One Bag & Three Beauty Obsessions

BAG:

Reed Krakoff Gym Bag: Granted, this is probably the fanciest gym bag EVER but I’m in love with it and clearly, wouldn’t actually use it at the gym.

BEAUTY:

Jouer Everyday Classic Wear Mascara: I’m a big fan of Jouer so obvisouly, this mascara didn’t let me down. It’s my favorite deep, dark black and it doesn’t flake!  Perfection.

Kate Somerville Dermal Quench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Treatment: Aside from just LOOKING cool, this anti-aging product turned Kate’s popular DermalQuench treatment into an at-home product!

Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo: I’m an avid dry shampoo user and I love that this particular dry shampoo is keratin-infused, adding even extra benefits for the hair.

Fashion Star: pure marketing genius

Say what you want, NBC’s Fashion Star is pure marketing GENIUS.  Seriously, there are just oh so many (too many) fashion reality shows these days but the fact that you can actually purchase the winning clothing ONE DAY AFTER the episode airs…well, it’s one of those “I wish I had thought of this” moments for me.  I’m also obsessed with Nicole Richie…but I digress.

Suave Professionals is the official hair sponsor for the show  (LOOK AT THOSE COOKIES) and the fabulous Theodore Leaf is the head stylist.  I was lucky enough to meet Theodore at an Emmy’s party back in 2010 and he is absoulutely lovely – I LOVE it when nice people achieve success!

Theodore doing my hair, circa 2010

Anywho, I watched the first episode and fell in love with Sarah’s blue dress, as did the rest of the country…selling out in 45 minutes online.  I had hopes that I would find some time to stop by the actual H&M store (ugh, I hate actually having to go to a store) but yeah, it never happened.  My girl Kristen pulled an amazing and ended up finding me the last size 4 and gave it to me for my birthday BUT, being that H&M sizing is as wonky as a lazy eye, the dress didn’t fit.  H&M- get your shit together and use ONE FIT MODEL.  GOD. (breathing heavy).

OK.  I searched eBay to go up a size and ended up finding a bigger size…for an extra $40, of course.  Not to worry, I sold the size 4 for $42 (a $22 bonus!) so I really only had to pay an extra $20 for the dress.  Whatever. I LOVE IT. (full disclosure: I bought it in black too.  UGH. I have problems).

sexy back.

Spring Beauty Picks!

So spring is here and I have a slew of new favorite beauty products that I have to share with you:

Kate Somerville Tanning Towelettes: When I first heard about tanning towelettes, I had my doubts…but these are the ulitmate in tanning wipes.  They’re paraben-free and the result is totally natural and streak-free.

Crabtree & Evelyn Creme De Menthe Lip Butter: Besides the fact that the packaging is uber spring, I’m loving the creamy mint taste that this lip butter leaves on my lips.  It’s super moisturizing and leaves the slightest tint of color on your pout.

Suave Dry Shampoo: I’m a huge fan of dry shampoo, and especially when it costs less than $10.  Suave’s version is fab and it also has a fun lemon scent that makes me feel like I’m on vacation.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Stay-There Eye Shadow: I’m always a little intimidated by eye shadow in any unordinary form but when I tried these out, I was pleasantly surprised.  The mineral-infused, paraben-free formula is perfect for delicate skin since it boasts soothing aloe and vitamin E. As a special bonus, each shade is named after a different breed of dog (!) and Bare Escentuals is making a charitable contribution to Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilitiesby providing highly trained assistance dogs.

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara: I loved the orginal, non-jumbo version, and it’s like one of my favotrite mascaras got even bigger and better.  This 100% natural mascara not only boots your lashes but it does so without all the nasty ingredients getting in your eyes and destroying your lashes.

2010 Emmy’s Recap

So on Sunday I had the privilege of attending the 2010 Emmy’s Red Carpet with my friend Aly.  We sat front row as the celebs strutted their stuff down the red carpet and highlights, oh…there were tons of highlights.  Aly and I both spotted our celeb twins (Angela from “The Office” for Aly and Jane Krakowski from “30Rock” for me) in addition to um, pretty much everyone who attended.  My faves? Two words- January Jones.  For some reason this dress doesn’t look as good in photographs but in person it actually made my jaw DROP.  Claire Danes comes in as number two for me…it’s hard for us fair-skinned blondes to pull off a fleshy color like this but she does it and she does it well.  Coming in at a trong third- well I try not to let my love for Jane Krakowski make me biased but you have to admit, she does look fabulous.

After the red carpet madness was over, Aly and I headed over to the Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills for a fun viewing party thrown by Suave.  Suave decided to hold an amazing contest where fans could vote on the beauty look that “Modern Family” star, Sofia Vergara, would wear at the awards show.  The winner was “Glamorous Waves” and Sofia was styled by Suave Professionals celebrity Jenny Cho.  The best part- Sofia’s entire award show look- the dress and Suave Professionals products used to create the winning look- will be auctioned off by the Clothes Off Our Back Fondation to benefit children’s charities across the glob.  And how great does she look?

After mingling with friends and sipping on a “Suave-tini,” my stylist, Theodore, blew my hair out for a fun Emmy’s party look.

Suave Naturals Mango Mandarin Refreshing Body Wash

So I was totally one of those 7th grade girls who bought all her beauty products at Bath & Body Works back in the day.  Now?  Well I’m definitely a lot more open-minded, yet still appreciate a good product regardless of price and a fancy name.  I showered this morning with Suave Naturals Mango Mandarin Refreshing Body Wash and I have to tell you, I had the best morning ever.  This product’s scent and quality is absolutely comparible to a higher-end version and the scent, ohhhh, the scent.  I basically felt like summer 1997 as soon as I lathered up.  A bonus?  12oz. cost only $3.50!  Yes, you read that correctly…$3.50.  Quality products at a bargain make my damn day.
