Hi Jamie,
This is kind of embarrassing (but way more annoying)- I have facial hair above my lip and I can’t deal anymore! What’s the best way to get rid of it, and for as long as possible?

Hi Z,
No need to feel embarrassed because we ALL have facial hair- some of us just have more than others. I have 3-4 hairs (that are not peach fuzz) above my lip and I mostly just tweeze them but I’ve tried many methods and I can definitely recommend the below. I would NOT recommend bleaching the hair since you’re basically still hairy but the hair is just lighter in color- what’s the point? You may as well just get rid of it.
- Laser hair removal: This is by FAR the best option, though it can be expensive. Depending on how much hair you have/how thick it is, you can probably permanently get rid of the hair with just a few sessions. I’d go on Yelp.com and do some research into local laser centers in your area. As another option, the Tria laser has been around for a few years but Tria Laser Hair Removal 4X, an at-home laser device, was recently FDA approved for use on the face, though it works only on light to medium skin tones. And laser hair removal doesn’t work on blonde or white hair, just FYI.
- Depilatory cream: This was the method I used in college. It’s cheap and it’s pretty easy but, again, if you have a lot of hair it might not work very well.

I did laser treatments when I was in college and I’m so glad I did. I had been teased for having a “mustache” since I was like 10. It didn’t totally remove the hair, but I only have a little peach fuzz now. Definitely worth the price tag.
Very true!
