Summer’s FOMO moments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you read my blog on the regular, then you probably already know about the modern day FOMO.  Ahhhh, the Fear Of Missing Out: a recognized anxiety (seriously, it is) that something amazing is going on somewhere…and you’re missing out on it.  For example, when your friends all go on vacation to Cabo, which you couldn’t go on, because you have an evil boss, and you see a STREAM of Instagram photos that make you want to drown your sorrows in whiskey.  That’s just ONE example…and speaking of whiskey, I’m pretty into this new contest that Jack Daniels is doing on behalf of their Tennessee Honey alcohol.  The blend of whiskey and honey liqueur is a little bit of honey, and a whole lot of Jack, which makes for an AMAZING summer drink.  It’s a superb mixer for an unexpected twist on summer cocktails.

As for the contest, you are gonna want to enter the Jack Summer Swarm contest.  The most awesome photo wins a $5,000 travel voucher for the ultimate summer trip.  Popular vote will decide the top contenders and then the Jack Daniels judges will make the final call. That means you should be driving your friends jealous with all your “Can’t believe you missed this” moments, but make sure they’re voting for your pics, too.

Here’s my list of summer to do’s (adapted from last year’s list):

  • Go to happy hours in Century City and Downtown LA: two places I hardly ever go!
  • Go to the Yamashiro Farmer’s Market: At least once a month!
  • Hike Runyon: it’s across the street.  Enough said.
  • Take ballet classes: I took a class back in April and remembered why I love ballet so much.
  • Go back to Catalina Island with my friends!
  • Take tennis lessons: almost all of my friends play tennis…it’s one of those sports I’ve always wanted to learn but never did.  It’s time.
  • Remember to go to the beach (Malibu and the South Bay–the strand is AMAZING)
  • Remember to use my roof: the pool, the jacuzzi, have guests over, swim laps, etc.

**As always, drink responsibly this summer and, of course, only enjoy an adult beverage if you are over 21 years old**

Unique wedding gift ideas

unique wedding gift ideas

Ah, wedding season…somehow I’ve managed to skate by with just a wedding here and there and haven’t experienced anything like a few of my friends (some have nine weddings this summer!).  With that said, I had a close friend get married recently but I wasn’t invited to the actual wedding…so what do I get her?  I wanted to get something creative and different that she would really appreciate (unlike that super fun serving spoon).  Here are four unique wedding gift ideas that are anything but ordinary and definitely not on the registry.

The New York Times 36 Hours: The ultimate U.S. travel guide to cities and destinations featured in the New York Times popular column, “36 Hours”…perfect for any couple that loves to travel.

Jonathan Adler Key Keeper Box: The decorative Key Keeper box stores and conceals tiny trinkets…perhaps wedding rings when they’re not being worn?

Anniversary Wine Box: This box has three separate compartments for wine (not included), to be opened and enjoyed on the couple’s 1st, 3rd and 5th anniversaries. Engraved along the front is a tree bark pattern, customized with the “carved” initials of the happy duo.  So brilliant.

MOUTH Snacks Every Month: The whole mailing craze isn’t going anywhere any time soon and you can get practically anything delivered to your home on a monthly basis these days…but yeah, getting snacks delivered to your door?  I can’t think of any married couple who wouldn’t appreciate this.

Sponsored post: Picnic Essentials

The weather is finally starting to warm up, at least for most of the country. It’s funny because, here in LA, the weather is honestly heaven for most of the year, yet I hardly ever picnic.  This summer, I’m 100% dedicated to at least a few picnics, and I’ve found a few “essentials,” at least according to me.  No one wants to carry a ton, so I tried to keep this list to the bare minimum.

A picnic basket: For obvious reasons…you need something cute (and functional) to hold snacks, blankets, wine, etc.

Wine glass holders: I discovered these a few years back and guys, they are brilliant.  They work in grass and sand, so all your options are covered.

A picnic blanket: No one wants to sit in the grass so make sure to always have a lightweight blanket, which will also prevent grass stains.

Blackbox wine: Ok, so you may have seen my video a few weeks back where I RAVED about boxed wine or, more specifically, Blackbox wine.  Up until that point, I had actually never even had boxed wine before and I was shocked to find out how delicious (and convenient!) it is to drink wine from a box.  I put the box of white immediately in my fridge so it would stay chilled and just refilled as necessary.  What’s great is that they also have smaller versions, so you don’t have to carry a big box around for picnics.  I found a new summer obsession…

Available in ten delicious varietals and two sizes (3L and Tetra), Black Box Wine is pretty amazing; Black Box Wines is perfect for all your summer gatherings.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Black Box Wines. The opinions and text are all mine.

It’s June! And I have an update…

me and Kristen (GlitterNGlue.com) in our non-planned matching outfits

Happy Monday!  I’ve decided to stop doing The Monday Rundown, as it really just wasn’t inspiring me any more and I really want June to be a fresh start for my blog (and for me).  For now, I’ll keep Mondays open to really any topic, but I might throw in a round up here and there 🙂  As for June, I’m going to have a strong health/fitness theme this month so make sure to check back for lots of summer-themed pieces.  And, as always, feel free to comment and email me to let me know what you love, don’t love, etc.

xo,

Jamie
