The Monday Rundown: Halloween Edition

Pumpkin-shaped Chocolate Cake: I haven’t actually tried this recipe (since I have zero backing skills) but I love that it’s just two bundt cakes put together with an ice cream cone as the stem.

GAP 1969 Leopard Jeggings: The Current/Elliot version has been all the rage in the blogosphere, and I like them, but I think this darker, more subtle version is a little more me and definitely more versatile.

Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Candle: The combo of cinnamon and pumpkin is absolutely amazing, calming and reminds me of when I lived in New York and we had actual seasons.

LUSH Jacko Bath Bomb: This bath bomb doesn’t actually smell like pumpkin.  However, the spicy clove bud and spearmint combo has a lot of gusto and I’m just a big fan of bath bombs in general.

LUSH Shark Fin Soap

If you know me, you know I love me some Shark Week which is exactly why this new soap from LUSH caught my attention.  Besides the fact that it has an awesome shark FIN sticking out of it, LUSH Shark Fin Soap actually benefits (100%!) a non-profit called Shark Savers, dedicated to the protection and conservation of sharks.

Even if you are terrified of sharks, who isn’t really, we all know that they’re vital to the ocean’s eco system…but ok, even if you hope all sharks die, this soap makes a HILARIOUS gift for your friend who loves to surf or paddle board.

LUSH and Gucci For Japan Relief

So by now everyone knows about the terrible state Japan is currently in.  I was awake when the news broke about the earthquakes and tsunami that hit Japan and I sat in terror and utter fear thinking about how scared the people of Japan must’ve been.  I studied abroad in Japan in winter of 2004 and I have to say, as someone who has traveled all over the world and has been to four continents, Japan is one of the most amazing, dynamic and unique places that I’ve traveled to.  It truly saddens me what Japanese citizens are facing but, at the same time, I’m also happy to see that brands are doing what they can to contribute.

Two of my favorite products?  LUSH Charity Pot which retaisl for $5 (all proceeds go to Peace Boat, a non-profit dedicated to transporting aid to those affected by the disaster) and Gucci’s limited-edition calfskin bracelet that reads “Gucci loves you.”  And yes, Gucci does love you, Japan.  In fact, while traveling around Japan, I’ve never seen more Gucci in my life so I can’t think of a better statement to make to support the Japanese people.  Gucci’s bracelet launces TODAY for $100 (quite the bargain for Gucci) and features the colors of the Japanese flag (red and white).  All proceeds will benefit the Red Cross.

LUSH Turkish Delight

So I was going through my beauty products the other night for my monthly “oh my god, I have to get rid of some of this stuff” cleanse that I do and I came across an almost-expired container of LUSH Turkish Delight Body Polish.  It was about to be dunzo in a month and since LUSH products are made from tons of natural ingredients, you should take the expiration dates seriously.  I immediately grabbed it and threw it in my shower cause, after all, no beauty product gets left behind.

After the gym tonight I decided to test it out and holy god, I have no words.  As soon as I started slathering it on I immediately smelled the roses, no pun intended.  I mean, there’s something so delicate and fancy about the smell of roses and I left the bathroom feeling a bit English…always a plus.
