Reader Question: Should I Conceal My Mole?

Question: Hi Jamie,

I’ve got a mole on my cheek that is medium in tone…meaning that if left alone, it looks more like a blemish than a beauty mark. What do you think: cover it up or color it in?”

Thanks!

“M”

Hi “M”!

That’s a great question.  I’m a big believer that moles are beautiful, as long as you get them checked yearly by a derm (in case they are cancerous).  If your mole has been deemed “safe” then I say embrace it and don’t cover it up!  However, if it really bothers you, there are some great concealers and brushes that can help camoflauge it.  Right now I’m loving Jouer Cosmetics Age-Repairing Concealer because it’s got vitamin A and other ingredients that help promote skin repair.  It’s also important to use a good brush.  I love Bare Escentuals Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush, which is especially perfect for a mole since it will give you fuller, more concentrated coverage.

But before decide to cover up, try to think of Cindy Crawford…that mole made her famous.  And, if that doesn’t work, here’s a slideshow I found that features 10 hot celeb women with moles.

Xo,

Jamie

My Hair Extensions: Grand Finale

As you’ve been reading, I’ve had Hair Dreams hair extensions in for the last several months and, as all good things come to an end, it was time for them to come out.  I couldn’t have been happier with the results and you can read HERE to see all my other posts and photos.

The photo above is me (and my BFF Dawn) post-extensions and you can see that my hair, though shorter and finer, is still perfectly healthy and not damaged at all.  Pretty impressive after nearly 6 months of extensions!  The most common question I get is “well how long is your real hair?”  My “real hair” is actually quite long and grows really fast but I love my extensions for volume and thickness.  All fine-haired girls need to know that you can make your hair thicker with extensions and, since they’re made from real hair, the extensions actually blend really well into your natural hair…no one ever knew I had extensions in, trust.  I decided to give my hair a “rest” for 3-4 months and then I’ll go in for another round of Hair Dreams.  I can’t WAIT.

Inspired By: Ice Cream

DEMETER Fragrance Vanilla Ice Cream: It’s basically just summer vacation in a bottle.  Enough said.

Freeze 24-7 IceCream Double Scoop Intensive Anti-Aging Moisturizer: Besides an awesome name, this nourishing moisturizer (perfect for my dry skin!) firms and even tones the skin for immediate long term benefits.

I Love…Vanilla & Ice Cream Shower Smoothie: I mean, who doesn’t, right?  I love an awesome body wash, as you probably know, so smelling like an ice cream shop in the shower always makes me uber happy.

Slatkin & Co. Root Beer Float Candle: A treat that always delights…sweet root beer poured over pure vanilla ice cream, with a touch of nutmeg will literally FLOAT through the room when you light this candle.

Philosophy Marshmallow Cone Lip Shine: The taste of marshmallow ice cream that’s fat free?  I’ll take it.  This lip shine is also super hydrating and really softens your lips.

I decided to start my diet again, after gaining about 4lbs, and this Apricot Mustard Baked Chicken looks DELICIOUS, minus the apricot…cause, you know, no fruit allowed – MilkandMode.com

I Love It. You Win It: Hourglass Cosmetics No. 28 Primer Serum

I’m pretty into primers so when a friend told me that I simply must try out Hourglass Cosmetics, I obviously went right for their No. 28 Primer Serum.  It’s super silky and luxurious and helps strengthen the skin’s natural moisture barrier, even out pores and create a smooth, even texture for makeup.  And, fun fact, the “28” stands for the fact that the formula includes 14 essential oils, 10 lipid-rich plant oils and four vitamins.  And for you math genius’, that number totals 28.

Want one? You should.

GIVEAWAY!  Follow me on Twitter and leave a comment on this post letting me know why you wanna try out this fab primer.  Contest ends August 28th at 5pm PST.

UPDATE: Many readers have emailed me saying that they’re having issues posting comments on my blog. If you are having trouble, send me an email instead and I’ll count that toward an entry 🙂 Email: QueenoftheQuarterLifeCrisis@gmail.com

The Monday Rundown

Oscar Blandi Texture & Volume Spray: Texture and volume?  I like it. Oscar is a master so it’s no surprise that this product does exactly what it says – lasting body and texture and flexible hold.

Monroe Black Chiffon Wrap Dress: Love this dress.  The belt (sold separately) really makes the dress BUT I still love an LBD, an this one is no exception.

Alex Elman Chardonnay: I’m a big wine lover and this Argentinian chardonnay is pretty amazing.  What I love even more (aside from the taste) is the fact that this wine is organic, which involves no barrel aging and, of course, no harmful pesticides.

Anthropologie Pieced Geom Mirror: I’ve been shopping around for a new mirror for my bedroom and I’m really liking this Anthro piece.  Thoughts?
