Emmy Facials at Kate Somerville

When you live in Los Angeles, it’s really hard not to catch Emmy fever.  Even though I’m not actually attending the Emmys this year (or last year, or the year before that), I still use this “Emmy week” as a reminder that hey, I really need a facial to get my skin “red carpet-ready,” even if the red carpet is really just my tan carpet that resides inside my apartment.

On Thursday night, I was treated to the signature Kate facial at LA’s infamous Kate Somerville Clinic in West Hollywood in honor of the award show and ugh, yeah…boy did I need it.  First, let me say I’m in love with the signature facial – it starts off with enzymatic exfoliation and extractions followed by a customized treatment mask.  I, my friends, had way more extractions that I normally do which did not make this girl happy one bit!  But, on the bright side my dry, sensitive skin does really well with Kate’s products (as you can read here) and when I left I was super excited to receive a few of the newer products including the True Lash Lash Enhancing Eye Makeup Remover so stay tuned for a review on that soon.

Violent Lips

A little shocking at first but when you see these “lip tattoos” actually ON someone’s lips, they’re pretty amazing.  Obviously, I’m loving the leopard version and what’s really cool about these temporary lip appliques is that they actually contain vitamins that will help moisturize and condition your lips while they’re on.  I’m thinking on what Halloween costume would work with a different version now…

L.A.M.B Spring 2012 RTW

We all know that my love for Gwen Stefani runs deep which is why it should be no surprise how much I looooved her L.A.M.B Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection that debuted in NYC a few days ago.  Here are my top picks below and you can see the full collection here.

OBSESSED: Lanvin Cutout Heel Pump

Every once in awhile there’s a shoe that I look at as art over foot wear and this is definitely one of them.  Straight off the Fall 2010 Lanvin runway, these cutout heels are honestly just the coolest things ever.  I really hope Steve Madden knocks them off ASAP so I’m not forced to spend $1,607 AND so I can be four and half inches closer to heaven.

NARS SILVER ODYSSEY: A Limited-Edition Collection Doing Unlimited Good

I’ve been pretty much ignoring Fashion’s Night Out this year, just like every year, but when I saw this news, it totally caught my attention.  NARS created the limited-edition Silvery Odyssey collection featuring Via Crispi Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner (a fave!) and Space Odyssey Nail Polish.  The metallic silvery colors are celebrated in the campaign image, taken from the archives of famed photographer, Guy Bourdin (another fave).  Bourdin is one of the most significant fashion photographers of the 20th century and also a personal favorite of Francois Nars himself.

On Thursday, September 8th (Fashion’s Night Out), NARS will post Bourdin’s arresting image on their Facebook wall and encourage fans to “Like” the image and on Twitter, NARS followers can tweet their support using the hash tag #SilverOdyssey.

For all who participate, NARS will make a donation to the New York City AIDS Fund, the official charity of Fashion’s Night Out in New York.

Why I’m Obsessed with Kid Clothes (and a $25 Gift Card Giveaway!)

Maybe it’s my “maternal clock ticking” or whatever you want to call it, but I can’t help but go totally crazy googly-eyed over adorbale children’s clothing lately.  I think my two year old nephew, Mark, plays a big part in this – I seriously die every time he puts on an outfit that I buy him…he’s tre chic.  Anyway, right now I’m obsessed with shopping at The Children’s Place for him, and specifically I bought every item in the outfit above.  Yes, it’s true…Mark is the best dressed two year old in New York, people.

The infamous (and soon the be launched) Missoni for Target collection will also have baby and kid clothes (featured above as well, on the right), though not sure if they have anything for boys…but the girl clothes are a-dorbable.

Giveaway!  The nice people at The Children’s Place are offering a $25 gift card to one of my lucky readers!!!  To win, just comment on this post and I’ll choose one winner at random on September 8th at 5pm PST.  Good luck!

Gold Fever

I’ve had a serious accessory problem lately, so I wanted to share some of my latest finds– I’ve totally got gold fever. (clockwise)

House of Harlow 1960 Antiqued Pave Rose Gold Arrow Bracelet: At first glance, I didn’t think I’d like the arrow but it totally grew on me.  I love rose gold and this bracelet is great for girls with small wrists, since you bend the bracelet to fit.

Forever21 Tiered Brick Road Earrings: You would never have known these were from Forever21 if I didn’t tell you.  I love these.  And they’re super light, making them easy to wear.

Yochi Layered Statement Necklace: I’m way into statement necklaces lately and this version from Yochi is simple but modern and fun.
