The Monday Rundown: Halloween Edition

Pumpkin-shaped Chocolate Cake: I haven’t actually tried this recipe (since I have zero backing skills) but I love that it’s just two bundt cakes put together with an ice cream cone as the stem.

GAP 1969 Leopard Jeggings: The Current/Elliot version has been all the rage in the blogosphere, and I like them, but I think this darker, more subtle version is a little more me and definitely more versatile.

Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Candle: The combo of cinnamon and pumpkin is absolutely amazing, calming and reminds me of when I lived in New York and we had actual seasons.

LUSH Jacko Bath Bomb: This bath bomb doesn’t actually smell like pumpkin.  However, the spicy clove bud and spearmint combo has a lot of gusto and I’m just a big fan of bath bombs in general.

Veuve Clicquot Second Annual Polo Classic Los Angeles

Yesterday was just one of those gorgeous LA days that makes me happy to be living in southern California and to make things even better, it was the second annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic!  I went to the first match last year and had the best time so when I heard they were coming back again, I gathered a big group of friends to come with and enjoy the champagne, horses and Pretty Woman-esque attire (see below).  Though we weren’t in the VIP section (I mean, I know, right?) FabSugar did an awesome job of reporting on what all the celeb attendees wore, including Rachel Zoe, Jaime King and Ali Larter and, my friends and I even made the Getty Images page, lol.  You know you’re someone when…

Check out my friend Kelsi’s blog, Dedicated-Follower for even more photos from the fun day.

Brilliant Idea: RentTheRunway.com

Lately I’ve been saying the classic quote “why didn’t I think of that?” to myself a lot.  I think the old quarter life crisis has been rearing it’s ugly head since a few of my friends and family have been working on/contemplating grad school, coming up with amazing business ideas and generally just doing really innovative things with their life…which, of course, makes me feel like I need to come up with an equally, if not better, idea.

Enter RentTheRunway.com.  I was invited to an event at one of my favorites, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, so naturally, I was excited to attend.  What makes this such a “I went to Harvard Business school idea” (and yes, I’m coining this term) is that dude, dresses are expensive.  In a town like LA or NYC, you’re probably going to two or three events per week and how many times can you really wear that LBD?  This is a problem that I always have.  Texts go back and forth with friends that say “what are you wearing?  I hate everything that I own and everything that I don’t hate, I’ve worn in the last two weeks.”  The absolute WORST.  With Rent The Runway, you can literally rent dresses, accessories, and jewlery for any special event that you have…and I’m talking like NICE dresses too.  Sure, you might be giving up $100 bucks but you’re getting a designer dress so it’s especially awesome if you know there will be tons of photos happening.  I mean, celebs borrow their clothes so why shouldn’t you?

Boots, I Need Them Now

I spent this past weekend in New York for a mix of work and family fun and I have to say, I was really into the fall weather.  I pretty much forgot what seasons feel like since moving to LA and I really took pleasure in taking my nephew to the park while wearing tall boots and a blazer with a scarf.  So cozy.  One of my favorite shoe sites, Sole Society, is having a fab boots sale that you should definitely check out – all the boots are cute and, most importantly, affordable.  What are you wearing this fall?  I’m loving glitter mixed with autumn colors (left).
