Whether you’re going to the actual derby (yes, it’s in Kentucky) or just going to a derby party (like I am), here’s everything you need to look the part. There’s nothing I love more than big hats and horses – case and point here, here and here – so I will be enjoying myself thoroughly tomorrow.
It hit me yesterday that I haven’t been on spring break since 2005, and, quite frankly, this makes me sad. Not to say that I haven’t been on other fun vacations since then, but there’s something so exciting and also disgusting, in a good way, about the college tradition known as “spring break.” This got me to thinking about how much I’ve changed over the past eight years, and in many, many good ways. For example, not that there’s anything wrong with a little Bud Light but hey, I now prefer a nice glass of wine or a delicious cocktail. But tanning oil? Hell no. I don’t care if it does have SPF 15, it’s still TANNING OIL. I’ll take my Shiseido SPF 50+, please. I mean. Let’s not even discuss wedge flip flops…and ladies, you can stop laughing out loud now cause I know you wore them too. I now prefer these Loeffler Randall woven sandals, which are perfect for day to night. What are some of the things you’ve grown out of?
P.S. check out my instagram HERE if you want to see a picture of me on spring break 2005, to which I caption “can you smell the sun damage?”
It’s very rare that I fall instantly in love with anything, let alone jewelry, but guys…Haute Betts is IT (and affordable at $29-$200 a piece). The line’s creative, flirty, and edgy designs will make any outfit, whether elegant or casual, come to life. With materials including crystals, pyrite, Czech glass beads, precious gemstones, mixed metals, and charms, Haute Betts pieces are ideal for adding an unexpected style statement to any outfit. Naturally, the line has garnered credible celebrity fan-fair, including Mary-Kate Olsen, Lauren Conrad, Vanessa Hudgens and Olivia Munn. Here are some photos from their latest party: Haute Betts Pre ‘Chella Soiree, to view the Spring/Summer Collection, hosted by Fashion Blogger, Sydne Summer; TV Personality, Diana Madison; Fashion Blogger, An Dyer; Celebrity Stylist; Joey Tierney, Madison Guest and Elshane.
I’ve always had a thing for the combo of black and white when it comes to fashion but this spring, it’s honestly just been EVERYWHERE, which is fab. I had a black and white-themed 30th birthday party, had a mini BFF black and white birthday dinner and, now, I find myself wandering around the interwebs in search of my next black and white purchase…it’s a sickness. Here are my latest favorites:
1. Milly Kiera Clutch: Probably the ultimate go-to clutch that will match almost anything. I need this.
3. Dorothy Perkins Deco Dip Dress: A b&w dress never, I repeat NEVER goes out of style and this particular dress is not only cute…but also under $60. Seriously.
4. Rosegold Zane Woven Booties: At first glance, I had mixed feelings on the heel of these babies…but after a few minutes, I become a fan. I love the woven chevron and would wear these with jeans AND with a bright colored dress.
5. Z Gallerie Zig Zag Frame: My apartment is already very b&w and this frame will fit nicely into the mix, and at a decent price.
I feel like last week was just full of fun events, which I love, and I was super stoked to attend a fab luncheon hosted by NET-A-PORTER.COM, in honor of their new beauty launch! Clearly, being the beauty addict that I am, I’m excited. A highly select edit of 11 brands, including Chantecaille, Natura Bissé, Aesop, Le Metier de Beaute, 3 LAB, Beauty Works West, Philip B, Joya, Ilia, Sarah Chapman and James Read will kick-start the phased launch. Even more makeup, hair and skin products, as well as nail polish and fragrance (spanning niche and established labels) will be added every week.
My love for bebe goes waaaay back, which is exactly why I was so stoked when bebe invited me to their Girls Who Lunch event, hosted by Sydne Summer. It got even better when they offered to let me choose one piece from their latest collection which, btw, is crazy awesome, and naturally…I chose the dress. 🙂
