The Monday Rundown

Lemon, quinoa, avocado, cilantro chickpea salad: As of late, I’ve been really into quinoa so it was pretty clear that I would love this salad that also happens to consist of several other ingredients that I love: avocado, cilantro and chick peas.  Granted, I know a LOT of people hate cilantro so I’m sure you could take that out of the recipe and be just fine.

Jouer Pochette: I was in Portland for New Year’s Eve this year and my friends and I were all gawking and ahhing over Nadine’s little pink pochette from Jouer Cosmetics!  It’s the perfect size for going out since you can fit your cash, ID, credit cards AND iPhone inside.  Of course, I immediately got one in brown.

House of Harlow 1960 Talon crystal cuff: By now you all know about my obsession with all things House of Harlow 1960, so it should come as no surprise that I found yet another new piece that I love.  Talons.  And crystals…I mean.

Plum & Bow Metallic Cat Pillow: I find this metallic cat pillow to be both ironic and awesome, especially since, if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I recently adopted two new cats of my own.  The best part about this pillow is that it totally looks like a real cat when styled amongst other throw pillows on the bed.  If I didn’t already have two real cats of my own, I’d totally get this.

The Vegas Itch…

It’s chilly weeks like this that make me really want to go to Vegas.  Seriously, I just love it there and funny enough, I haven’t even really done much gambling the last few times I went…but that really needs to change.  Here’s what’s on my to-do list for my next trip to the big L-V:

Stay at the Cosmo: obviously, it’s the girliest hotel on the strip but it’s also the NICEST.  I could honestly live in their hotel rooms and die one very happy lady.  The rooms are spacious and all have chic bathrooms and modern electronics, which I can never figure out how to use, but still love. It’s all about the options.

See a good comedian: The first time I ever went to Vegas, I was lucky enough to see George Carlin, one of the funniest comedians ever.  Vegas gets all the best comics, including Jerry Seinfeld, who’s on my bucket list of people to see ASAP.  You should also always check what concerts are happening before you go…No Doubt JUST played Vegas and I’m sure that would’ve been an amazing show.

Dine at Milos: It’s also in the Cosmo, go figure, but they have the best Greek/Mediterranean cuisine and the view from the restaurant is just stunning.  My friend Ashley and I were obsessed with the “Milos Special”- lightly fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki and kefalograviera cheese. It’s a-mazing.

Ugh, just writing this post is making me want to hop on a plane right now.  In the meantime, I was recently introduced to a fun gambling site – don’t judge me.  PartyCasino.com is a UK-based site and you don’t need to download anything weird that will mess up your computer (hello, Napster) and they have more than 160 casino games online, which I love.  If you need me, I’ll be playing Black Jack until my next trip to the desert.  Thanks.

Photo: One of my recent trip to Vegas- Nadine and I were on TV during the Miss America pageant…yes, yes, I know.

FTC Disclosure: This is a sponsored post but all opinions are my own, as per usual.  And I really do LOVE Vegas and gambling.

The Hair Files: Balayage at Warren-Tricomi (and a head shot preview!)

Truth be told, I’m a total slacker of a blogger as of late.  For those who don’t know, I recently launched a hilarious (if I do say so myself) new website called AnnoyingAtTheGym.com and guys, finding those hilarious photos take some serious work.  I somehow let it slip through the cracks that back in October I got to visit the famous Warren-Tricomi salon in West Hollywood and I’m not quite sure how this happened, in all honesty.  It’s probably what I like to call “balayage shock” because as you’ve read before, I have an almost unhealthy obsession with my hair color and I discovered that THEY DO BALAYAGE AT WARREN-TRICOMI LOS ANGELES.  It requires all caps because, believe it or not, this quite rare on the left coast.  My girl in New York introduced me to balayage and I’ve been hooked ever since I realized that it’s beneficial for the following reasons: (and yes, I’m using bullet points cause that’s how serious I am about this)

  • They allow for “freehand highlighting.”  With foil highlights, you take four or five inch sections of hair at a time and sometimes you wind up overhighlighting your hair because of the large surface area.  Balayage allows for more strategic color application since the stylist paints pretty much wherever they think you need it.
  • No foils = less brassiness.  Brassy blonde hair is the devil, according to me.  Foil conducts heat and processes hair faster and more aggressively, which is one of the main causes of that gross orange color that happens to me.

But I digress.  My appointment was originally with Kaz Amor who I was desparate to see after talking to Nadine Jolie about who did her hair such an amazing shade.  I met with Kaz and he took at look at my hair…he immediately said “you know what?  Have you ever tried balayage?”  It was like he could read my mind.  I pretty much gave up on even asking stylists in LA if they did it…so I was pretty much speechless when Kaz said, “I would love to do your hair but I really think balayage would be the best thing for you…and I have someone else here who does it REALLY well.”  SOLD.

And the result?  Well I recently had head shots taken.  OK, you can laugh.  Please feel free to comment “ooooh my god.  Jamie you are SO LA now.”  Yes, ladies, I now have head shots.  But you know what?  My hair color looks damn good…so say what you will about selling out, but you can’t knock the hair.

P.S. – this photo is un-touched…I’m still waiting on the photoshopped version where you will most likely confuse me for Heidi Klum.  Stay tuned.

L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

I recently attended a pre-Emmys party at BOA on behalf of L’Oreal, you can read my full report on Nadine Jolie’s site, but what I want to discuss is the gift bag.  I actually really love L’Oreal products, seen here, but what I’m obsessing over lately is their new Voluminous Million Lashes mascara!

Not even kidding, the minute I put on the first sweep my lashes were dark black (how I like them!) and long, with out any clumps at all.  As a bonus, I feel fancy with the metallic gold tube.
