The Vegas Itch…

It’s chilly weeks like this that make me really want to go to Vegas.  Seriously, I just love it there and funny enough, I haven’t even really done much gambling the last few times I went…but that really needs to change.  Here’s what’s on my to-do list for my next trip to the big L-V:

Stay at the Cosmo: obviously, it’s the girliest hotel on the strip but it’s also the NICEST.  I could honestly live in their hotel rooms and die one very happy lady.  The rooms are spacious and all have chic bathrooms and modern electronics, which I can never figure out how to use, but still love. It’s all about the options.

See a good comedian: The first time I ever went to Vegas, I was lucky enough to see George Carlin, one of the funniest comedians ever.  Vegas gets all the best comics, including Jerry Seinfeld, who’s on my bucket list of people to see ASAP.  You should also always check what concerts are happening before you go…No Doubt JUST played Vegas and I’m sure that would’ve been an amazing show.

Dine at Milos: It’s also in the Cosmo, go figure, but they have the best Greek/Mediterranean cuisine and the view from the restaurant is just stunning.  My friend Ashley and I were obsessed with the “Milos Special”- lightly fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki and kefalograviera cheese. It’s a-mazing.

Ugh, just writing this post is making me want to hop on a plane right now.  In the meantime, I was recently introduced to a fun gambling site – don’t judge me.  PartyCasino.com is a UK-based site and you don’t need to download anything weird that will mess up your computer (hello, Napster) and they have more than 160 casino games online, which I love.  If you need me, I’ll be playing Black Jack until my next trip to the desert.  Thanks.

Photo: One of my recent trip to Vegas- Nadine and I were on TV during the Miss America pageant…yes, yes, I know.

FTC Disclosure: This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own, as per usual.  And I really do LOVE Vegas and gambling.

This Week’s Online Shopping Haul

For me, this week has been just a little bit crazy.  I never considered myself a “stress shopper” but alas, I think I might just be that since last night happened.  I decided that I was going to buy myself four things that I’ve been coveting but haven’t had the, for lack of a better word, balls to actually buy myself.  You know what?  I deserve it.  And I can’t wait for everything to arrive…god bless online shopping.

Jessica Elliot Double Floating Finger Candy Ring: My friend Chelsea had a similar ring that she scored from Forever21; however, they’re totally sold out so of course, I am forced to buy the version that costs $175.  C’est la vie.

Weekend trip to Las Vegas(!): My good friend Maura was assigned a spa story that just so happens to be located in Vegaaaaas (she’s a very fancy Lucky magazine senior editor) so she asked me if I wanted to come out a few days early to hang with her.  Actually, her exact email said “don’t you LA people go to Vegas like every weekend?”  Yes Maura, we most certainly want to. And this time, we WILL.  I bought a Delta flight going to Vegas and a Spirit (?) airlines ticket for the way back to LA.  The “?” after Spirit indicates my desire to not crash and die since I’ve never heard of this airline.

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica: I blogged about this a-pause-mazing moisturizer back in March after receiving a few mini samples of the product and absolutely loving it.  My skin is like the sahara 90% of the time and this is the first moisturizer in a looong time to actually do the trick, which is exactly why I don’t mind spending my actual hard-earned money on this product.  And note, I hardly ever actually buy my own beauty products so that should say a LOT.

T by Alexander Wang One Shoulder Dress: I bought this dress in the “sage” green color about two weeks ago after trying the dress on at Fred Segal.  I wore the sage version to Soho House the other night and loved it so much that I decided I needed the black version as well.  A woman can never have too many LBD’s, you know?

VEGAS: The Monte Carlo Resort & Casino

So I recently got the opportunity to go on an a-mazing press trip to Vegas (yes, LAS VEGAS) and check out the Monte Carlo Resort & CasinoNadine and I road-tripped it down to Vegas on Saturday afternoon and then I flew back solo to LA on Sunday night (had to get back in time to attend the ThinkThruFashion Accessory Swap!).  Here’s a run-down of what we did:

Saturday:

  • Got a tour of Las Vegas’ City Center- totally modern and Jetsons-like.
  • Dinner at Diablo’s Cantina in the Monte Carlo.  I love me some Mexican food and it was great to meet the other bloggers and PR team over margaritas and guac.
  • A Vegas show- Frank Caliendo.  We had the pleasure of a meet-and-greet with Frank before the show started and he had all of us cracking up.  I admit I wasn’t familiar with Frank beforehand but the show was honestly hilarious.  He specializes in impersonations and does a hilarious Clinton and George W. Bush.
  • After dinner the group all grabbed drinks and then Nadine and I went out and partied at EyeCandy in the Montego Bay hotel.  This is where we also ran into another impersonator, the dude from “The Hangover.”  Hilarity ensued.

Sunday:

  • After a crazy night, we slept in a bit and then headed down to our private cabana by the pool.  When I say private, I mean seriously VIP…our area was completely gated off and when we had our own mini pool to swim in.  Vegas in July can be seriously brutal but being in the cabana was complete heaven.  We had flat screen TVs and a few sofas to lounge around in the shade.  We ordered mimosas and chowed down on guacamole and watermelon vodka shooters.  How can it get any better, right?
  • Once it got too hot to stay outside, we decided to try out our luck in the casino (my fave!).  I’m strictly a Black Jack girl but decided that I need to expand into the world of Craps and Roulette.  Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on my side this trip…but Nadine won a bit of spending money!
  • After I lost it all (or at least all I allowed myself to play with), we met up with the group again for a private tour of HOTEL32.  The Monte Carlo adopted the slogan “Unpretentiously Luxurious,” and this proved to be completely true as we toured HOTEL32.  With a seperate elevator, we arrived on the 32nd floor to be greeted by reception and were escorted into a lounge area where we were served cocktails and special appetizers.  Seeing HOTEL32 has turned me into a total techie…I want to make everything in my apartment state-of-the-art now.  If only I won some money on this trip, lol.

Inspired by Vegas poolside

So I’ve had Vegas on the brain lately and once my friend, Nadine Jolie, revealed that she wants to spend her upcoming 30th birthday poolside sipping Vegas cocktails, I’ve been on the prowl for the ultimate Vegas bikini and pool attire.  When it comes to Las Vegas, I believe in the phrase “go hard or go home” so why not go all out and play up the bling?

Frederick’s of Hollywood Limited Edition Rhinestone Rings bikini set – I actually have a similar bikini that doesn’t quite have the same”bling factor.”  This a good cut on me (and most women) and I love the circle details that make it a little different.

Tory Burch Oversized Round Sunglasses with Buckle Details – Very Jackie O.  They’re big to block out the Vegas sun and also hide the bags that will form under my eyes as a result of not sleeping for days at a time.

Kenneth Cole Reaction Cedar Springs wedge – These wedges are fab because they’ll take you from day to night plus they match literally eveything in your closet.

JWoww gifts Too Faced Tanning Bed in a Tube

So I’m absolutely obsessed with MTV’s Jersey Shore and I just got word that Jenni “JWoww” Farley gifted Too Faced’s Tanning Bed in a Tube to all her friends that attended her birthday party this past weekend at Moon nightclub in Las Vegas.  Now, with the wonder lotion that adds an instant bronze glow with a gradual sunless tanner, JWoww’s friends can get their GTL on with out the scary side effects that tanning beds cause.  Happy birthday, JWoww.
