So living in California, it’s only to be expected that I’m super fond of “the flop.” They’re just.so.comfortable…and as of late, I’m particularly obsessed with Havaianas. These women’s sandals are awesome because not only are they like walking on air, but they also come in super fun patterns and designs. My favorite of the moment? The sexy snake patterned version. Silvery grey flip flops are a must-have for any summer wardrobe since it matches pretty much everything and the snake pattern takes the fun up a notch. I’ll be wearing these with my new black bikini by the pool.
So I’m the first to admit that I’m a total sucker for pretty packaging, which is exactly why I’m also a sucker for makeup that just looks gorgeous…oh, and it’s also actually really good makeup on top of the pretty presentation.
Stila Garden Bliss Palette – Inspired by fresh organic flowers, this palette instantly enhances your skin, leaving your complexion radiant and luminous…and I love that you can use it on your eyes, cheeks, face and decollete.
Lancome Desert Rose Blush – It’s just sooo pretty and fun. This all-over powder gives you a super subtle shine. I love that’s it’s sort of a “new” mix between shaded tones of summer bronze, berry red and soft pinks.
Physician’s Formula Cashmere Wear Ultra-Smoothing Bronzer – As son as I saw the braided texture of this bronzer, I immediately had to touch it. The ultra-luxurious powder has the classic look and feel of cashmere, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and nourished. And yes, this product actually does contain 100% cashmere extract on top of moisturizing hyaluronic acid and soft focus pearls.
So by now everyone knows about the terrible state Japan is currently in. I was awake when the news broke about the earthquakes and tsunami that hit Japan and I sat in terror and utter fear thinking about how scared the people of Japan must’ve been. I studied abroad in Japan in winter of 2004 and I have to say, as someone who has traveled all over the world and has been to four continents, Japan is one of the most amazing, dynamic and unique places that I’ve traveled to. It truly saddens me what Japanese citizens are facing but, at the same time, I’m also happy to see that brands are doing what they can to contribute.
Two of my favorite products? LUSH Charity Pot which retaisl for $5 (all proceeds go to Peace Boat, a non-profit dedicated to transporting aid to those affected by the disaster) and Gucci’s limited-edition calfskin bracelet that reads “Gucci loves you.” And yes, Gucci does love you, Japan. In fact, while traveling around Japan, I’ve never seen more Gucci in my life so I can’t think of a better statement to make to support the Japanese people. Gucci’s bracelet launces TODAY for $100 (quite the bargain for Gucci) and features the colors of the Japanese flag (red and white). All proceeds will benefit the Red Cross.
So after being at Coachella all weekend, I’ve actually been thinking about getting a second tattoo. Ok, well I’ve actually been thinking about a second tattoo for about three years now but as of this past weekend, I’m getting a little more serious about it. As a strange coincidence, I just received some info on this cute link of tattoo-inspired fragrances by Inky, all of which are customized to fit individual personalities. Perhaps one of these fragrances will be a good placeholder until I can figure out my sitch? We will see. Sadly, they are not available online but you can grab one (or all of them) at your local Target for only $5.99!
So this past weekend I attended Belvedere Vodka’s Belve Music Lounge party in honor of Coachella weekend! As I’m sure you know, Belvedere is one of my favorite vodkas and so naturally, I was thrilled to receive the invite. The lounge was held at a private estate about 5 minutes from the Coachella festival and my friends and I hung out by the pool and sipped on some specialty Belvedere Coachella-inspired cocktails– my favorite was the Belve Beat! (check HERE for all of the recipes).
So I just finished reading the new book Can You Get Hooked On Lip Balm?based on the blog, TheBeautyBrains.com. I remember reading TheBeautyBrains when blogs were just becoming popular and I have to tell you, they’re an amazing resource for all your beauty questions.
TheBeautyBrains are a group of chemists who have more than 40 combined years of experience in developing and testing beauty products at major companies such as Proctor & Gamble, Unilever and Alberto Culver, making them a great resource for everyone. Here are ten truths you didn’t know about cosmetics, straight from the new book!
1-) Curling shampoos don’t work!
2-) Wearing the right fragrance can actually make people think you have lost weight.
3-) While brushing your hair temporarily helps distribute natural oils, in the long run, brushing “100 strokes every night” strips layers of cuticle and weakens hair.
4-) There is no proof that tourmaline flat irons perform any better than the less expensive non-ceramic versions.
5-) Sunscreen is one of the best cosmetics you can use to keep your skin looking young and wrinkle-free.
6-) Spit on a zit may not be an old wives’ tale after all!
7-) There is a difference between antiperspirant and deodarant.
😎 No cosmetic will make your nails grow longer and stronger.
9-) Urea is found in cosmetics but does not come from urine!
10-) Multiple types of parabens are used in formulas to ensure that your personal care and cosmetic products are as free as possible from disease-causing microbes.
So on Monday night I attended the Redbook magazine Kardashian party at Sunet Tower Hotel in Hollywood, a party to celebrate Redbook’s May cover – the six Kardashian women and baby Mason! Truth be told, I love me some Kardashians so I was thrilled to receive an invite to this particular event.
I brought my friend Chelsea to the intimate event and we sipped white wine by the pool as we chatted with my friend Salvador and the gang from “Chelsea Lately,” who I obviously love, including the super hilarious and sweet Ross Matthews and Heather McDonald.
