Obsessed: Sole Society Alessandra Snake Wedge

I’ve so never been one of those Carrie Bradshaw wannabe shoe girls but ladies, I can not get enough of Haute Look’s Sole Society.  As you may already know, I’m a Sole Society Fashion Insider so yeah, I get behind-the-scenes access to the new shoes before the rest of you, sorry to brag.  I was recently sent this fab pair of red “Sandra” shoes (below) that were from my June “closet” (so sorry girls, they’re no longer available but how cute are they?) and  I love them for work since they’re great for a pop of color.

Anywho, back to the wedges.  I love the “Alessandra” wedges with jeans or a cute summer dress and they’re great cause they’re four inches which, for me, is the perfect shoe height…making me about 5’10.

Blowfish Malibu Spring/Summer Collection

In additon to never turning a party down at Soho House, I will also never reject any kind of pedicure.  I was invited to a fun night of pedis and sandals courtesy of Blowfish Malibu and so basically, I couldn’t ask for a better night.  I sat back, enjoyed some champagne and got a pedi with a gorgeous coral Essie color and chatted with my girl, Allison McNamara from FabSugar!

Of course, the perfect ending to any pedicure is…a new pair of shoes.  I left with the Makai sandals in grey, which I actually wore out of the nail salon and on to the Radio Shack party (where LMFAO performed) and they were chic yet still really comfortable.

DIY Neon Necklace Statement Piece

I’ve always been a crafter but over the years, I definitely haven’t dedicated as much time to “creating” as I should. Michael’s, pretty much the best craft store ever, approached me with a challenge to create a summer statement piece and naturally, I was thrilled to take them up on the offer. Confession: I’ve been dying to make this amazing neon statement necklace that my DIY friend Kristen created a few weeks back. Ok, so my statement piece wasn’t exactly my idea but nonetheless, I’m still super excited about it and totally obsessed with my creation (inspiration above).

Kristen got her necklace at Forever21 but I actually already had an old rhinestone necklace that I bought for Halloween and my Moulin Rouge Christina A. costume. I then used Michael’s CraftSmart Acrylic Paint Neon Paint Pot to paint each individual rhinestone, which gave me the best neon colors and since I didn’t really need much paint to cover each rhinestone, the little pots were the perfect size to purchase.

BONUS! Michael’s has a great online coupon, valid starting July 3! Get it HERE.

The result!

FTC Disclosure: Michael’s provided me with a $50 gift card to purchase any items I needed to complete my statement piece but all opinions are my own.

Barney’s New York and NARS Pre-Fall Celebration at Soho House West Hollywood

I will never say no to a party at Soho House. Plain and simple.  Add in one of the most decadent stores ever (Barney’s New York) and one of the best makeup brands of all time (NARS) and there’s not even any room for negotiation.  Barney’s and NARS partnered to celebrate the pre-Fall collections and guests were treated to an amazing Q&A with Francois Nars himself and Barney’s Fashion Director, Amanda Brooks.

The event was held in one of Soho House’s private rooms and we got to listen to Francois discuss his vision for the brand as well as hear Amanda discuss Fall 2011 fashion trends like rich burgundy’s, greens, teals, lady-like details and unconventional hemlines. And hint, pointy toe heels are definintely back.  I’m also loving the NARS pre-Fall makeup collection (pictured above) because how amazing and rich are those colors?  The blue eyeshadow is seriously intense, in a good way.

Not the best photo but NARS makeup artists where available for touch-ups and I attempted what I like to call “the starter bold lip” using NARS “Manhunt” lipstick, which I’m now obsessed with.

Ideal Woman Collection by Allie Pohl

When my friend Katie tells me that I need to meet someone, I listen.  Allie Pohl, a very talented artist and jewelry designer, just moved to LA from Denver and we planned a little girl date at Shutters by the beach in Santa Monica so we could discuss LA and her collection, Ideal Woman, over cocktails.

Now, I wasn’t exactly sure what kind of “art” Allie was into exactly, since when I asked Katie about it she said “she designs vaginas,” in true Katie fashion.  Allie filled me in on the actual story, vaginas included.  Allie created a series of sculptures using Barbie and Chia Pets to explore the cultural trend of women not wanting any body hair, which is what led to her Ideal Woman collection.  “I was captivated by the shape of the midsection and started to explore different ways to appropriate the shape,” she told ELLE.com.  “Creating a jewelry line was a way to bring my mesage into pop culture and simultaneously be a part of pop culture.”

Personally, I’m obsessed with the mirror version and what’s really cool about these necklaces is that most people would never guess what it actually is, until you explain it and they go “OMG, that’s awesome,” which is what I get every time I wear mine.  As a bonus, Allie is an all-around awesome girl and I’m sure we’ll be enjoying many more beach cocktails together.

BECKLEY blogger styling competion!

Tonight was definitely a fun night.  I was invited by the super chic BECKLEY Boutique in West Hollywood to style a mannequin that will be displayed in their store for a few weeks(!) for customers to vote on their favorite look!

Naturally, I was elated and honored.  It was a tough decision but I ended up going with the look to the left – a Camilla and Marc bow and arrow dress topped with a brown studded suede jacket and gold chain link bib necklace (both not available online). This is a very “Jamie” outfit; you’ve got a cute dress (that shows the cleavage), studs and a statement necklace, all of which I totally love.

I have to admit, the other bloggers who are participating in the contest are definitely some tough competition so please vote for me, if you like my look 🙂

Make sure to “like” BECKLEY on Facebook, follow them on Twitter (and vote for me!)

The Monday Rundown

New series alert!  Every Monday I’m going to bring four things to you that are currently making me happy.  A little happy dose for the worst day of the week! Sigh.

T By Alexander Wang One Shoulder Dress: I tried this dress on at Fred Segal a few weeks ago but they didn’t have my size (as I mentioned here).  I couldn’t resist so I ended up ordering the LSD (Little Sage Dress) from ShopBop.com and liked it SO much that I then ordered the same version in black.  The bad news?  Both versions are now on sale and I paid full price.  Get them on sale (since I didn’t)!  The sage version is marked down to $99 (from $165) and the black version is marked down to $82.50 (also from $165)!

Birthday Cake in a Jar: As of late, I’ve been consumed with the idea of cakes in a jar.  It’s weird, I know, but I’m thinking it may be a side affect from this super strict diet that I’m currently on (more about that later…so not Monday appropriate).  This recipe looks fairly easy, for the baking-retarded like myself, and is pretty and festive.

NARS Nail Polish in “Orgasm”: Everyone raves about the color “Orgasm” from NARS and I’ve always agreed – the color is pretty and works well on almost all skin tones.  And then I came across the nail polish version and became and even bigger believer.  I want, no, I NEED this color for summer.

“All You Need Is Love” hand painted wall decor: The famous Beatles quote is, simply put, just lovely hand-painted on a wooden plank.  The artist makes these in Northern California and can even customize color and size.  I’m contemplating this for my entry way.  Thoughts?
