This Week’s Online Shopping Haul

For me, this week has been just a little bit crazy.  I never considered myself a “stress shopper” but alas, I think I might just be that since last night happened.  I decided that I was going to buy myself four things that I’ve been coveting but haven’t had the, for lack of a better word, balls to actually buy myself.  You know what?  I deserve it.  And I can’t wait for everything to arrive…god bless online shopping.

Jessica Elliot Double Floating Finger Candy Ring: My friend Chelsea had a similar ring that she scored from Forever21; however, they’re totally sold out so of course, I am forced to buy the version that costs $175.  C’est la vie.

Weekend trip to Las Vegas(!): My good friend Maura was assigned a spa story that just so happens to be located in Vegaaaaas (she’s a very fancy Lucky magazine senior editor) so she asked me if I wanted to come out a few days early to hang with her.  Actually, her exact email said “don’t you LA people go to Vegas like every weekend?”  Yes Maura, we most certainly want to. And this time, we WILL.  I bought a Delta flight going to Vegas and a Spirit (?) airlines ticket for the way back to LA.  The “?” after Spirit indicates my desire to not crash and die since I’ve never heard of this airline.

Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica: I blogged about this a-pause-mazing moisturizer back in March after receiving a few mini samples of the product and absolutely loving it.  My skin is like the sahara 90% of the time and this is the first moisturizer in a looong time to actually do the trick, which is exactly why I don’t mind spending my actual hard-earned money on this product.  And note, I hardly ever actually buy my own beauty products so that should say a LOT.

T by Alexander Wang One Shoulder Dress: I bought this dress in the “sage” green color about two weeks ago after trying the dress on at Fred Segal.  I wore the sage version to Soho House the other night and loved it so much that I decided I needed the black version as well.  A woman can never have too many LBD’s, you know?

Obsessed: English Weddings Hats

So I can not lie, I honestly couldn’t care less about the royal wedding.  I know, I know…I get that it’s a huge deal for England and sure, I’m happy for William and Kate but it was just a little too much for me.  However, I DVR’d a bit of the ceremony (I figured hey, it’s probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch, right?) and I can’t stop obsessing over the amazing unique hats that everyone was wearing.  I mean WHAT a fantastic concept.  Weddings don’t happen super often so why not take the opportunity to dress up and express yourself via “head art”?

After looking through tons of photos, I’ve selected my top 6 choices; some are argued to be the fashion mistakes of the event but I don’t care!  Most of the hats were created by England’s resident hat guru, Philip Treacy.  Apparently Philip has been designing hats for celebs and royals alike for years; and, according to InStyle.com, the Irish-born designer has even designed hats for American stars such as Lady Gaga, Demi Moore and Sarah Jessica Parker– love it.  Here are my favorite hats from the big deal (and yes, I don’t care what you, Gawker or anyone else says, I looooooove Princess Beatrice’s Lady Gaga hat- it is EVERYTHING.)  Which were your favorites?

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice in Philip Treacy hats

David Beckham, Victoria Beckham in a Philp Treacy hat

Charlene Wittstock in Akris

Sophie Winkleman (designer unknown)

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson in Philip Treacy

Kitty Spencer and guests (designer unknown but these girls look like they’d be on “The Hills” London)

Sponsored Post: Flip Flops and Why I Love Them

So living in California, it’s only to be expected that I’m super fond of “the flop.”  They’re just.so.comfortable…and as of late, I’m particularly obsessed with Havaianas.  These women’s sandals are awesome because not only are they like walking on air, but they also come in super fun patterns and designs.  My favorite of the moment?  The sexy snake patterned version.  Silvery grey flip flops are a must-have for any summer wardrobe since it matches pretty much everything and the snake pattern takes the fun up a notch.  I’ll be wearing these with my new black bikini by the pool.

LUSH and Gucci For Japan Relief

So by now everyone knows about the terrible state Japan is currently in.  I was awake when the news broke about the earthquakes and tsunami that hit Japan and I sat in terror and utter fear thinking about how scared the people of Japan must’ve been.  I studied abroad in Japan in winter of 2004 and I have to say, as someone who has traveled all over the world and has been to four continents, Japan is one of the most amazing, dynamic and unique places that I’ve traveled to.  It truly saddens me what Japanese citizens are facing but, at the same time, I’m also happy to see that brands are doing what they can to contribute.

Two of my favorite products?  LUSH Charity Pot which retaisl for $5 (all proceeds go to Peace Boat, a non-profit dedicated to transporting aid to those affected by the disaster) and Gucci’s limited-edition calfskin bracelet that reads “Gucci loves you.”  And yes, Gucci does love you, Japan.  In fact, while traveling around Japan, I’ve never seen more Gucci in my life so I can’t think of a better statement to make to support the Japanese people.  Gucci’s bracelet launces TODAY for $100 (quite the bargain for Gucci) and features the colors of the Japanese flag (red and white).  All proceeds will benefit the Red Cross.

JustFabulous launch party with celeb stylist Jessica Paster

So I attended the launch party celebration for a new shoe membership club, JustFabulous at Eveleigh in Hollywood hosted by celebrity stylist, Jessica Paster.  I brought my friend Sydne as my plus one (make sure to check out her fab fashion coverage of the event) and aside from the fun event, we were shocked we had never been to Eveleigh because it was so pretty!

Pretty Hollywood venue aside, we got the chance to pick out a pair of JustFab shoes (I went with a gold platform heel that Sydne spotted for me) and the celeb spotting was just as good as expected thanks to the host of the night, Jessica Pastor.  Look at how grown up Dakota Fanning is now!  God, I feel old.
