One Bag & Three Beauty Obsessions: Moni Moni

Welcome to my second feature of One Bag & Three Beauty Obsessions, the Moni Moni edition.  And away we go…

BAG:

  • Moni Moni Gypsy Bag – This chocolate brown bag makes me want to squeal.  I’m really into the long strap these days and when I recently spotted Emmy Rossum carrying the brown wonder, my thoughts were confirmed.

BEAUTY:

  • Philip B Chocolate Milk Body Wash & Bubble Bath – We all know how much I love beauty products that smell like food.  This chocolate-scented body wash (and bubble bath) is a nice treat in the shower and really wakes me up in the AM.  On top of smelling delish, it also boasts good-for-you skin ingredients like cocoa butter and aloe.
  • Prtty Peaushun Skin Tight Body Lotion – As a super fair girl in LA, sometimes I’m a little self conscious about it. I recently tried out this tinted body lotion, created by celebrity makeup artist, Bethany Karlyn.  It’s fab because it has subtle light-reflecting particles that give skin a flattering glow.  As a bonus, special ingredients lift, firm, tighten and diminish the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks and varicose veins.  Score.
  • Fresh Eat Pray Love Collection Eau de parfum – I just recently wrote about my “Eat Pray Love” screening experience and I’m now officially ob-sessed with the Fresh fragrance collection for the movie.  “Eat,” my personal favorite, is Italy in a bottle.  The scent indulges in Italy’s most addictive desserts and wines and boasts notes of bright Italian lemon and basil balanced with creamy textures aimed to smell like cannoli and tiramisu.  And to top it off?  Sparkling prosecco and limoncello…ahhh, I’m brought back to my days of backpacking around Southern Italy.  I can smell the limoncello now.

“Eat, Pray, Love” advanced screening sponsored by Fresh

So I was lucky enough to check out an advanced screening of the talked-about movie, “Eat, Pray, Love” thanks to Fresh Beauty.  I blogged about the launch of their new fragrance line when it was first announced back in June and I finally got the chance to smell the fragrances at the Fresh store at The Grove in LA before the screening.  The verdict?  Obsessed.  I have to say, as expected, “Eat” is probably my favorite…it wreaks of Italy and its sensual wines and brings me back to my study abroad days.  “Love” takes a close second with it’s floral scent that has fruity undertones.  It’s soft but super feminine.  “Pray,” though comes in third, is still amazing.  It’s a little woodsy, which I have to be in the mood for, but I do like the exoticness of it.

As much as I love the fragrances, I’m also really obsessed with the candle trio.  They can be burned together or alone and I have to admit that I’m already half way done with “Eat” and already thinking about buying a new one to replace it.  They’re delectable, to say the least.

The film?  Loved.  Though it definitely reminded me of one of my favorites, “Under the Tuscan Sun” with Diane Lane, I thought Julia Roberts did a great job of bringing the book to life.  Seeing her tour Italy reminded me (again) of studying abroad and even of my backpacking trip after college graduation.  There’s something very beautiful about watching someone discover themself that I don’t think people will ever get sick of watching.  I found myself inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert and took note that I have to start re-practing “il dolce farniente,” the sweetness of doing nothing.

Fresh launches an “Eat, Pray, Love” fragrance collection

So in all honestly, I’ve been trying to read Eat, Pray, Love for the past year…and I’ve been pretty bad about it.  Elizabeth Gilbert is just so completely and utterly into herself and once I got past the Italy chapter where she just eats everything in sight, I got kinda bored.  I’m still making attempts but I’m beginning to come to terms with the fact that I might end up just seeing the movie to figure out how her journey actually ends.  Even though I’m apathetic about the memoir, I’m SUPER excited to check out the fragrance trio from Fresh cause seriously, I bet “Eat” smells amazing.

The Eat, Pray, Love Fragrance Collection will feature one scent dedicated to each section of the book – Eat, Pray and, of course, Love.  And, since I’m a sucker for expensive candles, I’m also excited for the candle trio, which will retail for $45…not actually that bad for three prestige candles.  You can check out the collection starting July 15, not-so-coincidentally about one month before the movie is released on August 13.
