Today is the official day! The Hunger Games is out in theaters and boy, am I excited to not be at any movie theater today. In honor of the talked-about movie, Belvedere has created a “District 12” cocktail (and enough for a party!) that is pretty delicious.
Belvedere District 12
- 10 oz. Belvedere Pink Grapefruit vodka
- 15 oz. cranberry juice
- 2.5 oz. lemon juice
- 3.5 oz. Aperol
- 5 oz. orange juice
- a dash of bitters
- Add all ingredients into a pitcher and garnish with orange slices and lemons
Having read Hunger Games I do not think this drink represents District 12. District 12 is a mostly poor, coal mining district in which I do not believe had much access to Grapefruit, cranberries, lemons or oranges. IF anything this could represent District 11 as they are agricultural based, but they are still themselves pretty poor. This drink seems too happy to represent either of these districts.
