3 Products That Will Protect the Sh*t Out of Your Hair

Because you gotta protect that hair from the sun/pool/ocean…

When I was packing for my Palm Springs weekend last week, I started thinking about how many protective hair products I use, and pretty much on the regular.  Here are my top three faves right now…

R+Co. Palm Springs Pre-Shampoo Treatment Mask: At first glance I was intrigued by the phrase “pre-shampoo treatment.” I mean, who doesn’t need yet another step in their hair routine, right? #Sarcasm. Jokes aside, this is actually my new favorite product to protect my hair specifically from my pool.  I apply a few pumps of this stuff to my dry hair and boom- protected from the chlorine.  But it’s not just for that.  It’s actually also great for hair that’s worn out from coloring, heat styling, etc. and you can use it before you actually wash your hair OR even sleep with it in. This is for sure my favorite hair product of the summer since my hair has never looked smoother or shinier (at least not since I was a teenager, ha).

Matrix Bond Ultim8: Speaking of damaged hair, this new-ish product from Matrix is amazing for right after you get a color treatment, but also great after a long weekend at the pool or beach.  The formula acts as a buffer for the alkaline agents in the lightening process that preserves the bond, while allowing the lightening to continue to happen. Basically, it’s the go-to for breakage prevention and keeping your colored hair looking healthy and shiny.

Rene Furterer OKARA Radiance Enhancing Spray: I’m usually skeptical of leave-in conditioners (since my hair is fine), but this version is fab.  Okara extract works o repair your hair from within, but what really drew me in was the fact that it detangles, seals in your hair color (to protect it), AND has UV filters to guard against fading and other sun damage.  Oh, and did I mention it smells like heaven? The scent is a mix of grapefruit, peach, raspberry and rose.
