If you’ve seen American Hustle, and you probably have, then you KNOW about THE FASHION. I was especially inspired by Amy Adams’ character and her 70s glam low-cut power tops and dresses. I mean. The GLAMOUR. I’ll stop with the caps, cause I’m not Kanye, but I want to express my excitement for all things 70s glam, ok? Here’s how to get Amy’s simple yet chic beauty look from the movie and, p.s., my friends at Jouer just confirmed that Amy actually DID wear their Luminizing Moisture Tint in Golden while filming!
Coconut oil…it’s the new thing in cooking AND in beauty. Beauty Guru Michelle Phan rounded up some fun ways that you can use actual coconut oil for some DIY beauty products (e.g. as a makeup remover, body scrub, etc.), but if you’re lazy like me, you just want to buy beauty products that already have coconut oil IN them. Thank you very much. So what are the benefits? Well, the oil is extracted from the meat of the coconut and it just so happens to be jam packed with vitamin E and good-for-you fatty acids that work together to help your skin and hair in a myriad of ways. Case and point being coconut oil is a great antioxidant AND anti-fungal/bacterial. Done deal. Here are a few of my favorites:
Olive oil is absolutely a major staple in my diet, not only because it’s easy and delicious, but also because it has a myriad of health and beauty benefits. For starters, the original cultivation of olive oil is said to date back to the 7th century B.C. (yep B.C.!) and it’s not just good on Italian food; olive oil contains a massive amount of antioxidants that help to rejuvenate, hydrate and restore the skin and hair. Here are a few of my favorite olive oil beauty products:
Fall always brings out the “hey guys, try these ‘awesome’ pumpkin product” beauty stories and, to be honest, it can get kind of nauseating. Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean that EVERY pumpkin product in existence is the best thing EVER. So, after years of testing out all products pumpkin, i bring to you my favorite four pumpkin-based products. I promise you, these are all good and won’t make you want to throw out all your Halloween candy.
Shark Week is one of those cult obsessions that I absolutely adore and, after the recent release of the now infamous “SharkNado,” it should come as no surprise that the internet is buzzing with excitement. Happy 25th anniversary, Shark Week! Here are my favorite shark-inspired finds fot the week:
Mixology NYC Shark Teeth Charm Bracelet: I’m not a big charm bracelet girl but I obviously really enjoy the mixing of metals here and, of course, the blinged out shark tooth.
Shark Fin Ice Tray: Fun ice cube trays are kind of a thing. I think having some floating shark fins (especially in a punch bowl) would just make drinking water that much more fun.
Tiffany Chou Shark Tooth Double Ring: I’m also really into double finger rings (demonstrated here and here) and now I clearly NEED this gold shark version. Seriously, I want this in a major way.
I can’t pretend that I actually want to show off my stomach (ever) but when I saw this photo of Rihanna in London, my eyes popped out of my head. To say that Ri Ri has a hot bod is simply an understatement, she has the innate ability to put on literally anything and just look AMAZING in it- so not fair. The best part about this outfit is that it’s pretty much effortless and you can pull it together using basic wardrobe staples (e.g. boyfriend jeans, metallic heels) and, ok, you might have to buy the sequin crop top…
For someone who lives in Los Angeles, I really do NOT spend enough time in the ocean, and yeah, I’m hoping that will change this summer. In the meantime, here are some awesome ocean-inspired beauty products that I adore.
AHAVA Dead Sea Salt Bath Salt: I still have dreams that one day I might be able to swim in the Dead Sea (thanks for nothing, Birthright! lol) But right now, I’m happy settling for this bath salt product, straight for the ocean I want to swim in.
Kiehl’s Cryste Marine Ultra Riche Lifting and Firming Cream: My oh my, Kiehl’s…clearly I was excited to try this because, get this, the cryste marine flower grows on rock formations aside the Mediterranean Sea and is known for its unique ability to boost cell renewal for a supple skin effect.
Bumble & Bumble Seaweed Shampoo: I love the look and feel of this mild, moisturizing, daily shampoo that has marine extracts that feed roots, adds shine and keeps scalps happy.
