Kiehl’s Since 1851’s 4th Annual LifeRide for amfAR Finale in LA!

life ride

If you’re in the LA area today, you need to stop by The Grove from 12-3pm.  Kiehl’s (one of my favorite brands ever) has embarked on a nine-day philanthropic motorcycle ride from Seattle to Los Angeles, to raise funds and awareness for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research.

The finale (at The Grove) will include a celebrity ride up, a check presentation ceremony with Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone (!), performances by Kelis and DJ Spinderella, an interactive photo booth with Harley-Davidson, temporary tattoo artists and more. The event is free and open to the public.

Kiehl’s will also offer a Celebration Discount of 15% off all purchases, with the exception of charitable products and value sets, all day TODAY, and will donate that 15% difference to amfAR, up to the $125,000 total donation.  Take advantage of the discount, guys!  Check out some of my favorite Kiehl’s products HERE.

Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer

kiehls_skin_rescuer

I recently received a bottle of the new Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer and, let me tell you, I’m wowed…once again.  Back in 2006/2007, I suffered from my first bout with acne…adult acne, to be exact, and it was really not fun.  I grew up having perfect skin; seriously, I don’t remember getting a zit EVER until like maybe college (and during my period).  So, naturally, when I found myself breaking out at age 23…I went a little ballistic, which definitely made my skin even more stressed out than it already was from the acne and rosacea combo.

In Kiehl’s studies, they’ve found that skin is actually the first of the body’s organs that stress begins to appear, showing up with signs of redness, fatigue, dehydration, blotchiness and overall visible signs of aging.  The clinical results from testing showed a 100 percent improvement in overall skin quality, when applied in the morning and at night – so easy.  SOLD.

Kiehl’s Partners With DonorsChoose.org

We all know about my obsession with Kiehl’s…but not only do they make good products (seriously, they’re amazing), they also make good choices.  I love the fact that they are so philanthropic and what I love even more is the fact that they’re giving us a CHOICE.

In their latest do-good project, Kiehl’s has partnered up with DonorsChoose.org, so you can actually have a say where the money goes for your purchase.

Beginning March 11 through April 15, Kiehl’s will offer its 3.4 oz Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate in a specially-designed carton that highlights DonorsChoose.org. Consumers will receive a $50 Donors Choose gift code, which they can use online to donate to science and education programs across the country. You get to choose where your donation goes…I like CHOICE people…it’s all about the CHOICE. And, as an added bonus, the winning organization sends out handmade thank you notes.  Tres cute.

DonorsChoose.org is a remarkable nationwide organization that makes it easy for anyone to help students in need. Through DonorsChoose.org, public school teachers can post requests for their classroom, requests that can include anything from classroom computers to books, art supplies to other teaching materials. Donors can search by location, school or subject to find projects and donate to those that most inspire them. Once projects are fully funded, DonorsChoose.org then purchases the requested items and delivers them to the teacher – ensuring the funds are used specifically for the posted project.  Donors are then personally thanked with letters and photos from the teacher and students.

When all’s said and done, $50,000 will be distributed to worthy educational causes through the Kiehl’s and DonorsChoose.org partnership, which is nothing to scoff at, especially when you’re also getting an AMAZING skincare product to boot.  And where did I chose to donate?  Well, I’m from New York…and I’m absolutely terrible at math, so there you go.

Kiehl’s honors Earth Day with celebrity-designed packaging

If you read my tweets, then you know I have a major brand crush on Kiehl’s.  What’s not to love? Their products WORK and they’re very serious about several philanthropy projects, including Earth Day.  Who designed the gorgeous Deep Pore Cleansing Masque this year?  While it was hard to top last year’s designers (you can see here), Kiehl’s tapped Florence Welch, Rosario Dawson, Mark Ruffalo and Spike Lee to create limited-edition versions of the product, available online at Kiehls.com and in stores now – just in time for Earth Day.  Just an FYI, ALL PROCEEDS benefit Recylce Across America.  Pretty rad.

Check out InStyle.com to see all four designs.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution

My biggest skin complaint is by far and away the fact that I have hyperpigmenation (e.g. acne “scars,” which are really not scars but in fact, post-acne red marks).  It makes it really hard to just run out of the house with out at least throwing on some tinted moisturizer and honestly, it drives me crazy.  I was sent a bottle of the new Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution and so far I’ve been really impressed with the results.

According to Kiehl’s, 55% of women clinically demonstrated a significant reduction in dark spot intensity in as little as two weeks AND, in eight weeks, a whopping 87% of women demonstrated more uniform skin tone to deliver breakthrough clarity- sounds good to me.  The secret ingredient?  Activated C, a photo-stable ingredient that is 100% active on contact.  The complex slows down the production and transfer of melanin and is proven to have an anti-cluster affect on existing spots and imperfections, breaking them apart before they form.

Kiehl’s, Michael C. Hall and Chloë Sevigny team up for clean water in honor of Earth Day

So I attended a fab party the other night at Kiehl’s on Montana Avenue in Santa Monica in honor of Earth Day.  The staple skincare brand teamed up with Michael C. Hall (“Dexter”) and Chloe Sevigny (“Big Love”) to create a limited editon collection of Kiehl’sRare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque with 100% of net proceeds benefitting Waterkeeper Alliance, a charity founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., that supports local Waterkeeper programs to provide a voice for waterways and their communities worldwide.

There were plenty of other celebs in attendance as well- we spotted Stephanie Pratt (“The Hills”) at the restaurant next door and then at the party, Kristin Cavallari (also of “The Hills”) who embraced Stephanie with a hug as soon as she walked in.  Mario Lopez was there with his wife, as well as Sam Trammell from “True Blood,” who is even cuter in person.
