Favorite Breast Cancer Awareness Beauty Products

Because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month…

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been nine months since my cousin, Robin, passed away from breast cancer, at the too-young age of 60.  This year, in particular, I felt it important to share a few of my favorite Breast Cancer Awareness-created beauty products, and also share a few vital statistics that are crucial for ALL women to know (the last one, in particular, blew my mind).  Hopefully by continuing to bring awareness to this diseases, we can prevent many breast cancer cases from taking away more of our loved ones.

BREAST CANCER STATS YOU NEED TO KNOW*:

  • 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer over the course of their lifetime.
  • For women in the U.S., breast cancer death rates are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer.
  • About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer. These occur due to genetic mutations that happen as a result of the aging process and life in general, rather than inherited mutations.

This post is lovingly dedicated to Robin Burns. May she rest in peace.

JOICO Pink Dust Shimmer Finishing Spray: Aside from being perfect for Halloween (hello JEM!), this pink dust shimmer spray is an awesome, light hair spray.  Non-sticky, brushable and, of course, proceeds go towards Joico’s partnership with City of Hope.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser: A cleanser that foams, exfoliates and cleanses? Yes, please.  The 100% toxin-free raw sugar scrub, which is specially formulated to gently buff away dead cells, pollutants and other debris, reveals smooth, glowing skin. Organic lemongrass and raw, nonabrasive sugar crystals even texture as alpha hydroxy acids and acai extract promote firmness, boost circulation and reduce sagging. Chamomile combines with olive oil to soften and condition dry, rough patches for supple, flake-free skin.

Suki will be donating 100% of proceeds from October sales of the exfoliate foaming cleanser to Breast Cancer Action, an organization with the mission is to achieve health justice for all women at risk of and living with breast cancer.

Jane Iredale Smell The Roses Hydration Spray: You guys know how I feel about beauty products that smell like roses, so I was especially excited when I found out that 100% of profits from the sale of Smell the Roses Hydration Spray will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer in support of women affected by breast cancer.  This moisturizing facial spritz features organic rose damascena flower water, which is an excellent skin tonic and cleanses the skin, calms inflammation and reduces redness without disturbing its natural protective shield. The refreshing and uplifting rose fragrance de-stresses and promotes an overall feeling of wellbeing. Smell the Roses is recommended for any skin types, especially dry or sensitive skin, but may also be used as a moisturizer for oily skin or to wet makeup brushes to create precise lines.

June Jacobs Rapid Repair Healing Cream: June’s personal battle with radiation dermatitis while undergoing treatment for breast cancer is what inspired her to develop this therapeutic cream. The clinically-tested face and body treatment helps soothe irritation, reinforce the skin’s barrier protection, smooth uneven textured skin, provide free radical protection from external assaults promoting healthy looking skin, and provide up to 24-hour moisturization.

During the month of October, 25% of the net proceeds from every product purchased will be donated to The Anne Moore Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo: Drybar has one of the best dry shampoos, in my humble opinion, so this mini version of their Detox Dry Shampoo in a pink bottle is pretty fantastic.  Drybar will be contributing $1 dollar per bottle sold to The City of Hope. (Note: The dry shampoo contains the original formula and will not make your hair pink!)
