MAKE UP FOR EVER just announced the launch of its first-ever mobile tour, designed to bring education to consumers in anengaging way, teaching them how to actually do their own make up, not just have it applied. I like this already. You may remember this ramble from back in April when I visited the LA store. I really like how the brand makes a true effort to educate their customers and actually teach you how to use their products properly instead of just trying to sell you more products.
As part of the Make Up Bag Remix concept, MAKE UP FOR EVER’s team of professional artists will take a look inside consumers’ make upbags and teach them how to properly use what they already own, regardless of the brand, as well as overhaulproducts that are the wrong shade or texture. They’re basically bringing the same techniques used by wardrobestylists in the closet to style consumers’ make up bags at their innovative mobile Make Up School. The idea is tomake your make up bag work harder for you.
Consumers are invited to book appointments for 30 minute one-on-one make up bag evaluations inside the MakeUp School, where a professional artist will go through their bag, provide an interactive, hands-on lesson explaininghow to apply their products, and show them how to supplement what they already own to create their most flatteringlook. Each client will walk away with a new make up bag, a custom face chart detailing how to use the products theybrought, and a list of any additional products recommended by the artist to round out their look. A professionalphotographer will also be on-site to capture each client’s “after” look, which will be uploaded to an album on theMAKE UP FOR EVER USA Facebook page. Love this. Make sure to check out MakeupBagRemix.com to see if they’re coming to an area near you.
I try a LOT of beauty products and yeah, a lot of them are really good…but every once in awhile you get a group of favorites, and here they are:
Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream: Structural support is monumental in preventing wrinkles—picture, if you will, a standard mattress. When it’s brand-new, the coils are tight, the elastic is firm, and the mattress is soft and smooth. But, after years of use, that same mattress sags and wrinkles. This cream nourishes your own “mattress” -your skin, and keeps it firm, smooth, and moisturized, thanks to the lovely copper ingredient.
Phyto Revitalizing Shampoo: I used this shampoo for the first time today and was immediately wowed. It’s said to improve the density and luster of temporary thinning hair with this unique combination of botanicals, preparing the scalp for Phytocyane Treatment. Gingko biloba and cinchona bark energize scalp and stimulate micro-circulation while grapeseed procyanidins combat free-radicals and protect the hair bulb. Hair becomes fuller, thicker and more lustrous, even after one use, as I proved today.
Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation: Lately I’ve been really into liquid foundations but after going to an event in New York where the makeup artist used this on me, I was SOLD. The best thing aboutthis powder foundation is that it can be applied dry (for a full, matte finish) OR wet (for a sheer, satin finish). Seriously.
I’m so into primers these days and, after trying this version from Tarte Cosmetics, I’m totally obsessed. The Clean Slate 12-Hour Perfecting Primer is in the most adorable packaging (obviously I’m already sucked in) and my skin actually feels silky after I put it on. I LOVE that feeling. And even though I don’t have particularly large pores, I do appreciate the fact that this primer really diffuses fine lines and lasts for up to 12 hours…cause really, there’s nothing worse than catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror around 8pm and realizing that your makeup is ALL OVER your face, and not in the spots that it SHOULD be.
You probably read my first post about Mary Kay’s Hollywood Dreams Makeover contest but if you didn’t, click HERE. Once I get re-introduced to Mary Kay, I pretty much became hooked…all over again. The Nourishine plus ™ lip gloss? Amazing. I’m literally walking around with the “Rock ‘n Red” shade in my purse and I love that I wear it for both day and night. But when it comes to night, I always focus on the eye and lip. For my last girl’s night out, I used a full face of Mary Kay products and I was super happy with the results; the Lash Love™ mascara (another favorite) is a deep, awesome black and it doesn’t flake off, which is so key when it comes to mascara. As soon as I walked into the bar, two of my friends instantly commented on how my eyes were “really popping” and wanted to know what I used. The answer? Mary Kay.
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Mary Kay but all opinions are 100% my own and I would never feature a product that I don’t genuinely love!
There’s one thing that I’ll never turn down, and that’s a free blow out. L’OREAL is one of those amazing beauty brands that’s basically involved with anything major and cool so when they invited me to their pre-Emmys beauty suite at The Four Season Beverly Hills and then to the Entertainment Weekly party, I was stoked. I had my hair done in my go-to “loose waves, high volume” style, a fresh pedi and, of course, had my makeup done.
This is the makeup village it takes to get me ready, apparently. And a big thanks to April, L’OREAL’s amazing makeup artist (and my neighbor!)
Obsessed with their new Nail Lingerie and this amazing shade of red (for my toes) called “Red Tote”
My favorite new House of Harlow 1960 double finger (you know I love those) snake ring, c/o L’OREAL. Manicure by ESSIE and you can see more images from ESSIE’s pre-Emmy suite (and me making crazy faces) HERE.
