Greg Lauren for Barneys New York

Greg Lauren for Barneys-2

You guys all know how picky I am about fragrance so, naturally, I was skeptical, but let me tell you…I’m pretty into Greg Lauren for Barneys New York.  If you’re not familiar, Barneys has started a Designer Fragrance Collection (genius!) and Greg Lauren is the second designer to create a custom scent for the iconic store.  Aside from the awesome packaging, the scent boasts a combination of tonka beans, vanilla and marine notes, plus it’s UNISEX (e.g. good for both men and women)…but back to the packaging.  Greg worked to create a completely unique design for each bottle, personalizing each one.  He distressed each bottle cap with a hammer (yes, a real hammer), chlorine, sandpaper and a little paint.  After mounting the “Greg Lauren” label on the front (with intentional creases, folds and tears), he hand-splashed paint onto each bottle and placed pieces of masking tape across it with his name in hand-written Sharpie.  I mean…if this isn’t art, I don’t know what is.  This also makes for a great holiday gift, just saying…

True Life: I Made My Dad Test Out Two Beard Shampoos

Jamie and dad

I recently saw THIS article about beard products and was honestly just…intrigued.  Obviously/hopefully, I will never have a beard of my very own but, in honor of MOvember, I enlisted Mr. William Stone (aka Daddy $ Bill) to test out the two different beard products that the Allure.com article mentions.  Granted, my dad is definitely not a beauty product expert by any means…I actually keep my own bottles of shampoo and conditioner at his house for when I visit, because if I didn’t I’d be stuck with some organic, all-natural, no scent product that doesn’t actually clean or condition your hair that he “found” at Whole Foods.  I believe I currently have some Fekkai stashed under his sink, and he knows that I’m the only one allowed to use it…fact.  Anywho, here’s what my dad had to say about the two beard products that he tested out.  If you have a man in your life with a beard, OR a man celebrating MOvember, you might want to read his thoughts…

Three Questions With Cynthia Nixon

CYNTHIA-NIXON-as-Miranda-Hobbes-in-New-Line-Cinemas-comedy-SEX-AND-THE-CITY-2-a-Warner-Bros.-Pictures-release.-Photo-by-Craig-Blankenhorn-16-960x1440

Anyone who reads this blog probably loooved the Sex and the City series and Miranda Hobbes was always one of my favorites.  Well now that the series is over, Cynthia Nixon (e.g. the real Miranda) has decided to help spread awareness about Rosacea, something I’ve mentioned on my blog a TON of times.  It’s crazy to think that nearly 16 million Americans suffer from the condition but only 78% even know what it IS…insane.  Rosacea is often mistaken for acne, but unfortunately acne treatments can make rosacea worse, but the good news is that seeing a derm can help can your rosacea under control (like mine).  Check out RosaceaFacts.com for more info and resources and, with out any further babbling, here are the three questions that I exclusively asked Cynthia:

Q: When did you first realize that you had rosacea and what did you do about it?

A: When I was in my 30’s, I started noticing that my cheeks would flush and blush and sometimes I would get pimples. I assumed it was acne that was coming back to haunt me from my teens. Once I spoke with my doctor I realized there were things that trigger my rosacea, like spicy foods and red wine, I knew what to avoid. She also gave me a prescription treatment to help manage my condition, which really helped get my rosacea under control.

Q: What are your favorite beauty products to use that help reduce inflammation and/or cover the redness?

A: I think what my dermatologist has really helped me identify is what I can do to help reduce flare-ups, rather than using make-up to cover it up. Some of that includes regularly using a prescription treatment, avoiding harsh cleansers and scrubs and my triggers, like red wine and spicy food.

Q: If you could give your 22-year-old self any advice, what would it be?

A: I think my advice would be to visit a dermatologist if there is something going on with your skin. Also, skin issues that pop-up as you age can’t be treated in the same manner as those you suffer from in your teens.

A Cat Holiday

Jamie Stone and Gea Ballerina

If you follow me on Instagram, you know how much I LOVE my two cats, Gemma and Gea.  Here’s the thing, cats sometimes get a bad wrap, which I strongly disagree, and that’s exactly why I’m really into the fact that Fancy Feast® is launching Feastivities.com.  I mean, it’s the ultimate gift destination for cat lovers with seven cat-inspired curated gifts…all of which I would be thrilled to receive, mind you.  Cats are definitely having a “moment” when it comes to fashion and I love each item featured in the gift guide, which includes fashion-forward cat items: cat jewelry by Salty Kisses Hawaii, Gingiber art print of a cute white cat, a Little Lark black cat tote, made by Cleo cat collar, Feline Intent cat teepee (this is awesome, btw), Rover cat bow tie and Silver Lotus cat jewelry.

The site is also offering a super cute ornament for a $2 donation while supplies last, and 100% of the donations will go directly to AdoptAPet.com, North America’s largest non-profit pet adoption charity that helps more than 13,000 shelter and rescue animals find homes. Bonus.

The holidays are all about treating your loved ones well, and that includes your cat(s) too.  I’m definitely putting some time aside for my girls, even if it’s something small like five minutes of toy chasing or an extra few minutes of a belly rub because, yes, my cats are weirdos and like their bellies rubbed.

P.S. Isn’t my Gea (aka Gigi Ballerina) the cutest?

This post was sponsored on behalf of Fancy Feast and Style Coalition, but all opinions are my own…as per usual.
