Because switching up your body skincare routine for winter is a MUST…
As a creature of habit myself, I totally get why I constantly hear from you guys how you hate changing up your skincare regimen for winter. I get it. The thing is this- as soon as the weather changes drastically (think: that day you suddenly wonder why you didn’t wear a jacket), your skin will freak out. You may or may not actually see the freak out but, believe me, it’s happening.
What kind of freak out are we talking here?
Dryness, obvi, but also an overall loss of hydration that can result in really annoying inflammation and reddening of the skin. It’s not fun, trust me. I used to deal with this EVERY WINTER that I lived in New York (about 26 to be exact) and I wish I had been more proactive about making a few simple changes that would’ve made a BIG difference.
My biggest winter skincare tips:
- Use a thicker moisturizer (face and body)
- Use a gentle cleanser that hydrates
- Exfoliate less. This means if you exfoliate 2-3 times a week, cut it in half, etc.
- Don’t forget your SPF (yep, you still need to wear it)
All that said, here are four body products you will DIE FOR this winter; each one serves a special purpose and I’ve been using them to the very last drop 🙂
SkinMilk Shower Gel:
Ok so funny story about this brand. A lot of you have been reading my blog for 10+ years (#soblessedsograteful) so you know that I used to do PR. Well, SkinMilk was one of the very first brands I ever worked on as a publicist! I LOVED the products, including this deliciously scented shower gel, and SkinMilk was also the reason I started emailing with the very first beauty bloggers ever (i.e. Nadine Jolie, Amber Katz, Shannon Smyth and so many more!). It’s crazy to think about how this brand is a BIG part of where my career is now and I’m so, so grateful for that fact.
That said, when I randomly stumbled across this shower gel on Amazon I got very excited and ordered two bottles immediately. I’m pretty sure the brand is no more, sadly, but it looks like the one product they still sell is their shower gel! I’m v. into and you will be, too. It’s gentle and enriched with real milk protein, vitamins A, D and E. Oh and, yes…the scent is A++. Scoop it up on Prime. You will thank me later.
Natura Brasil Maracujá Triple Phase Shower Oil:
It’s hard to see in my photos but this shower oil actually has three different oils in it that all sit layered on top of each other. Visually pretty, yes, but I really love it because Maracujá oil is rich in omega 6 and has emollient properties that help maintain an amazing amount of moisture in your skin. There’s something very chic about a good shower oil and this would also make a great holiday gift!
Pistache Skincare Pistachio Body Butter:
I’ve posted about Pistache’s Body Butter (a.k.a the boyfriend body butter) a few times over on IG and I’m still very much into this stuff. The scent is heavenly. LEGIT HEAVENLY because it’s the scent of nutty, lightly sweet pistachio biscotti…yep. It quickly melts into your skin when applied. I swear, the first time I used this product my legs never felt smoother or softer.
Recently I’ve even been putting it on my feet at night and then sleeping with a pair of cotton socks on. Try it- softest feet ever. Before trying this brand I actually didn’t realize how amazing pistachio is for your skin! They’re a great source of vitamin E, fatty acids and lutein; all of which provide essential antioxidant protection and have anti-aging properties for the skin.
MoroccanOil Body Night Body Serum:
A “night” body serum? I wasn’t sold until I read the brand’s clinical study. After only one week of ouse, eight out of 10 women noticed firmer and smoother skin! That was enough for me to give it a whirl and I was not disappointed. This highly concentrated serum is packed with high-performing ingredients that work together to firm and smooth the skin with every application. As a bonus, it also smells really good!
