Emma Stone looked young, fresh and chic with her short bob and pretty makeup. Inspired by Emma’s playful Lanvin jumpsuit, celebrity makeup artist, Rachel Goodwin, created a bold look that focused on both a red lip and smoky eye.
“With Emma’s look, we really went fun, coquettish and flirtatious. She wore a jumpsuit with sparkles, not your typical red carpet look. She looked so at home in it. For her makeup, we focused on both eyes and lips, which isn’t the norm — but we wanted something modern and ultra-feminine, not too serious.”
Goodwin used the following products for Emma’s red carpet look:
LIPS
FACE
EYES
- CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Riviera
- CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Black Shimmer
- CHANEL Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir

Mara Roszak, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Hairstylist, says her inspiration was Emma’s custom Lanvin jumpsuit. This completely unexpected look was one of Mara’s all-time favorites and inspired the modern, naturally tousled but not overdone hair look that ensued.
STEP 1: To prep, Mara applied L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Texture Series Tousle Crème to hair for texture
STEP 2: Next, Mara rough dried the hair until almost dry and then spritzed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Txt it Tousle Waves Spray and continued to rough dry completely
STEP 3: With a medium sized round brush, Mara smoothed out the front pieces for a more polished look
STEP 4: With the ghd Classic Wave Wand, Mara took random sections around the head, about 1″ thick, and wrapped them around the barrel. Due to its oval shape, this iron gives the hair a more effortless looking wave
STEP 5: To break up the style and add a slight volume and texture, Mara sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Blow Dry It Longwear Spray
STEP 6: For an added touch, Mara placed a modern silver bar hair accessory by the French designer, Hair Designaccess to the back of Emma’s hair
STEP 7: To finish the look, Mara sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Lock It Weather Control Hairspray to withstand the unexpected rainy LA weather
I love the subtle eye and bold lip on Orange Is The New Black star Taylor Schilling. NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow to create the red carpet makeup look for Taylor Schilling at the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.
Beauty Inspiration: “The inspiration for Taylor’s look was a younger, modern take on Grace Kelly. I wanted to play up her bone structure, her skin and her natural beauty so we went with a clean eye, bold brow and a crisp orange red lip to clash with the scarlet shade of her Ralph Lauren gown.”
Products used on Taylor:
- NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (New for Spring 2015; for now try Sheer Matte Foundation)
- NARS Porto Venere Eye Paint (New for Spring 2015; for now try Abyssinia Matte Eyeshadow)
- NARS Red Square Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
Dakota Johnson’s dress and hair/makeup combo was perfection for the Globes. Dove celebrity stylist Mark Townsend shares his secrets on how he achieved the hair look. “For the Golden Globes, I wanted to give Dakota Johnson effortless texture with a bit of volume and lift.”
- To create this sexy and bendy look, I added four to five drops of Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment to her damp hair.
- Next, I added Dove Oxygen Moisture Root Lift Spray to her roots before blowing out her hair with a large round brush.
- In order to get a unique and imperfect wave, I alternated between a double barrel R Session tool iron and a 1-inch curling iron on 4-inch sections.
- To top it off, I used R+Co Death Valley Dry Shampoo to get that piecey texture.
- Finally, for extra shine and piecey-ness I ran a dime size amount of the new Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Crème Serum through her waves.
Kate Mara is always gorgeous but I especially love this chic hair and muted makeup look. Nominated along with the “House of Cards” cast, Kate stunned on the red carpet with an edgy glam look that complemented her crimson gown and soft peach rose belt. Her makeup artist for the evening, Coleen Campbell-Olwell, shares all:
MAKEUP
STEP 1: Before I start makeup, I always like to cleanse and refresh skin. I used the gentle and convenient Simple Skincare Cleansing Facial Wipes.
STEP 2: Next, I massaged Simple Skincare Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer onto her skin; it hydrates and is perfect for priming, without interfering with the foundation.
STEP 3: After her skin was prepped, I blended Chanel Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup in #20 Clair with a dampened Beauty Blender, then dabbed on Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch in #2 under her eyes to enhance her radiant glow.
STEP 4: Since I was playing up Kate’s eyes, I wanted the blush to be soft-focus. I applied Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion to the apples of her cheeks.
STEP 5: I love a well-groomed eyebrow to frame a sultry eye look, so I defined her brows with DiorShow Brow Styler in Universal Brown.
STEP 6: Since Kate wore a gorgeous crimson dress, we layered smoldering eye shadow tones in warm brown, ebony and rose gold (from the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette). I strengthened the bottom outer lash line with the ebony shade (using a Q-tip to soften the edge) before lining her eyes with a kohl pencil. We finished her eye look by lengthening her lashes with two coats of black mascara.
STEP 7: To finish the look, I used NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Hopi.
HAIR
Hairstylist: Mara Roszak, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Hairstylist
STEP 1: To start the look, Mara washed Kate’s hair using L’Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Smooth Intense Ultimate Straight Shampoo and Conditioner
STEP 2: After washing, Mara applied L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray to speed up the dry time, then rough dried the hair
STEP 3: With a ghd limited-edition Rose Gold Professional 1″ iron, Mara straightened each section to create a modern look
STEP 4: To add texture, Mara sprayed L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle High Lift Creation Spray all over to add hold for the up-do
STEP 5: Next, Mara secured Kate’s short bob into a low pony tail. With a section of hair, Mara wrapped around the pony and secured with bobby pins
STEP 6: To ensure the ends and shorter hairs were extra straight, Mara touched up with the ghd Gold Professional ½” flat iron then finished off with L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray all over
STEP 7: To piece out the pony for a slightly edgy look, Mara sprayed hairspray on fingertips and created rough texture at the ends of hair.
