Korean Beauty

Korean beauty is all the rage, but I’ll be the first to admit that it’s a bit overwhelming…

I’ve had several beauty friends go to South Korea (and Little Korea right here in LA) and come back with a SLEW of goodies (Susan Yara on Racked LA, for one) and, let me tell you…I love this stuff.  Korean beauty, or “K beauty” as some call it, is like a magical world where anything goes.  They sell products that Americans would never even dream up and THAT is what I absolutely love about K beauty.

But, I mean, WHERE do you even start?  I fully admit that the fact there are so many unknown products and brands (at least to us A-MERicans) is definitely daunting, and that’s why I was super excited to discover MEMEBOX.

Ha, I sound like I’m trying to sell this subscription box on an infomercial, but THAT is how excited I was when I discovered this, I swear.  It’s perfect for anyone, like me, who WANTS to learn more about K beauty but needs a guide of sorts.

I recommend starting with their Korean Beauty Starter Kit well because, duh, it’s a good entry-level dig into K beauty and the products are fab.  You get:

Skinfood Black Sugar Cleansing Oil: The first step in Korean skincare is to begin by “double cleansing,” which requires two types of cleansers. First, start with a cleansing oil to gently remove oil-based impurities such as sebum, pollutants, waterproof makeup and sunblock. Follow up with a a foaming cleanser (see the product below) to achieve a more comprehensive cleanse without stripping your skin of essential oils.

It’s Skin Cleansing Foam (I got Green Grape): Cleansing foam is a water-based cleanser that gently removes water-based impurities such as sweat and dirt. This rejuvenates and purifies the skin while maintaining a healthy moisture level.

Goodal Phytorain Murumuru Seed Hydra Serum: This silky-soft serum is formulated with Amazonian Murumuru seed that helps calm, brighten, and maintain a balanced level of natural water-oil balance. With its unique blend of Murumuru Seed Butter, Cupuacu Butter, and Brazil Nut Seed Oil, this serum is made to smooth, nourish and build a lasting moisture barrier.

Tony Moly Bunny Mist: Aside from being ADORABLE, this mist will keep your skin hydrated throughout the day with this cute portable bunny! Formulated with peach, raspberry, and apple extracts to enrich, refresh and hydrate the skin anytime, anywhere, and great for anyone with dry skin (like me!)

BONUS Hydrogel Mask: This is Memebox’s own brand of a gel mask that has good-for-your-skin ingredients like baobab tree seed extract and chamomile.

SO, who’s with me and getting down with some K beauty???  Have you tried any other amazing Korean beauty products? Comment and let me know.
