In my experience, you’re either a rum/gin person or a tequila/vodka person, and I’m definitely the latter. Today is national tequila day so naturally, I plan on going home, going to the gym and topping off my night with a quick tequila shot. But just in case you’re not as gross as I am (you’re probably not), I wanted to share my favorite Margarita mixer, Refine Mixers. It’s zero calories so you just add the tequila and that’s the only calories that you intake…usually less than 100 calories, depending on the tequila and how much you put in.
My latest trick: add in some jalapeno slices! This tip comes courtesy of my friend Jen, who is a master chef (in my opinion, at least) and is jalapeno-obsessed. Note, this tip is NOT for people who don’t like spice in their life.

Last night I attended Refine Mixers‘ Summer Soiree at their insanely awesome house in Venice (right off the famous Abbot Kinney), hosted by the gorgeous Ashlan Gorse. I’m sure at this point you know about my obsession with Refine…I mean their mixers are ZERO calories and all natural, so what’s not to like?
Refine also teamed up withJoico Hair Care andGjelina in Venice, which, I am also now obsessed with and, side note, my friend just told me it takes 3 weeks to get a reservation there…naturally, this only makes me want to go there even more. Back to the event: guests were shuttled down from Los Angeles to Venice beach and enjoyed Refine cocktails and treats awaiting them as they entered the shuttle. Editors and tastemakers alike came together for a special intimate dinner where they learned how to pair special mixed drinks (five, to be exact) with healthy food. At dinner guests were educated on the history of Refine Mixers, by CEO Patrick Castles, and learned and how to muttle and shake several different cocktails with the Refine Mixer flavors. Joico had a fun braid bar downstairs, where women were able to get their hair braided OR get fun, beachy wavy by the amazing celebrity colorist, George Papanikolas.
My favorite cocktail of the night: The Venice Peach Bellini (which always makes me think of studying abroard in Venice, ITALY)
It’s not every day that I find a way to combine three of my favorite things (low calorie cocktails, getting my hair done and working out ) so when Refine Mixers asked me to be the blogger host for their event with Blo Blow Dry Bar at Equinox West Hollywood, I was giddy with joy. We sipped on Honey Tangerine Margaritas and Kiwi Cosmopolitans (only 100 calories each!) as guests enjoyed Blo’s braid bar and Equinox’s mini massages. Check out Guest of a Guest for more photos from the event.
I’m so excited to be the blogger host for this amazing this Thursday (tomorrow!) for Refine Mixers and Blo Blow Dry Bar at Equinox West Hollywood. If you’re in LA, feel free to RSVP to the email address above and make sure to stop over and say hi 🙂
I hosted an event a few weeks back with Refine Mixers and let me tell you, I am obsessed with their ZERO calorie Margarita Mix (and no, they are not paying me to say that). In honor of National Margarita Day (yes, this is a real thing), here are two yum recipes…both under 100 calories and delicious.
It isn’t every day that I’m asked to host an event that’s honestly such a perfect fit for me. When I was approached by Refine Mixers, I was flattered and excited because really, what do I love more than a low-calorie cocktail and getting my hair done. Refine is now partners with BLO blow dry bar as their official cocktail mixer and guys, this stuff is awesome. The cocktail mixer is all-natural, sugar-free and has ZERO calories – basically, you can make yourself a margarita for less than 100 calories…and that’s just from the tequila.
Aside from Refine’s two drink choices of the night, Red Carpet Margarita (see below for the recipe!) and Champagne Cos-Blo, attendees had the chance to get their hair blown out in true red carpet fashion.
