You probably saw my tweets and post about the POPSUGAR holiday beauty video that I shot a few weeks back (for P&G beauty) and I am SO EXCITED to let you guys know that it will go live THIS WEDNESDAY (e.g. tomorrow) during their live holiday gift guide! You can tune in for an hour by clicking HERE – it’s at 12pm PST/ 3pm EST so make sure to mark your calendar!
Philip Crangi frame: Neiman Marcus for Target collection? Yes, please. I’m in LOVE with this frame.
Thale Blanc Pouchette: I’m always looking for the perfect concert purse. One that will hold the necessities (credit card, cash, cell phone and lip gloss) and this pouchette is perfect for such an event. I love the cross-body chain strap and it’s just the right size for everything you would need.
Red velvet cupcake in a jar: The whole cupcake in a jar thing has been done but, hey, I’m still not over it. And red velvet? YES.
I know I’m definitely jaded but it’s pretty rare that an event actually wows me these days…but when I was invited to Thorny Rose’s bowling event at The Spare Room (e.g. inside my favorite hotel ever- The Roosevelt), I just KNEW that it would be FUN. What I didn’t know is exactly how good Thorny Rose wine would actually taste. I’m currently drinking the Sauvignon Blanc (seriously, drinking it right this second) and is really, REALLY good.
Kristen and I took photos and used the hash tag #ThornsUp so that they would print out instantly (SO cool), played Jenga with friends and took fun photos with the cute props they had on all the tables- SO fun and even better wine.
So lately I’ve been really missing my hair extensions and fact of the matter is, when I’m not feeling good about my HAIR, I’m not feeling good about myself. It’s sad but true. So when my a PR friend reached out and let me know that the famed Sherry Ratay was in town from Florida (on behalf of Minardi) and, gasp, doing highlights at Gavert Atelier, I literally jumped up and an instant smile was on my face. For anyone who doesn’t know, Sherry is an award-winning color expert, known for her gorgeous reds and balayage (my fave!) highlights.
It’s really embarassing that good hair- such a little (and somewhat shallow) thing- can make me happy but it DOES, so sorry for partying. And actually, this was the best timing ever because I had JUST booked an amazing video opportunity with PopSugar (more on that December 5th when it goes live!) and hi, I definitely can’t go on-camera with BROWN ROOTS. So then there’s that. If you’re in Florida or LA (when she’s in town), I highly suggest you book an appointment since I’m pretty much obsessed with my “baby blonde,” as Sherry called it, highlights.
Photo: behind-the-scenes shot from my PopSugar holiday beauty shoot. Hiiiii green screen.
If there’s one thing I hate (among many things), it’s an awkward photo shoot but hey, when Sydne is styling it, I know I’m going to be in good hands. This is exactly why I agreed to stand in front of a white screen wearing Sydne’s size 2 clothing (the polka dot dress is not even close to being zipped up in the back, btw) while holding my coveted beauty products. Well there’s that AND the fact that we’re selling our stuff this Sunday at Space 1520, with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Bill Foudation– an LA based animal rescue group. If you’re in the area, definitely stop by because we are selling some GOOD STUFF. And, it’s not just the two of us. The amazing Shauna of PennyChic, JoEllen Lu of Shop Tarte and Chanelle Laurence of The Penelope Times will be showing off their blogging fueled fashion retail skills. And indie designers Jenny Dayco, Shallow Fashion and Kittinhawk will also have pop up shops.
Here’s a sampling of what’s for sale AND me being a suuppper awkward model. ENJOY. I can’t even with how cute Bunny looks wearing this scarf.
A big thanks to Synde for creating these amazing images and an even bigger thanks to Kelsi for organizing such a great event. And again, this is just a sampling of some of the pieces we’ll be selling: real leather and suede jackets, trendy polka dots, CHANEL No. 5 lotion, DKNY fragrance, Urban Decay’s coveted NAKED eye palette and Jimmy Choo for H&M sandals! There will also be stacks of designer denim for $30 each (many never worn and in various sizes)!
I’m not really a theater girl. I remember my first day of college when my total stranger of a roommate (a theater major from Massachusetts) immediately asked me how many Broadway plays I’ve seen (me being from New York and all). My reply? “Uhhh, I don’t know maybe like two or three.” I just never really cared, in all honesty. HOWEVER, Judy Bloom’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret was one of my favorite books growing up so when my friend Dane told me that he wrote and directed a play loosely based on the novel, I HAD to see it. People, it is AMAZING. My friend Devon and I went (for only $20 a ticket, serious) and didn’t stop laughing the whole time. If I can say anything to attest to how great this play is, it’s this: Are You There God? It’s Me, Karen Carpenter made me almost miss being in middle school. ALMOST. And that says it all.
Check it out in Los Angeles, starting November 30th!
