Greg Lauren for Barneys New York

Greg Lauren for Barneys-2

You guys all know how picky I am about fragrance so, naturally, I was skeptical, but let me tell you…I’m pretty into Greg Lauren for Barneys New York.  If you’re not familiar, Barneys has started a Designer Fragrance Collection (genius!) and Greg Lauren is the second designer to create a custom scent for the iconic store.  Aside from the awesome packaging, the scent boasts a combination of tonka beans, vanilla and marine notes, plus it’s UNISEX (e.g. good for both men and women)…but back to the packaging.  Greg worked to create a completely unique design for each bottle, personalizing each one.  He distressed each bottle cap with a hammer (yes, a real hammer), chlorine, sandpaper and a little paint.  After mounting the “Greg Lauren” label on the front (with intentional creases, folds and tears), he hand-splashed paint onto each bottle and placed pieces of masking tape across it with his name in hand-written Sharpie.  I mean…if this isn’t art, I don’t know what is.  This also makes for a great holiday gift, just saying…

Sponsored: EXPRESS GLAM fragrance

Express-Glam

When it comes to fragrance, I’m actually pretty particular.  I tend to stick to my classic favorites, but when a new product gets dropped off at my doorstep, I like to think that I give each perfume an equal opportunity to impress me, if you will.  Well, gotta say, I’m pretty into EXPRESS GLAM, the fragrance.  GLAM is EXPRESS’ second fragrance for women and is designed for the fashion-forward girl who’s sexy and stylish, but with downtown sensibility.  Hello, that pretty much describes me and all of my friends.  Now, as far as actual scent, GLAM boasts top notes of black currant and mandarin vodka (yum) with mid notes of sheer jasmine petals, lily of the valley and sandalwood flower.  Base notes include praline, creamy musk and white woods (one of my favorites).  I think I found my new favorite fragrance for fall or, “FFF,” as I like to call it.

This post is sponsored by EXPRESS but all opinions are my own, as per usual.

Perfume, for a great cause

charity fragrance

You guys know I’m just all about the charity, which is why I’m pretty into the fact that Nomad Two Worlds is launching three new fragrances in its “Raw Spirit” collection.  The collection is part of a new commitment, alongside renowned fragrance house Firmenich, to the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI). Together, Nomad Two Worlds and Firmenich will create ten new Raw Spirit fragrances over the next two years, and, in the process, identify and work with Indigenous and marginalized communities in Haiti, the Amazon, Australia and the US to assist in the commercialization of novel ingredients and to help champion and showcase these ingredients to the consumer market.

The three new fragrances in the expansion will be released through World Senses, the joint venture formed last year between Nomad Two Worlds and Atlas Pearls and Perfumes to create and distribute socially conscious, “meaningful luxury” fragrance and cosmetics products. Firmenich Master Perfumer Harry Fremont designed the new fragrances, and each of the travel-size rollerballs ( 7.5ML / .25 FL OZ) of the Eau de Parfums are available now for $35 on the recently re-launched Nomad Two Worlds website.

“Bijou Vert” and “Citadelle” focus on premium Haitian sourced vetiver, and part of the proceeds from these two fragrances will be used to support sustainable Haitian agricultural projects in collaboration with Firmenich:

  • “Bijou Vert” (“Green Jewel”) is an elegant and refreshing twist on the classic vetiver fragrance, featuring premium Haitian sourced vetiver, grapefruit, mandarin, geranium, lotus flower, black pepper, benzoin, patchouli and cedarwood.
  • “Citadelle” represents the strength and resilience and spirit of the Haitian people.  Premium Haitian vetiver mingles with marigold, pear, bergamot, lemon, spices, amberwood, musk and cedarwood.

The additional fragrance, “Wild Fire” sources premium wild harvested sandalwood from Australia, with part of the proceeds from sales used to support sustainable Australian Indigenous agricultural projects in collaboration with Essential Oils of Tasmania:

  • “Wild Fire” is inspired by the intoxicating scent of the West Australian desert is a warm, sensual fragrance combining the rich dry scent of Australian sandalwood with the creamy amber and floral notes of ylang ylang, jasmine petals, cedarwood and musk.

It’s April favorites time!  Here are the products that are really making me smile this month:

Narciso Rodriguez For Her perfume: Hands down, my go-to fragrance…and it’s pretty irresistible at that.

LATHER Coconut Foaming Body Scrub: It actually smells and feels like coconut, which I love.
