Get the Look: Lauren Conrad’s ugly Christmas sweater


My first reaction when I saw Lauren Conrad wearing this outfit at The Grove in LA?  Holy ugly sweater party…but then it kind of grew on me and I started to think that she actually looks super chic.  I’m loving the look of mixing the ugly sweater with sleek leather pants, pointy pumps and an edgy bag.  And I mean, to top it off, she has her hair styled in a deep side part with cranberry lips, to match the “Ho! Ho! Ho!” lettering.  The only downside?  Her sweater costs $325 and is actually no longer even available.  Really?  I complained about spending $50 on my ugly Christmas sweater from T.J. Maxx about three years ago.  Hmmm. 

I found a few cheaper options, that are just as cute, at Urban Outfitters and ASOS and I’m actually really digging the “Mistletoe” version from ASOS since it’s simple (and also, you might get a make out session out of the whole deal).

Happy Birthday, Kim Kardashian!

Today, October 21st, marks the birth of the infamous Kim Kardashian.  Here’s what I would give the E! reality star, if I actually knew her…or actually cared to buy her something.  What do you get the woman that has everything?  Well…even more stuff.  Kanye whisked her off to Rome for the weekend where I’m sure she’ll be showered in all of the Italian fashion anyone could ever dream of.  What would you give Kim K for her b-day?

Tarte Picture Pefect Curler & Deluxe Light, Camera, Lashes Mascara: Probably one of the prettiest eyelash curlers ever and perfect for Kim since she’s known for her dramatic eyes.

Gucci Snap Luggage Tag: Since Kim travels so much, she definitely needs a luggage tag with some style.

Nicholas Kirkwood Pearl-Platform Satin Pump: I’m in absolute LOVE with these heels and can totally see Kim wearing them, in her black and white house.

Spray Tan with Infinity Sun

A few days ago, I got THE MOST AMAZING spray tan ever and I even tweeted this, which, I admit, kinda makes me hate myself.  I shouldn’t care that I look better with some color but, fact of the matter is, I DO.  It is what it is, right?  But in all honesty, I was extremely impressed with the quality of Infinity Sun’s spray tan; the all-natural product was applied perfectly even and the color was natural and not orange at all (Jessica Alba, Brooke Burke and Britney Spears are all fans).   

As someone who used to go in the automatic spray tan booths, I can definitely see a big difference in the quality here, since the spray is actually customized by a person, and not automatically sprayed on by a machine.  And yeah, I know getting naked in front of a total stranger can be a little weird but after a few minutes, you’ll be fine- don’t worry.

LC Lauren Conrad: I’m sold!

I have to admit, it’s slightly hilarious to me that I get TONS of compliments EVERY time that I wear something designed by Ms. Lauren Conrad, specifically this dress from the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s collection. So when I saw this gorgeous image from her new Winter Lookbook (above) I checked out the site and, of course, found another top that I wanted as well.  They just arrived in the mail today and I’m totally obsessed.  The quality of the black and white crochet satin top is amazing and it fits perfectly and, even though I took a chance on the red open-lace chiffon top (since Lauren wasn’t modeling it in the lookbook), I was equally happy when I tried it on.  The lace detailing on the back is GORGEOUS…seriously, click on the link and zoom in.  You can see the full LC Lauren Conrad Collection HERE.

Say what you want about the reality star turned designer and yeah her first high-end collection did suck, but I’m super impressed with her designs, season after season.  You can see the full Holiday Collection lookbook here.

Veuve Clicquot 3rd Annual Polo Classic

It’s my favorite time of year! POLO TIME.  And yes, I’ve attended all three Veuve Clicquot Polo Classics…you might call me slightly obsessed but it’s just SO fun.  Aside from being super chic, a ton of celebs attend the event, including Lauren Conrad, Ashley Green, Rachel Zoe, Mandy Moore and ton more.

Quarter Life Crisis Hero: Mindy Kaling

If you haven’t already watched The Mindy Project, you need to.  I actually got to watch the first episode a few weeks ago, for free on an airplane, and I was instantly hooked; Mindy’s charter (also named Mindy) is pretty much what every single late twenty-something/early thirty-something IS.  She’s smart, funny and has absolutely no idea what she’s doing when it comes to dating.

She also recently did an interview with NPR where she discusses exactly what I recently wrote about: man-repelling fashion and beauty that women love.

“Men tend to not understand or like sequins very much.  Men don’t like the wedge shoe. I have noticed men don’t tend to like the statement necklace or chunky tribal jewelry.  These are all the things by the way that I love…In the Venn diagram of things that men hate for women to wear and the things that I love to wear, is almost a full overlap…which is unfortunate for me.”
