One Bag & Three Beauty Obsessions

BAG:

Reed Krakoff Gym Bag: Granted, this is probably the fanciest gym bag EVER but I’m in love with it and clearly, wouldn’t actually use it at the gym.

BEAUTY:

Jouer Everyday Classic Wear Mascara: I’m a big fan of Jouer so obvisouly, this mascara didn’t let me down. It’s my favorite deep, dark black and it doesn’t flake!  Perfection.

Kate Somerville Dermal Quench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Treatment: Aside from just LOOKING cool, this anti-aging product turned Kate’s popular DermalQuench treatment into an at-home product!

Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo: I’m an avid dry shampoo user and I love that this particular dry shampoo is keratin-infused, adding even extra benefits for the hair.

Secret Ingredient: Honey

Laura Mercier Almond Coconut Milk Honey Bath: This contains pretty much every delectable scent in the world.  What’s not to love about cocunut, milk and honey?

Herbal Essences Honey I’m Strong Shampoo: A strengthening shampoo is super important when you dye and use heat tools on your hair.  This product lines has claims that your hair will be ten times stronger after use, so I’m sold.

Fresh Sugar Honey Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15: Such a classic lip product.  I love the combo of sugar and honey and I’m also really into the fact that it keeps my lips moisturized for HOURS.

Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey: I’m not usually a pomade girl but this hair honey is perfect for smoothing down the baby hair around my forehead and the scent is fantastic.

Bite Beauty Honey Lip Lacquer: You know I love my lipgloss/lipstick hybrids and this red is perfection.  Plus, the Manuka honey provides extended eight hour moisture.

Burt’s Bees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion: This lotion is surprisingly moisturizing thanks to all of the yum natural ingredients: milk, honey, vitamin E, coconut, grape seed oil, etc.  I love it, simply put.

Baby’s First Chemical Peel

I’m not gonna lie, I was definitely a little scared when I agreed to try out a SkinCeuticals chemical peel at Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, Inc.  In my head, whenever I think of someone getting a chemical peel, I think of Samantha from Sex and the City and the aftermath of her peel (see HERE for a photo)…oh my god, I can’t even.

However, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted with the results!  I tried out the MicroPeel which is a 30 minute treatment that helps reduce the primary signs of photoaging — fine lines and wrinkles, dullness and visible skin imperfections.  The steps?  They were simple and best of all, didn’t hurt at all.

Step 1: Dermaplanning – manual exfoliation to physically remove dead epidermal skin cells

Step 2: Alpha Hydroxy Acid – chemical exfoliation to clear clogged pores with the applicaton of a SkinCeuticals AHA solution.

Step 3: Cryogenic Therapy – My favorite part.  They applied frozen carbon dioxide “slush” to further remove obstructive debris, blackheads and sun-damaged skin cells.  This treatment is anti-inflammatory, tightens skin and reduces the prominence of pores.

The verdict?  My skin was incredibly smooth and people told me that I looked like I was glowing for days after.

Found It! “2 Broke Girls” Star Beth Behr’s Hair Secrets

If you’re not already watching 2 Broke Girls, you should be.  The show is absolutely hilarious in that “I shouldn’t like this, but I DO” kinda way.  InStyle.com recently interviewed the blonde co-star, Beth Behr, and found out her hair care secrets, which I am promptly going to try.  Beth has gorgeous blonde locks so she must be doing something right.  Her secrets?  Redken Color Extend Rich Recovery Protective Treatment. “I use the color masks once a week because they are really great.  Redken has a really good one for blondes that I go to.”  The actress also uses KMS California’s Leave-In Conditioner to help keep her golden locks silky smooth.

Reader Question: Vacation Makeup

Question: Hi Jamie!  I’m going to Hawaii…I like to wear makeup but don’t want to look done up.  What are my options?

“D”

Hi “D”!

Great question because that’s something that every girl struggles with, especially if you have problem skin (like most of us do).  Here are my top picks:

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Clear Self-Tanning Gel: Honestly, the easiest way to avoid wearing makeup is to “perfect” your skin…and going a shade or two darker is the best way to camoflauge imperfections.  I’d self-tan the night before you leave (after showering, shaving and scrubbing) to prep your skin.

ARCONA REOZONE 40: You can’t forget the SPF (cause I won’t let you!)!  ARCONA makes several good SPF products that are broad-spectrum (protects you from both UVA and UVB rays) and are also suitable for all skin types.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20: A tinted moisturizer is your best bet as far as foundation while on vacation at the beach.  This Tarte version is super light, goes on smooth and provides just enough coverage…bonus for the additional SPF 20.

Maybelline Volum’Express The Falsies Waterproof mascara: A little waterproof (very important!) mascara is just enough to make your eyes pop…no eyeshadow or eyeliner necessary in the sand.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15: This lip treatment is standard issue in the beauty world.  I love that it’s super moisturizing (again, with SPF) and also provides a light hint of color.

Have so much fun on your trip!

xo,

Jamie

The Top 5 Hair Products Every Woman Should Own, According to Edward Tricomi

I’m all about simplifying my hair routine, escpecially during the summer months.  Here, Edward Tricomi, hair master and co-owner of Warren Tricomi salons, gives his five must-have products that every woman should own…and I totally, 100% agree.

Must-Have #1: QUALITY SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER

“Think of your shampoo and conditioner as the prep work before you style. Spending a little extra for quality is well worth the splurge.”

Must-Have #2: HAIRSPRAY

“My number one must-have. You want your style to have hold but still move and be touchable. Shu Uemura makes a great one, you can layer it depending on the amount of hold you need.”

Must-Have #3: BLOW DRY LOTION

“You need to use frizz-fighting product while the hair is still wet. A blow dry lotion provides humidity resistance, frizz-control and protects hair from heat styling, which is so important.”

Must-Have #4: DRY SHAMPOO

“Great for when you want to breathe life back into your style. Sexy, wavy styles will stay voluminous and blowouts will last longer. No need to worry about them falling flat.”

Must-Have #5: HAIR GLAZE

“Takes out the dullness. Gives beautiful shine and depth. Depending on your hair texture you can use it daily or as a weekly treatment.  If hair is super fine, don’t use it more than once a week.”
