L’OREAL EverCream Cleansing Conditioner: I’ve tried a few cleansing conditioners and have never really been that impressed…until now. L’OREAL’s version is perfection. My hair feels clean and moisturized, all in one.
Bumble and Bumble (Really) Thickening Serum: I’ve been using this serum for years and have always been really impressed with the results. My hair doesn’t feel greasy but still gets lots of volume and fullness after using it.
Josie Maran Argan Oil Hair Serum: Hair oil can be a little scary for those of us with fine locks but once you try hair oil, you never go back. I’m way into argan oil for my hair (and skin, for that matter).
Rita Hazan Root Concealer: I like to make jokes about the fact that I have a random patch of grey hair under my side swept bangs which, not so funny enough, are strategically UNDER my bangs. Not so random. But anywho, I like to use this Root Concealer when I pin my bangs back and my greys are exposed. Ah, getting old…not so fun.
Oribe Dry Texturzing Spray: I blogged about this product in my October 5 Favorites, and I still stand by it. It’s fab for giving loads of volume and texture, once your hair is dry and straight.
Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo: I don’t use dry shampoo every day, but I probably use it at least four times a week. So, obviously, I’m pretty picky about the brands that I use. Oscar Blandi’s version is awesome. Enough said.
I love a nice lazy summer. For me, summer is all about relaxation, the beach and not caring as much about the little things (e.g. brown roots, slightly dirty hair and uncomfortable shoes). Here are three of my summer helper secrets:
Foot Petals: I’m obsessed with this life-saving product. It can take shoes that normally destroy your feet to shoes that are actually comfortable. They’re a miracle.
Rita Hazan Root Concealer for Highlights: My hair grows like a weed which makes getting my highlights touched up both annoying AND expensive. This root concealer, made especially for highlights is great for helping me to get that extra week (or two!) before going back to the salon.
KENRA Platinum Dry Shampoo: I’m a big dry shampoo advocate and the KENRA version is pretty great. I especially love that it has a UV defense duo, which helps protect against color fade.
So I was recently given an awesome opportunity to try out one of the country’s most sought-after colorist, Ms. Rita Hazan. Rita is known for setting beauty trends and reinventing the locks of some of your favorite celebs so needless to say, I was elated when I found out Rita was available to see me during her monthly trip out to the West coast.
I headed over to the Andy Lecompte salon in West Hollywood on a gorgeous, sunny Sunday afternoon. I was a little nervous, considering I was about to meet such an epic colorist but I managed to pull it together and have a really amazing hair transforming experience. Rita spent a few minutes talking to me about my hair and then decided that she wanted to lighten my base before applying my blonde highlights. Who am I to argue with the master? The result? Though the shade isn’t as blonde as I normally like it, I do really love the beautiful hue. It’s a golden blonde that looks really natural and is blended to perfection.
Bonus- Cacee Cobb, aka Jessica Simpson’s BFF, walked into the salon to chat with Rita and the staff and I got to hear tales from her travels while filming The Price of Beauty. Love it. This photo was taken the day after visiting Rita:
