Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution

My biggest skin complaint is by far and away the fact that I have hyperpigmenation (e.g. acne “scars,” which are really not scars but in fact, post-acne red marks).  It makes it really hard to just run out of the house with out at least throwing on some tinted moisturizer and honestly, it drives me crazy.  I was sent a bottle of the new Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution and so far I’ve been really impressed with the results.

According to Kiehl’s, 55% of women clinically demonstrated a significant reduction in dark spot intensity in as little as two weeks AND, in eight weeks, a whopping 87% of women demonstrated more uniform skin tone to deliver breakthrough clarity- sounds good to me.  The secret ingredient?  Activated C, a photo-stable ingredient that is 100% active on contact.  The complex slows down the production and transfer of melanin and is proven to have an anti-cluster affect on existing spots and imperfections, breaking them apart before they form.

This Week’s Online Shopping Haul

For me, this week has been just a little bit crazy.  I never considered myself a “stress shopper” but alas, I think I might just be that since last night happened.  I decided that I was going to buy myself four things that I’ve been coveting but haven’t had the, for lack of a better word, balls to actually buy myself.  You know what?  I deserve it.  And I can’t wait for everything to arrive…god bless online shopping.

Jessica Elliot Double Floating Finger Candy Ring: My friend Chelsea had a similar ring that she scored from Forever21; however, they’re totally sold out so of course, I am forced to buy the version that costs $175.  C’est la vie.

Weekend trip to Las Vegas(!): My good friend Maura was assigned a spa story that just so happens to be located in Vegaaaaas (she’s a very fancy Lucky magazine senior editor) so she asked me if I wanted to come out a few days early to hang with her.  Actually, her exact email said “don’t you LA people go to Vegas like every weekend?”  Yes Maura, we most certainly want to. And this time, we WILL.  I bought a Delta flight going to Vegas and a Spirit (?) airlines ticket for the way back to LA.  The “?” after Spirit indicates my desire to not crash and die since I’ve never heard of this airline.

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica: I blogged about this a-pause-mazing moisturizer back in March after receiving a few mini samples of the product and absolutely loving it.  My skin is like the sahara 90% of the time and this is the first moisturizer in a looong time to actually do the trick, which is exactly why I don’t mind spending my actual hard-earned money on this product.  And note, I hardly ever actually buy my own beauty products so that should say a LOT.

T by Alexander Wang One Shoulder Dress: I bought this dress in the “sage” green color about two weeks ago after trying the dress on at Fred Segal.  I wore the sage version to Soho House the other night and loved it so much that I decided I needed the black version as well.  A woman can never have too many LBD’s, you know?

Kiehl’s, Michael C. Hall and Chloë Sevigny team up for clean water in honor of Earth Day

So I attended a fab party the other night at Kiehl’s on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica in honor of Earth Day.  The staple skincare brand teamed up with Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”) and Chloe Sevigny (“Big Love”) to create a limited editon collection of Kiehl’sRare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque with 100% of net proceeds benefitting Waterkeeper Alliance, a charity founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., that supports local Waterkeeper programs to provide a voice for waterways and their communities worldwide.

There were plenty of other celebs in attendance as well- we spotted Stephanie Pratt (“The Hills”) at the restaurant next door and then at the party, Kristin Cavallari (also of “The Hills”) who embraced Stephanie with a hug as soon as she walked in.  Mario Lopez was there with his wife, as well as Sam Trammell from “True Blood,” who is even cuter in person.

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica

So after reading about the new Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica moisturizer in Lucky, I absolutely had to try it.  I have super dry skin and so when I read the claims, I knew there was a possibility I had met my new favorite skincare product.  The coolest claim Rosa Arctica makes is that 93% of users said their skin felt “denser and thicker” after use (from a four-week consumer study).

Since recently turning 28, I’m starting to really come to terms with the fact that I will eventually see signs of aging, which I’m not very happy about, and therefore need to start using skincare products that help thicken things up a bit since my skin tends to be on the dryer, thin side.

The “Resurrection Flower,” a main ingredient in the cream, can dry out completely and survive for 31 days in inclement conditions and can be restored with just a few drops of water within a day or two to be fully restored…how come no one ever thought to put this in moisturizers before?!  A jar sells for $60, which is actually a pretty good deal considering how little cream you actually have to use- this moisturizer is thick and very dense so a little goes a long way.  LOVING this product.
