Inspired by Vegas poolside

So I’ve had Vegas on the brain lately and once my friend, Nadine Jolie, revealed that she wants to spend her upcoming 30th birthday poolside sipping Vegas cocktails, I’ve been on the prowl for the ultimate Vegas bikini and pool attire.  When it comes to Las Vegas, I believe in the phrase “go hard or go home” so why not go all out and play up the bling?

Frederick’s of Hollywood Limited Edition Rhinestone Rings bikini set – I actually have a similar bikini that doesn’t quite have the same”bling factor.”  This a good cut on me (and most women) and I love the circle details that make it a little different.

Tory Burch Oversized Round Sunglasses with Buckle Details – Very Jackie O.  They’re big to block out the Vegas sun and also hide the bags that will form under my eyes as a result of not sleeping for days at a time.

Kenneth Cole Reaction Cedar Springs wedge – These wedges are fab because they’ll take you from day to night plus they match literally eveything in your closet.

Coach fashion blogger collaboration!

So I was literally elated when I found out about Coach’s recent collaboration with four fantastic fashion bloggers and finally, here’s your chance to snatch one up!  My personal favorite is Kelly’s Drawstring Pouch but they are seriously ALL adorable.  And, if you’re in New York City, head over to the Madison Avenue Coach store on June 8th to meet the girls!  Check out the details HERE.

A Night of LUX: A Fashionable Fight Against Cancer

So the other night, the lovely Sydne Summer, of ThinkThruFashion.com, invited me to drive down to Orange County with her to attend an amazing charity event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  The society’s own Woman of the Year nominee, Elizabeth Wahler, hosted the event at her a-mazing Corona del Mar estate and I’m talking breathtaking ocean views, infinity pool, garden, the works.  The event auction had some really fab fashion items and Sydne even bid on a sicko YSL bag…but unfortunately, she was outbid!  Regardless, we were happy to pose for pics, sip cocktails and enjoy the spectacular view for such a great cause.

If You Have to Go Cry, Go Outside: And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You

So the title reads true for me, my mother never told me to go outside if I have to cry.  It sounds harsh, but it’s probably some good advice for any woman in the business world.  I was pleasantly surprised by Kelly’s book.  When I bought it, I was expecting 200 pages on how smart and awesome she is and basically a love letter to herself but what was actually published is an honest and real tale of  how she basically hit rock bottom (with some scary drug habits) before she started People’s Revolution and ended up at the top.

When I read the first reference she made to cocaine and crystal meth, I was so shocked that I actually read the sentence twice.  I thought “my GOD, she owns a business, she really wants to put that out there?” but that’s just Kelly Cutrone for you.  She’s real.  And smart.  And I’m the first to admit that I actually like and respect the woman, especially when she goes into how she tried to convince her daughter, Ava, that she shouldn’t buy into the whole Disney princess thing. “From Snow White to Belle, every woman is damaged until some guy shows up and makes everything okay.”

She failed, but it was a valient effort.

I’ve had many bosses in my PR career…some were smart, some weren’t so smart.  Some were nice, some were mean bitches.  The thing about PR that has always bothered me is the lying and “spinning” of the truth.  And, according to Kelly, “why shouldn’t a publicist tell the truth?”  I  too have a real issue with lying and being dishonest, which is why a smile actually came to my face when I read a quote from Kelly’s 4th chapter :

“Speaking the truth has made me some enemies.  But it has also gotten me much further than I would have otherwise progressed in life.  Let’s face it: being nice does not always remove obstacles, and in fact sometimes it creates them.  That’s why, the next time you hug someone you secretly despise and say ‘it’s great to see you,’ I want you to bite your lip.  You don’t have to say anything you do not mean, and I urge you not to.”

COACHELLA Essentials

So I’ll be attending my very first COACHELLA this weekend and I’m simply so excited I can barely think about anything else.  One, I’ve never been to Palm Springs and two, my friends and I rented an amazing mansion and I’m looking forward to a long weekend of relaxing by the pool, parties and, of course, plenty of sun.  I’ve been asking around what I should be packing for my little trip to the desert  and everyone’s been telling me that for one, it’s H-O-T hot and also kind of hippyish.  Here’s what I’m thinking:

Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Sunblock Spray SPF 70 – No explanation really necessary.  The desert sun is super strong and what I love about this sunblock is that the spray actually cools you off, making the re-application process even more enticing.

Epicuren Aloe Vera Gel – No matter how many times I apply and re-apply sunblock, I always seem to miss at least a little spot of skin that results in a burn.  This luxurious aloe vera gel soothes the skin and promotes faster healing.

Green Ruffled Forever21 Romper – A birthday gift from my friends Kelley and Gil.  It’s really perfect and very me.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Hillier bag – I just purchased this bag from my beloved Shopbop.com and its already sold out in black on the site!  It’s a perfect Coachella bag because of the great strap that can also make it a messenger bag.

A87 solid fedora – LOVE this hat and it’s super cheap.  It’s important to protect my scalp and hair color (it fades in the sun!) from the sun’s harmful rays.  Plus, I like how I look in hats.

Seychelles Layover gladiator sandals – I bought these gladiators a few months ago and I wear them at least 4 times a week.  They’re super comfortable and I love their slightly edgy look.
