Volume Filler

IMG_0318

For as much as I talk about my fine hair, you’re probably wondering if I ever come across new products to help boost volume…and the answer is yes. I’m always skeptical when I read about the “next big thing” in hair care, but L’OREAL always does a really good job, so I wasn’t that skeptical this time around.  The Advanced Haircare collection has a shampoo/conditioner set for pretty much every hair need, but when given the choice I immediately selected the new VOLUME FILLER Shampoo and Conditioner line because, well, I have fine, thin hair and that’s exactly what this set is for. So what makes this particular volume boosting shampoo and conditioner unique?  Here’s the science: Filloxane and Arginine-K Complex penetrate the hair fiber from root to core to tip for healthier looking hair.  The formula works to create texture from within to generate a thicker feel and infuses lasting volume over time.  The line has also been clinically tested and users say that your hair feels two times thicker after you use this product, and I definitely have to agree.  I mean…look at my photo below.

You Need This: Fekkai PRX REPARATIVES 3 DAY TRANSFORMATION

Fekkai 2

My hair is still in recoup mode since I took my extensions out a few weeks ago, which is exactly why this was the perfect time to try the Fekkai ‘PrX Reparatives’ 3-Day Transformation Leave In Treatment, cause, I mean…my hair was thirsty, guys.  Not gonna lie, committing to a 3-day program of anything is kind of rough for me but I DID actually use up each vial for all three days and I’m super happy with the results.  Essentially the 3-Day Transformation is an intensive leave-in treatment that provides pretty immediate results, which is excellent for an impatient lady like myself. Each vial contains a dual-phase formula that, once activated, deeply nourishes and instantly revitalizes lifeless hair. In three uses, damage is transformed, leaving hair visibly smooth, shiny and soft to the touch.  The product actually reinforces weak spots along the hair fiber where keratin loss has occurred and creates a protective shield that defends against styling and chemical damage. I’m sold.

The Monday Rundown

The Monday Rundown

1. Rosemary & Truffle Oil Popcorn: As you know, I love anything truffle-related, and it’s just kind of genius on popcorn, with a little rosemary.

2. Sexy Hair Soy Renewal: I hosted an event with Just Extensions and Sexy Hair a few weeks back, and was given this awesome product in the gift bag.  It’s a nourishing styling treatment, made with Moroccan Argan Oil, that addresses moisture, frizz, smoothness, elasticity and shine concerns. It also protects from environmental stresses and reduces drying time.

3. Sam Edelman Genna Strappy Sandals: Every summer, with out fail, I end up buying a new pair of Sam Edelman sandals.  They’re just so versatile and I’m LOVING this silver gladiator version.

4. Z Gallerie Diamand IKAT Pillow: I’m on the lookout for new decorative pillows for my couches…this might be a little too matchy matchy (my couches are bright blue), but I still love it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Launches Mobile Make Up School and Partners with Christina Ricci!

MAKE UP FOR EVER just announced
the launch of its first-ever mobile tour, designed to bring education to consumers in an engaging way, teaching them how to actually do their own make up, not just have it applied.  I like this already.  You may remember this ramble from back in April when I visited the LA store.  I really like how the brand makes a true effort to educate their customers and actually teach you how to use their products properly instead of just trying to sell you more products.

As part of the Make Up Bag Remix concept, MAKE UP FOR EVER’s team of professional artists will take a look inside consumers’ make up bags and teach them how to properly use what they already own, regardless of the brand, as well as overhaul products that are the wrong shade or texture. They’re basically bringing the same techniques used by wardrobe stylists in the closet to style consumers’ make up bags at their innovative mobile Make Up School. The idea is to make your make up bag work harder for you.

Consumers are invited to book appointments for 30 minute one-on-one make up bag evaluations inside the Make Up School, where a professional artist will go through their bag, provide an interactive, hands-on lesson explaining how to apply their products, and show them how to supplement what they already own to create their most flattering look. Each client will walk away with a new make up bag, a custom face chart detailing how to use the products they brought, and a list of any additional products recommended by the artist to round out their look. A professional photographer will also be on-site to capture each client’s “after” look, which will be uploaded to an album on the MAKE UP FOR EVER USA Facebook page.  Love this.  Make sure to check out MakeupBagRemix.com to see if they’re coming to an area near you.

Alterna Caviar Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve had these two products in my beauty aresenal (aka my beauty closet) for awhile now but I recently decided to pull them into the rotation after feeling like the current shampoo/conditioner I was using wasn’t working the way that it used to.  The Alterna Caviar Blonde Shampoo is pretty much my new favorite thing (and let’s not forget the conditoner!).  It’s formulated to help eliminate brassiness in blonde hair (hence, the purple shade) and it’s infused with seasilk and Alterna’s age-control complex, that helps fight hair’s aging process.  And, it’s also sulfate-free which will come in handy when I get my extensions put back in…yes, ladies, I’m getting my beloved extensions back in the next few weeks so stay tuned!

Redken Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know that, sadly, I had my extensions taken out on Saturday (more to come on this). The loss of my gorgeous (store-bought) hair actually put a huge damper on my day, oddly enough, and when I came home and took a look at what I was left with, I immediately went over to my “beauty closet” and started fumbling around for hair-reviving products, serums, volumizing sprays, basically anything that I thought might possibly make me feel like I hadn’t just had 90% of my hair removed. When I saw Redken’s new Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist, I figured “hey, shiny hair might make me feel better”…and I was right.

I’ve always given shine mists the old side-eye since often times they can make your hair greasy or weigh hair down but Redken’s version gave my hair a pleasant sheen but there was no stickiness or weight added. It’s great after using a flat iron, for a gleaming, polished finish and it contains ingridents known to boost shine, condition and nourish hair like Camelina Oil and Vitamin B5.
