Secret Ingredient: Grapefruit

Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit Eau de Parfum Rollerball: I love rollerball perfume and this Fresh version is really energizing and delicious.

ORIGINS Gloomaway Grapefruit Body Souffle: I’m not super huge on body creams but this “body souffle” smells A-MAZING and the citrus scent is known to help boost your mood.

Kiehl’s Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit: When I was sent a bottle of this new fragrance, I was soooo excited to try it.  Not only because it’s Kiehl’s (and I LOVE Kiehl’s) but also because the idea of mixing Nashi Blossom and grapefruit just sounded like perfection to me…and it was.

Josie Maran Moroccan Argan Body Oil – Grapefruit scent: Everyone knows how good Argan Oil is for your skin but grapefruit-scented Argan Oil?  Even better.  It’s naturally scented to balance the mind, body and soul.

Burt’s Bees Refreshing Lip Balm with Pink Grapefruit: Packed with vitamins, this lip balm is hydrating and tastes fantastic.  Granted, I know you’re not supposed to eat your lip balm but let’s be honest…everyone does.

Stila Lip Glaze in “Grapefruit”: A staple in the Stila makeup line, the grapefruit shade of their Lip Glaze is a fun, frosty pink that’s not too pink, if you know what I mean.

C.O. Bigelow Village Perfumer Hand Wash in “Grapefruit”: I’m a sucker for a fancy hand soap and I do enjoy this grapefruit-scented version.  The bottle makes me think it’s from the victorian era and it’s not too drying on my hands.

Secret Ingredient: Honey

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Honey Bath: This contains pretty much every delectable scent in the world.  What’s not to love about cocunut, milk and honey?

Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong Shampoo: A strengthening shampoo is super important when you dye and use heat tools on your hair.  This product lines has claims that your hair will be ten times stronger after use, so I’m sold.

Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15: Such a classic lip product.  I love the combo of sugar and honey and I’m also really into the fact that it keeps my lips moisturized for HOURS.

Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey: I’m not usually a pomade girl but this hair honey is perfect for smoothing down the baby hair around my forehead and the scent is fantastic.

Bite Beauty Honey Lip Lacquer: You know I love my lipgloss/lipstick hybrids and this red is perfection.  Plus, the Manuka honey provides extended eight hour moisture.

Burt’s Bees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion: This lotion is surprisingly moisturizing thanks to all of the yum natural ingredients: milk, honey, vitamin E, coconut, grape seed oil, etc.  I love it, simply put.

Four Amazing New Beauty Products That I MUST Own

Bliss 2012 Election body lotions: Let’s first start off with the genius names (‘O’ bama orange and ‘mint’ romney).  Regardless of your political affiliation, Bliss will be handing out these lotions at upcoming political conventions and, starting August 27th (yesterday!), the body lotions will also be FREE for Bliss.com shoppers that spend $50 or more. Personally, I’m excited.

Corioliss The Mike Brush: I mean.  How did no one ever think of this before?  So brilliant.

Lady Gaga FAME perfume: I love Gaga so, of course, I’m pumped to smell her first fragrance.  It’s the first of its kind in fluid technology, exuding a black mist (“like the soul of fame”) once airborne.  Black perfume = genius.

NARS Andy Warhol Collection: Ok, so it’s not available until October 1st but you can see the full collection HERE. I can. not. wait.

Reader Question: Should I Conceal My Mole?

Question: Hi Jamie,

I’ve got a mole on my cheek that is medium in tone…meaning that if left alone, it looks more like a blemish than a beauty mark. What do you think: cover it up or color it in?”

Thanks!

“M”

Hi “M”!

That’s a great question.  I’m a big believer that moles are beautiful, as long as you get them checked yearly by a derm (in case they are cancerous).  If your mole has been deemed “safe” then I say embrace it and don’t cover it up!  However, if it really bothers you, there are some great concealers and brushes that can help camoflauge it.  Right now I’m loving Jouer Cosmetics Age-Repairing Concealer because it’s got vitamin A and other ingredients that help promote skin repair.  It’s also important to use a good brush.  I love Bare Escentuals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush, which is especially perfect for a mole since it will give you fuller, more concentrated coverage.

But before decide to cover up, try to think of Cindy Crawford…that mole made her famous.  And, if that doesn’t work, here’s a slideshow I found that features 10 hot celeb women with moles.

Xo,

Jamie

Reader Question: Vacation Makeup

Question: Hi Jamie!  I’m going to Hawaii…I like to wear makeup but don’t want to look done up.  What are my options?

“D”

Hi “D”!

Great question because that’s something that every girl struggles with, especially if you have problem skin (like most of us do).  Here are my top picks:

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Clear Self-Tanning Gel: Honestly, the easiest way to avoid wearing makeup is to “perfect” your skin…and going a shade or two darker is the best way to camoflauge imperfections.  I’d self-tan the night before you leave (after showering, shaving and scrubbing) to prep your skin.

ARCONA REOZONE 40: You can’t forget the SPF (cause I won’t let you!)!  ARCONA makes several good SPF products that are broad-spectrum (protects you from both UVA and UVB rays) and are also suitable for all skin types.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20: A tinted moisturizer is your best bet as far as foundation while on vacation at the beach.  This Tarte version is super light, goes on smooth and provides just enough coverage…bonus for the additional SPF 20.

Maybelline Volum’Express The Falsies Waterproof mascara: A little waterproof (very important!) mascara is just enough to make your eyes pop…no eyeshadow or eyeliner necessary in the sand.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15: This lip treatment is standard issue in the beauty world.  I love that it’s super moisturizing (again, with SPF) and also provides a light hint of color.

Have so much fun on your trip!

xo,

Jamie

What Jamie is…

I tweet a lot.  And, after seeing my girl Amber’s post on what she’s currently watching and listening to, I felt the need to share because this week has been REAL.  Side note, if you’re not already reading Amber’s blog, you should be.  So do it.

Here’s what’s on my radar as of right now…

Listening To:

Josh and Ross – Two of my favorite comedians (and, full disclosure- Ross is a friend) have joined forces in this new, hilarious radio show.  He said, he said is pretty accurate.  Expect lots of sarcasm and laughs…two of my favorite things.

Watching:

Sh*t Fashion Girls Say On The Internet – P’Trique is back!  And, he’s basically living my life.  Plus guest cameos from the Man Repeller and Rebecca Black. Win, sort of win.

Wanting:

YSL Devoted To Fans Palette – I use the term “pure genius” quite lightly but this is 100% IT.  Inspired by Facebook, yes, FACEBOOK, YSL (the brand still changing its name to Saint Laurent Paris) will release a four-color palette that is inspired by Facebook’s colors.  The palette can be purchased on YSL’s facebook page starting TODAY for $55.  Only 1,650 palettes will be released worldwide (and only 500 in the U.S.) so grab them up ASAP.
