Perfection = Blake Lively At the “Savages” Premiere

I saw this absolutely ridiculous photo of Blake Lively from last night’s LA premiere of Savages and nearly passed out.  Utter perfection.  Blake is wearing a stunning Zuhair Murad dress that she, not having a stylist, probably selected on her own.  The dress is from the Couture “Casino Fever” Spring Summer 2012 collection, which I love, but even more…can you believe her hair and makeup?  She is just stunning.  I did a little search to see if I could find the “get the look” from her makeup artist and/or hairstylist but no dice.  Here’s my take on how you can get the look:

Hair: For this style, you need volume.  I recently attended a Dove and Dailycandy.com event at DryBar and the stylist used Dove’s Style+Care Nourishing Amplifier Mousse and I was totally impressed.  Once hair is blown out and dry, use a 1-inch curling iron around your hair and brush out the curls for this old Hollywood glam look.

Skin: Blake definitely has a bronze goddess glow happening.  Apply your regular foundation and then use a summery bronzer to highlight the apples of your cheeks, nose and forehead.  I like Stila One Step Makeup Primecolor in “Bronze Babe” since it allows you to play with the countouring a bit and also serves as a primer, cheek color and eyeshadow.

Eyes: Keep eyes minimal, as it’s really all about the lip (see below).  Try a simple black eyeliner like Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Perversion,” a personal favorite, and, of course, some false eyelashes.  I’m loving Makeup Forever’s eyelash strips since they’re easy to get on.  Then top it off with a dramatic black mascara like Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes, which I’m also currently loving.

Lips: As my friend Nadine Jolie said, any time a celeb is wearing a draw-dropping red lipstick, it’s probably MAC “Russian Red.  Enough said.

Nails: Blake is sporting a pretty serious red and Essie’s “Well Red” would definitely foot that bill.

In My Desk:

Crest 3D White: This is my new jam…you never know when you’ll need a quick brush up and, as of late, I’ve been brushing THREE times a day.  My dentist is so proud.

Tide to Go Stick: I spill EVERYTHING on myself so these little sticks are strategically stored all over my apartment and office.

MAC Clear Lipglass: I’ve been using this lipgloss since college.  It’s clear but it’s just so sexy and chic.

Girl Scouts for Lip Smackers in Thin Mint: My favorite cookie was turned into a chapstick…naturally, I was elated.  This is the perfect pick-me-up when my lips get dry as a result of the gross office air.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: I’m eyeliner-obsessed so I like to reapply right before happy hour or a big meeting.

MAC Duo Image Compact Mirror: No explanation necessary here.  Sometimes you need a quick teeth check or eyeliner smudge alert.

Cle de Peau Concealer: Concealer is never a bad thing to keep around, right?  My hot spots- last minute breakouts and redness around my nostrils.

Deborah Lippmann Clear Nail Polish: Perfect for a run in my tights OR a polished, two minute mani.

Purrell Hand Sanitizer: Again, no explanation necessary.  Sometimes I can literally feel the gross on my hands after touching door knobs and other office germ spreaders.

Clarins Age-Control Hand Lotion SPF 15: Your hands are the first body part that actually tell how old you are so it’s very important to use SPF protection on them.  I love this lightweight lotion and it smells amazing.

Shiseido Brilliant Bronze Quick Self-Tanning Gel: Putting self tanner on your legs while sitting in your cube?  Not office appropriate.  Do I do it anyway?  Absolutely.

The Monday Rundown

BCBG Generation Asymmetrical Shoulder Pleat Dress: I’ve been looking a fun birthday dress and came across this super cute leopard version.  I’m excited to wear it while celebrating my 29th!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil: My friend Andrea let me borrow one of hers awhile back and I was really impressed with how long it lasted, especially given the fact that most eyeliner runs down my face five minutes afer application most of the time.  This eye pencil also has three fun, new colors- Demolition, Perversion (my new fave!) and Woodstock, all of which are fabulous.

Anthropologie Brassica Butter Dish: I have absolutely no use for a butter dish.  However, I LOVE this.  I would probably fill it with jewelry and leave it in my bedroom somewhere.  That is all.

Blackberry Frozen Yogurt recipe: Ok, so it’s not quite summer, yet, but I came across this super simple recipe to make blackberry frozen yogurt and had to do it.  Yum.

Inspired By: “sober January”

So last month I decided to do a little cleanse/experiment where I didn’t drink any alcohol for the entire month of January…31 days to be exact.  I like to call this crazy project “sober January” and I’m happy to report, it was a total success.

Admittedly, it ain’t easy to refrain from a glass of wine here or a vodka soda (aka “a Linds” as Amber from BeautyBloggingJunkie.com taught me) there but I managed to do it…and it felt great.  Here are the items that got me through my Gwenyth-like project.

Seltzer: Whether you call it “soda water,” “club soda” or seltzer, it is and, will always be, my favorite non-alcoholic beverage.  And when you add a little lemon, it makes you feel like you’re (almost) drinking a vodka soda (a Linds).

Urban Decay Clean & Sober: One, I love the name and two, I love the mermaid on the packaging.  This gel-based makeup remover is oil-free and contains mild cleansers coupled with soothing botanicals like jasmine, sacred lotus and a touch of lavender for a calming scent.

Amy Weinhouse “Rehab”: The hit song from 2007 (?) always put me in a soulful, jazz-type mood.  I actually really like the whole “Back to Black” album for when I feel like I should be a hipster living in Williamsburg…or the LA equivalent, Silverlake.

Diptyque Mimosa candle: Now I know this candle doesn’t smell like an actual mimosa drink but I like the irony, nonetheless.

July Beauty Favorites

So as of late, I’ve been seriously loving these beauty products.  I play favorites, I do, but every other month or so I go through a “omg, I LOOOOVE this” phase and if they’re good enough, they might even make it into the permanant rotation.  I’ll let you guys know how it goes. 😉

Clockwise:

LUSH DaddyO -I’ve been on the hunt for a really good violet shampoo, which are known for keeping blonde shades from turning brassy.  DaddyO is made to help those with blonde OR grey hair to get hair shiny and stop the brass from coming.  Miracle worker.

Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss – I’ve been in love with these since they came out a year or two ago but only recently became obsessed.  With a flick of the wrist, the dudes on top get undressed AND the tube even has phermones…you just need to rub it to release them into the air.  Seriously.

David Yurman Luxurious Bath & Shower Gel – I’ve blogged about this product before and I loved it then…but now I’m officially obsessed.  It’s definitely pricey at $50 but it lasts forever and makes me feel fancy.

COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara – All I have to say is VOLUME AND LENGTH.  I’ve been a big fan of all of COVERGIRL’s mascaras but this one really takes the cake.  It’s the perfect blend and has the best qualities from each of their mascaras.
