Let’s Rank Our Wrinkles

Because you guys all know that I’m only slightly wrinkle-obsessed, and by slightly I mean completely.

I blog constantly about new products that I’ve seen actually work to prevent wrinkles, and I blame this obsession on two things: the fact that I’m getting older (not that 32 is really that old), and the fact that I’m getting more incidental sun exposure here in Los Angeles. But here’s the thing…I recently read a super interesting study that RoC Skincare conducted and guess what? California only ranks NUMBER 36 for wrinkles!

And guess which state is number one? NEW YORK. Can you even? My home state ranks first when it comes to skin most at risk for aging from lifestyle, occupation and environment. Apparently New Yorkers reported very high scores for being “dissatisfied with life,” “lacking emotional support” and they also have the second longest commute time. Hmmm…sounds familiar, but I’m still kind of in shock that a sunnier state isn’t ranked number one, which just goes to show you that the sun is a sneaky little b*tch and the best way to prevent wrinkles is simply being informed (much like preventing skin cancer).

In a continued effort to help consumers better understand aging skin, RoC Skincare, an anti-aging pioneer, partnered with independent research firm, Sperling’s Best Places, to release the second annual Wrinkle Ranking. While last year’s study highlighted the 50 most wrinkle-prone cities, the 2015 ranking transcends city limits – determining a given populations’ propensity for wrinkles based off the state in which they reside.

I don’t know about you guys but I had no idea that something like commute time and high elevation would ever commute to aging skin, but it does.

So what can you do? Like I said, just being informed is really the most important thing. You should already be using SPF every day (especially if you regularly read my blog), but adding retinol into your daily skincare regimen will also help prevent wrinkles and fine lines from forming.  It’s because of this I know what kind of research and technology they put into all of their products and, guys, it’s honestly one of the best drugstore brand retinol products that you can buy! They even have a great line for sensitive skin if you’re normally a little sensitive to retinol and other anti-aging products.
