So this was by FAR my favorite dress at this year’s Emmy’s- January Jones rocked the red carpet in this geometric print white Versace gown. I would totally wear this.
So it just so happens that Mary-Louise Parker is one of my favorite actresses and I was super excited when I got the makeup scoop on how to achieve her look at the 2009 Emmy’s tonight.
Stepping onto the red carpet in a single strapped, deep purple Zac Posen dress – Mary-Louise Parker was ready to shine at the Emmy’s! Tina, Maybelline makeup artist, was inspired by the deep purple and indigo tones in Mary-Louise’s dress, and her gorgeous gunmetal grey accessories. To play up the colors in Mary-Louise’s dress, Tina brought out her best features with a dramatic yet classic smoky eye, blushing pink cheeks and nude lips.
Face: Because Mary-Louise has beautiful porcelain skin, Tina kept her face looking pristine by applying Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse in Classic Ivory – with touches of Maybelline New York Dream Mousse Concealer in Light under the eyes and to the tops of the cheeks to give a contoured look.
Cheeks: To compliment her ivory skin, Tina brushed on Maybelline New YorkMineral Power Naturally Luminous Blush in Gentle Pink to the apples of the cheeks to give the look of a soft natural flush.
Eyes: Tina’s inspiration for Mary-Louise’s entire look was the gorgeous opal-toned smoky eye she created with Maybelline New York Expert Wear Stylish Smokes in Amethyst Smokes. Tina used all four shades in the palette to play up her eyes and add drama; thedeep purples complemented her creamy skin and dark hair. She then followed with Maybelline New York Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner in Blackon the upper and lower lash lines. To showcase the gorgeous jewel tones of the shadows, Tina only applied one coat of Maybelline New YorkPulse Perfection Vibrating Mascarain Very Black. Pulse Perfection
Lips:For a barely-there, neutral lip, Tina lined the entire mouth with Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lip Liner in Toast. She then followed up with Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipstick inNearly There.
Body: To complete the look, a soft dusting of Maybelline New YorkMineral Power Illuminator in Nude was brushed along her collar bones, arms and legs for a red carpet glow.
So I pretty much love every CoverGirl mascara that I’ve ever tried. Somehow they manage to continuously outdo themselves every time they introduce a new mascara into the mass cosmetics market. With that said, their latest, LashBlast Length, gives you ultra-long lashes that won’t break or flake off for all day impact. The super-length brush is their longest brush ever and gives you expert precision and control that really helps to create individualized, clump-free lashes…the brush is seriously nuts…it has over 450 fine bristles (20% more than LashBlast Volume)!
So if you’re in New York City on October 15th, you should definitely attend Cocktails 4 a Cause, a charity event benefiting Dress For Success brought to you by City Chicks 4 Charity! The event is being held at the fabulous Tenjune from 7:30-10:30PM. Open bar, apps, silent auction…what could be better?! Get your tickets now =)
So I’m really loving SoftSoap’s new Nutriserums Body Washes…not only do they clean you, but they’re available in two varients, restoring vitamin E and moisture retaining with Omegas 3 & 6. The body washes deliver essential nutrients (like shea butter and flax seed protein) and hydrators through innovative Serum Pearl technologly developed by SoftSoap. Personally, I’m a big fan of the vitamin E version…it smells delish.
So there’s lots of exciting nail news as of late- for one, I’m sure you’re all aware of our Gwen Stefani obsession here at QueenoftheQuarterLifeCrisis, so when Gwen’s models showed up wearing white nailpolish we totally freaked out. Love it. The models doned Dashing Diva’s “Fleet Week.” Hmmmm, kind of similar to my first nailpolish obsession EVER.
Second, when I saw CHANEL’s newest cult craze, Jade, a minty green color, I was reminded again of my childhood years…I was OBSESSED with the color green and I used to buy every shade of green nailpolish I could find at the supermarket. Wet ‘n Wild used to make some sicko green shades that I adored. Memories…
