Olympic Beauty

Butter London The Heavy Medal Collection: It’s pretty much the winner’s circle…and I love it.  Gold, Silver and Bronze your nails up while the games are on.

Sephora by OPI “USA! USA!” Jewelry Top Coat: Red, white and blue…in a bottle.  All at once.  I also love the name that makes you just want to CHANT.

Stila “Lovely In London” Travel Palette: Though it’s not technically made for the Olympics, I’m loving the London theme of this palette and it contains everything you need (makeup-wise) while going to the games.

COVERGIRL 2012 London Olympic Games Collection: This limited-edition collection boasts the trademark Olympic rings, along with the P&G logo, and is available at mass retailers nationwide.

AND, for Olympic ring-inspired nails, Fashionista has a good how-to HERE.

The Monday Rundown

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray: It’s totally a California summer thing but lately I’ve been really into the beach hair look.  Bumble & Bumble makes the go-to product to get those surfer girl waves.

Beveled Glass Jewelry Box: I love the idea of showing off your prized jewels.  I’d use this particular jewelry box to house some of the nicer pieces that I own, but don’t necessarily wear as much.

J. Crew Woven Bangle: I love, love the three different textures in this gold bangle…you can never go wrong with accessories from the Crew.

Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Truffle Oil: I found this recipe a few weeks back and have made it oh..about four times now, lol.  It’s delicious and super easy.

Reader Question: Vacation Makeup

Question: Hi Jamie!  I’m going to Hawaii…I like to wear makeup but don’t want to look done up.  What are my options?

“D”

Hi “D”!

Great question because that’s something that every girl struggles with, especially if you have problem skin (like most of us do).  Here are my top picks:

L’Oreal Sublime Bronze Clear Self-Tanning Gel: Honestly, the easiest way to avoid wearing makeup is to “perfect” your skin…and going a shade or two darker is the best way to camoflauge imperfections.  I’d self-tan the night before you leave (after showering, shaving and scrubbing) to prep your skin.

ARCONA REOZONE 40: You can’t forget the SPF (cause I won’t let you!)!  ARCONA makes several good SPF products that are broad-spectrum (protects you from both UVA and UVB rays) and are also suitable for all skin types.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20: A tinted moisturizer is your best bet as far as foundation while on vacation at the beach.  This Tarte version is super light, goes on smooth and provides just enough coverage…bonus for the additional SPF 20.

Maybelline Volum’Express The Falsies Waterproof mascara: A little waterproof (very important!) mascara is just enough to make your eyes pop…no eyeshadow or eyeliner necessary in the sand.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15: This lip treatment is standard issue in the beauty world.  I love that it’s super moisturizing (again, with SPF) and also provides a light hint of color.

Have so much fun on your trip!

xo,

Jamie

Happy National Tequila Day!

In my experience, you’re either a rum/gin person or a tequila/vodka person, and I’m definitely the latter.  Today is national tequila day so naturally, I plan on going home, going to the gym and topping off my night with a quick tequila shot.  But just in case you’re not as gross as I am (you’re probably not), I wanted to share my favorite Margarita mixer, Refine Mixers.  It’s zero calories so you just add the tequila and that’s the only calories that you intake…usually less than 100 calories, depending on the tequila and how much you put in.

My latest trick: add in some jalapeno slices!  This tip comes courtesy of my friend Jen, who is a master chef (in my opinion, at least) and is jalapeno-obsessed.  Note, this tip is NOT for people who don’t like spice in their life.

For even more tequila cocktail recipes, check out this LA Times article and have a fab national tequila day!

The Monday Rundown

Rosemary Roasted Almonds: I always snack on almonds but this recipe takes them to another level.  I’m also obsessed with rosemary, btw.

Kiehl’s Orange Flower & Lychee Liquid Body Cleanser: I’m a big Kiehl’s fan and so naturally I was super excited when they sent me products from their new Aromatic Blends collection.  They’re all delicious but I especially love this exotic fusion.  Who doesn’t love lychee?

Sole Society Ryder Block Heel Sandal: At first glance I usually don’t like a thick, block heel like this but after seeing them in person, I’m really into the whole python mixed with patent look.

Jonathan Adler Prozac container: Jonathan makes the kind of home decor that I covet (along with a million other people) and I especially love his quirky, kind of ironic decorations such as this Prozac container.
