Holiday Gift Guide: Gloss48

Gloss48

Even though I get a TON of beauty products sent to me to test, I still get giggly with excitement at the sight of a new product discovery.  And let me tell you, it’s rare for me to come across a brand that I haven’t tried or at least heard of…and now there’s Gloss48.  I was skeptical at first glance but now I’m officially hooked.  They basically scour the beauty universe to find new, innovative, must-have niche beauty brands and then feature them on the site for seven days with a discounted price (e.g. motivation to test new stuff out).  What did I find?  Well…I’m pretty excited and eagerly anticipating the arrival of this Skin & Co. Roma body set that features TRUFFLES. Yes, truffles.  I also ordered this adorable Bee Naturals Baby Gift Set for my BFF that just had a baby…so cute and an easy way to gift friends and family for the holidays!

Perfume, for a great cause

charity fragrance

You guys know I’m just all about the charity, which is why I’m pretty into the fact that Nomad Two Worlds is launching three new fragrances in its “Raw Spirit” collection.  The collection is part of a new commitment, alongside renowned fragrance house Firmenich, to the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). Together, Nomad Two Worlds and Firmenich will create ten new Raw Spirit fragrances over the next two years, and, in the process, identify and work with Indigenous and marginalized communities in Haiti, the Amazon, Australia and the US to assist in the commercialization of novel ingredients and to help champion and showcase these ingredients to the consumer market.

The three new fragrances in the expansion will be released through World Senses, the joint venture formed last year between Nomad Two Worlds and Atlas Pearls and Perfumes to create and distribute socially conscious, “meaningful luxury” fragrance and cosmetics products. Firmenich Master Perfumer Harry Fremont designed the new fragrances, and each of the travel-size rollerballs ( 7.5ML / .25 FL OZ) of the Eau de Parfums are available now for $35 on the recently re-launched Nomad Two Worlds website.

“Bijou Vert” and “Citadelle” focus on premium Haitian sourced vetiver, and part of the proceeds from these two fragrances will be used to support sustainable Haitian agricultural projects in collaboration with Firmenich:

  • “Bijou Vert” (“Green Jewel”) is an elegant and refreshing twist on the classic vetiver fragrance, featuring premium Haitian sourced vetiver, grapefruit, mandarin, geranium, lotus flower, black pepper, benzoin, patchouli and cedarwood.
  • “Citadelle” represents the strength and resilience and spirit of the Haitian people.  Premium Haitian vetiver mingles with marigold, pear, bergamot, lemon, spices, amberwood, musk and cedarwood.

The additional fragrance, “Wild Fire” sources premium wild harvested sandalwood from Australia, with part of the proceeds from sales used to support sustainable Australian Indigenous agricultural projects in collaboration with Essential Oils of Tasmania:

  • “Wild Fire” is inspired by the intoxicating scent of the West Australian desert is a warm, sensual fragrance combining the rich dry scent of Australian sandalwood with the creamy amber and floral notes of ylang ylang, jasmine petals, cedarwood and musk.

Summer’s FOMO moments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you read my blog on the regular, then you probably already know about the modern day FOMO.  Ahhhh, the Fear Of Missing Out: a recognized anxiety (seriously, it is) that something amazing is going on somewhere…and you’re missing out on it.  For example, when your friends all go on vacation to Cabo, which you couldn’t go on, because you have an evil boss, and you see a STREAM of Instagram photos that make you want to drown your sorrows in whiskey.  That’s just ONE example…and speaking of whiskey, I’m pretty into this new contest that Jack Daniels is doing on behalf of their Tennessee Honey alcohol.  The blend of whiskey and honey liqueur is a little bit of honey, and a whole lot of Jack, which makes for an AMAZING summer drink.  It’s a superb mixer for an unexpected twist on summer cocktails.

As for the contest, you are gonna want to enter the Jack Summer Swarm contest.  The most awesome photo wins a $5,000 travel voucher for the ultimate summer trip.  Popular vote will decide the top contenders and then the Jack Daniels judges will make the final call. That means you should be driving your friends jealous with all your “Can’t believe you missed this” moments, but make sure they’re voting for your pics, too.

Here’s my list of summer to do’s (adapted from last year’s list):

  • Go to happy hours in Century City and Downtown LA: two places I hardly ever go!
  • Go to the Yamashiro Farmer’s Market: At least once a month!
  • Hike Runyon: it’s across the street.  Enough said.
  • Take ballet classes: I took a class back in April and remembered why I love ballet so much.
  • Go back to Catalina Island with my friends!
  • Take tennis lessons: almost all of my friends play tennis…it’s one of those sports I’ve always wanted to learn but never did.  It’s time.
  • Remember to go to the beach (Malibu and the South Bay–the strand is AMAZING)
  • Remember to use my roof: the pool, the jacuzzi, have guests over, swim laps, etc.

**As always, drink responsibly this summer and, of course, only enjoy an adult beverage if you are over 21 years old**
