when it came to purchases and cheap and chic little tricks. Michael Craig, interior design expert and founder of Dinette.com, shares his 10 budget-friendly tips with us below on how to glam up your apartment on the cheap.

1. Less is More.  Take away unnecessary items that distract the eye from the main event.  De-clutter.

2. Jazzy pillows.  Add some pillows to spice up your boring sofa.

3. Orchids.  Orchids always add class to any apartment – make sure to water accordingly and watch them spread cheer.

4. Add a shiny bowl to your tabletop – nuts look great in a glitzy silver bowl.

5. Put a runner on your tabletop.  Not only does it protect, but it also adds charm and style.

6. Candles.  Adding the opportunity for a romantic moment is always classy.  Go easy on the scent!

7. Edit your framed pictures – too much is too much!

8. Live plants.  Putting a live plant in your home is never wrong – but proportional size is key.

9. Rugs and runners.  Add a runner or rug to give warmth to your space.

10. Dimmers are key – mood lighting always helps controls the ambiance.

The Monday Rundown

Last week I debuted “The Monday Rundown” with my latest dress obsession and a birthday cake in a jar among other delights.  This week I’ve put together a list that I think just might top the last.

Rebecca Minkoff Foxy Cut-Out shoes: These immediately caught my eye, for obvious reasons.  The photo actually doesn’t even do them justice because you can’t really see that the wedge is actually cut out.  LOVE.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream: If you read the new issue of Lucky magazine, then you saw my girl Maura’s rave review of this stuff.  She’s not lying.  As I’ve said a million times, I’m so not a lipstick person…but this Lip Cream truly is an amazing hybrid between gloss and ‘stick.

Pier 1 Blue Terracotta Frame: I’ve always been a sucker for a gorgeous picture frame.  I really love the color of this one and the unique design makes it a great birthday or hostess gift for a friend.

Flowerpot Cakes: Like I mentioned in the last Monday Rundown, I have a weird obsession lately with unique cakes.  This one is awesome because it actually looks like a flowerpot and would probably fool most people.  Oh Martha, you’ve done it again.

NEST Fragrance Diffuser in Moss & Mint

So lately I’ve been buying candle upon candle and I’m always looking for the next best thing in home fragrance.  There’s something just so relaxing to me about sitting on my couch with the fire going and a delicious candle burning at the same time so when I came across the NEST fragrance Diffuser, I was super excited to check it out.  I’m sort of new to the whole fragrance diffuser trend but so far I’m very impressed.  The scent I’m loving?  Moss & Mint.  It’s a combination of garden mint, apple blossom and muglet infused with a touch of oakmoss and vetiver.  It’s just extremely elegant and I loooooove the bottle that all of the NEST fragrances come in and each fragrance diffuser lasts for about 90 days, which is much longer than any candle will last.

On a side note, NEST is created by Laura Slatkin, of Slatkin candle fame, because she wanted to create her own collection of prestige home fragrance.  You know what I’m thinking?  Best housewarming gift ever.
