St. Patrick’s Day Beauty Products! (Irish Girl-Approved)

Growing up with fair skin wasn’t easy, to say the least.  I can’t even tell you how many summers I spent in the shade, slathered in sunblock, watching my friends rub baby oil on their skin and soon after get the sexiest golden tan that you could possibly imagine.  It’s a simple fact: being pale with freckles wasn’t desirable when I was a teenager; however, now, at almost 30, I am SO GLAD that I was born with freckled, Irish skin that I was given.  Why?  Well, for one, I look way younger (and age slower) than everyone else and it’s really just now that I’m starting to appreciate that little fact.  Sure, a nice tan makes you look thinner, but that’s what spray tans are for…I digress.  With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, I got to thinking about my fair-skinned beauty tricks that I’ve learned over the years, mixed with a little Irish makeup fun.

Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel! My manager has been giving me tips and my videos are definitely getting better, if I do say so myself, haha.

Featured in the video:

Neutrogena Beach Defense Water + Sun Sunscreen SPF 30: a MUST for everyone. Learn more about their Helioplex Complex HERE.

Fusion Beauty PrimeResults Anti-Redness Primer: This primer is great for fair, Irish skin since rosacea is quite common.  The primer has claims that show 50% reduction in overall redness after only six weeks.

Lancome Flash Bronzer Anti-Age: Every pale-skinned girl needs a good self-tanner!  I’m a longtime fan of Lancome’s tanning products; they don’t streak and they give a natural bronzy glow.

Sue Devitt Hydrating Marine Minerals Eye Palette in “Green Isles”: Probably the prettiest green eye palette that you’ll ever find.

COVERGIRL Liquiline Blast eyeliner in “Green Glow”: If you want a subtle green eyes look for St. Patrick’s Day, this bright green eyeliner is the way to go.

Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Glam Hazel Eyes mascara: Gold mascara? YES.  It reminds me of the whole “pot o’ gold” thing that used to make me so excited as a little kid.

Spring Makeup Palettes

So I’m the first to admit that I’m a total sucker for pretty packaging, which is exactly why I’m also a sucker for makeup that just looks gorgeous…oh, and it’s also actually really good makeup on top of the pretty presentation.

Stila Garden Bliss Palette – Inspired by fresh organic flowers, this palette instantly enhances your skin, leaving your complexion radiant and luminous…and I love that you can use it on your eyes, cheeks, face and decollete.

Lancome Desert Rose Blush – It’s just sooo pretty and fun.  This all-over powder gives you a super subtle shine.  I love that’s it’s sort of a “new” mix between shaded tones of summer bronze, berry red and soft pinks.

Physician’s Formula Cashmere Wear Ultra-Smoothing Bronzer – As son as I saw the braided texture of this bronzer, I immediately had to touch it.  The ultra-luxurious powder has the classic look and feel of cashmere, leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and nourished.  And yes, this product actually does contain 100% cashmere extract on top of moisturizing hyaluronic acid and soft focus pearls.

Spring Beauty Picks!

So spring is here and I have a slew of new favorite beauty products that I have to share with you:

Kate Somerville Tanning Towelettes: When I first heard about tanning towelettes, I had my doubts…but these are the ulitmate in tanning wipes.  They’re paraben-free and the result is totally natural and streak-free.

Crabtree & Evelyn Creme De Menthe Lip Butter: Besides the fact that the packaging is uber spring, I’m loving the creamy mint taste that this lip butter leaves on my lips.  It’s super moisturizing and leaves the slightest tint of color on your pout.

Suave Dry Shampoo: I’m a huge fan of dry shampoo, and especially when it costs less than $10.  Suave’s version is fab and it also has a fun lemon scent that makes me feel like I’m on vacation.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow: I’m always a little intimidated by eye shadow in any unordinary form but when I tried these out, I was pleasantly surprised.  The mineral-infused, paraben-free formula is perfect for delicate skin since it boasts soothing aloe and vitamin E. As a special bonus, each shade is named after a different breed of dog (!) and Bare Escentuals is making a charitable contribution to Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilitiesby providing highly trained assistance dogs.

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara: I loved the orginal, non-jumbo version, and it’s like one of my favotrite mascaras got even bigger and better.  This 100% natural mascara not only boots your lashes but it does so without all the nasty ingredients getting in your eyes and destroying your lashes.

Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder

So who doesn’t love being happy?  I’m way into this new line because Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Powder is pretty amazing.  Happy Booster is the first ever makeup line created to stimulate happiness.  Yes, you read that right…makeup that stimulates happiness.  The ingredients are specially formulated to boost your mood- the color combination, texture and aroma all work together to give you a “happy boost,” if you will, which I’m seriously obsessing over.  Makeup should make people happy.  I know what you’re thinking though…what exactly actually boosts your mood?  Well this product contains Euphoryl, rich in Omega 3 and a known anti-depressant is in this baby in addition to a mood-enhancing fragrance and “happy skin,” which is derived from Arctic Rose, which mimics the effect of endorphins, also known as “happy  molecules,” for a sense of wellness and pleasure.

What’s even more interesting is the survey that Physician’s Formula conducted a Kelton’s survey on happiness.  I think anyone going through their quarter life crisis pretty much assumes that they’re the only one feeling down in the dumps but according to this survey, that’s not even close to the truth.  Only 18% of women are reported as being at their happiest!  ANd 39% said they aren’t as happy as often as they would like to be.

The fact that over 76% of women also reported that happiness can be found with the simpler things in life further proves that all makeup should make you happy.  Thoughts?

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara

So lately I’m obsessing over Physician’s Formula.  I’ve posted about two other products that I absolutely adore and this mascara doesn’t put either of them to shame.  Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara is the first ever 100% natural origin mascara where 100% of the total ingredients are of natural origin AND even the mascara brush and packagine are 100% recyclable.  Worried that because this product is so natural it might not work well?  I worry about that too usually but I’m telling you, this mascara is awesome- even better than some of the non-natural brands that I’ve tried.

Halloween 2009: Lady Gaga…the look achieved

So Halloween.  I posted about how I was going to dress up as Lady GaGa and I’m happy to say that my costume was a huge success.  Sure, there were a few people who thought I was a member of KISS…and a few who thought I was trying to be Jem…but for the most part, I think people got it.  I owe a big thank you to the amazing product I used to make Lady GaGa’s famous black lightening bolt, Physician’s Formula Eye Definer Felt Tip Eye Marker.  My friend Kelley put her artistic skills to use and was shocked at how easy it was to draw the lightening bolt with this product.  Plus, it didn’t smudge, melt or move ALL night.  The photo isn’t great but you can see how awesome this product worked for my Lady GaGa look 😉
