Sponsored Post: Back-To-School With American Eagle

american eagle

Growing up, back-to-school season was always my favorite.  There’s something incredibly exciting and rejuvenating about the fact that you get to have a fresh start at school; It’s a NEW year, which means a new YOU, at least when it comes to fashion.  Granted, I’ve been out of school for a while, which I’m still sad about, but I tried to channel my high school-self for a little inspiration.  I always tried to look modern, fun and put together, but not like I was trying too hard.  Here are my picks, all from American Eagle (hi, affordable and easy!), where I went crazy over all the denim and back-to-school basics.

American Eagle Baseball T-Shirt: I love this modern take on a baseball t-shirt.  The fabric is slightly see-through (but still appropriate) and the cap sleeves are a really pretty navy for a little pop of color.

American Eagle Skinny Crop Jean: I was immediately drawn to these jeans since they’re the perfect shade of denim for me.  I like a darker blue, but not too dark, and I love the strategically placed rips that are also still totally school-appropriate.

American Eagle AEO Studded Bangle Set: I’m wearing two sets of these bangles that combine gold and silver and give the outfit just a little hint of shine.

Sole Society Martine Flat: I wanted to add a little texture to this outfit and I love the way the snake print compliments the jeans and adds a little bit of sophistication to the baseball tee.

Sponsored Post: how to combat allergy face

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Zyrtec. All opinions are 100% mine.

When I first heard the phrase “Allergy Face,” I had to laugh…but it’s SO TRUE.  As someone who has suffered from allergies my entire life, I can tell you from real life experience that allergy face (e.g. puffy, red, swollen face) is really NOT FUN.  I have to admit, I used to just deal with it but lately I’ve been using Zyrtec and it really does help.  Basically it’s a great OTC (over-the-counter) med to get rid of your allergy symptoms that can be caused by anything, really…e.g dander, mold, pollen, etc.  Personally, pollen always gets me.  The video above, starring the lovely Rebekah George and Debra Messing (!), will give you some tips on how to prevent allergy face.

Don’t forget to Check out Zyrtec on Facebook and also check out this funny (yet so true) infographic that explains all of the ways you can hide allergy face and also, where you’re probably making some makeup bag mistakes (we’re all guilty).

What are your tips for battling allergy face?

Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Summer Swarm (part II)

summer swarm

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. All opinions are 100% mine.

Last month I posted about a little something called FOMO.  I find that summer is probably the best time of the year to try new things and experience fantastic firsts that you can’t wait to make a regular part of the season…and trying Jack Honey’s versatile “something for everyone” taste is one of them.  The Jack Summer Swarm photo contest is all about sharing the excitement of those firsts, e.g. those experiences you’re glad you didn’t miss out on.

Jack Daniels is asking people to submit photos of their own most awesome, FOMO-driven summer moments for a chance to win the Ultimate Summer Trip—(a $5000 travel voucher to plan exactly where, when, and how they want to travel).

The winning photo is partly decided by popular vote on the site, so sharing with friends is key. There are also prizes every week just for voting, as well as for simply submitting photos, so there’s added incentive to vote for your friend’s pics (so basically, make sure you vote).

Above are my favorite photos…I mean do they not just scream summer?!  Check out the site and let me know which three are your favorites and, of course, don’t forget to vote.

Summer’s FOMO moments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you read my blog on the regular, then you probably already know about the modern day FOMO.  Ahhhh, the Fear Of Missing Out: a recognized anxiety (seriously, it is) that something amazing is going on somewhere…and you’re missing out on it.  For example, when your friends all go on vacation to Cabo, which you couldn’t go on, because you have an evil boss, and you see a STREAM of Instagram photos that make you want to drown your sorrows in whiskey.  That’s just ONE example…and speaking of whiskey, I’m pretty into this new contest that Jack Daniels is doing on behalf of their Tennessee Honey alcohol.  The blend of whiskey and honey liqueur is a little bit of honey, and a whole lot of Jack, which makes for an AMAZING summer drink.  It’s a superb mixer for an unexpected twist on summer cocktails.

As for the contest, you are gonna want to enter the Jack Summer Swarm contest.  The most awesome photo wins a $5,000 travel voucher for the ultimate summer trip.  Popular vote will decide the top contenders and then the Jack Daniels judges will make the final call. That means you should be driving your friends jealous with all your “Can’t believe you missed this” moments, but make sure they’re voting for your pics, too.

Here’s my list of summer to do’s (adapted from last year’s list):

  • Go to happy hours in Century City and Downtown LA: two places I hardly ever go!
  • Go to the Yamashiro Farmer’s Market: At least once a month!
  • Hike Runyon: it’s across the street.  Enough said.
  • Take ballet classes: I took a class back in April and remembered why I love ballet so much.
  • Go back to Catalina Island with my friends!
  • Take tennis lessons: almost all of my friends play tennis…it’s one of those sports I’ve always wanted to learn but never did.  It’s time.
  • Remember to go to the beach (Malibu and the South Bay–the strand is AMAZING)
  • Remember to use my roof: the pool, the jacuzzi, have guests over, swim laps, etc.

**As always, drink responsibly this summer and, of course, only enjoy an adult beverage if you are over 21 years old**

Sponsored post: Picnic Essentials

The weather is finally starting to warm up, at least for most of the country. It’s funny because, here in LA, the weather is honestly heaven for most of the year, yet I hardly ever picnic.  This summer, I’m 100% dedicated to at least a few picnics, and I’ve found a few “essentials,” at least according to me.  No one wants to carry a ton, so I tried to keep this list to the bare minimum.

A picnic basket: For obvious reasons…you need something cute (and functional) to hold snacks, blankets, wine, etc.

Wine glass holders: I discovered these a few years back and guys, they are brilliant.  They work in grass and sand, so all your options are covered.

A picnic blanket: No one wants to sit in the grass so make sure to always have a lightweight blanket, which will also prevent grass stains.

Blackbox wine: Ok, so you may have seen my video a few weeks back where I RAVED about boxed wine or, more specifically, Blackbox wine.  Up until that point, I had actually never even had boxed wine before and I was shocked to find out how delicious (and convenient!) it is to drink wine from a box.  I put the box of white immediately in my fridge so it would stay chilled and just refilled as necessary.  What’s great is that they also have smaller versions, so you don’t have to carry a big box around for picnics.  I found a new summer obsession…

Available in ten delicious varietals and two sizes (3L and Tetra), Black Box Wine is pretty amazing; Black Box Wines is perfect for all your summer gatherings.

Sponsored Post: Jergens Natural Glow Spring Fashion (and $250 gift card giveaway!)

There’s something about spring fashion that just makes me HAPPY.  And, obviously, black and white is a huge trend for spring, and clearly, I’m obsessed…but what am I afraid of?  Looking pasty in a white top, and that’s where my Jergens Natural Glow comes into play.  If you read last month’s post, then you know that I’ve had some pretty unfortunate self-tanning experiences but hey, I’m always willing to be a guinea pig when it comes to this stuff…and yeah, I’ve been pretty impressed guys.  After a quick coat of my Jergens and, of course, letting it dry completely, I’m way more confident when wearing white this spring.
