90210 senior prom vs. Beverly Hills 90210 senior prom

I think it’s officially safe to say that when it comes to the battle of the 90210’s, the original will always win.  You see, the CW network is smart and they used the former stars (Jennie Garth, Shannon Doherty, Tori Spelling, etc.) to lure us original fans in and basically get us hooked…and it worked.  However, when I watch the new episodes lately, I find myself saying “god, where the hell is Kelly?!  Your sister is MANIC.”  And here in lies the problem.  I’m really just so over 90210 2.0…and last night’s incredibly boring senior prom episode may have just been the straw that broke the camel’s back.

How can you compare an episode that started the legendary “Donna Martin graduates” chant to some stupid story line with Naomi and her geeky (yet still very attractive) boyfriend.  Seriously?  These photos have me remembering the GOOD times (and I can still hear the chanting…”Donna Martin graduates, Donna Martin graduates…”)

Note: make sure to also check out my Beverly Hills 90210 tour from when I first moved to LA.

Redken Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist

If you follow me on Twitter, then you know that, sadly, I had my extensions taken out on Saturday (more to come on this). The loss of my gorgeous (store-bought) hair actually put a huge damper on my day, oddly enough, and when I came home and took a look at what I was left with, I immediately went over to my “beauty closet” and started fumbling around for hair-reviving products, serums, volumizing sprays, basically anything that I thought might possibly make me feel like I hadn’t just had 90% of my hair removed. When I saw Redken’s new Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist, I figured “hey, shiny hair might make me feel better”…and I was right.

I’ve always given shine mists the old side-eye since often times they can make your hair greasy or weigh hair down but Redken’s version gave my hair a pleasant sheen but there was no stickiness or weight added. It’s great after using a flat iron, for a gleaming, polished finish and it contains ingridents known to boost shine, condition and nourish hair like Camelina Oil and Vitamin B5.

Obsessed: English Weddings Hats

So I can not lie, I honestly couldn’t care less about the royal wedding.  I know, I know…I get that it’s a huge deal for England and sure, I’m happy for William and Kate but it was just a little too much for me.  However, I DVR’d a bit of the ceremony (I figured hey, it’s probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch, right?) and I can’t stop obsessing over the amazing unique hats that everyone was wearing.  I mean WHAT a fantastic concept.  Weddings don’t happen super often so why not take the opportunity to dress up and express yourself via “head art”?

After looking through tons of photos, I’ve selected my top 6 choices; some are argued to be the fashion mistakes of the event but I don’t care!  Most of the hats were created by England’s resident hat guru, Philip Treacy.  Apparently Philip has been designing hats for celebs and royals alike for years; and, according to InStyle.com, the Irish-born designer has even designed hats for American stars such as Lady Gaga, Demi Moore and Sarah Jessica Parker– love it.  Here are my favorite hats from the big deal (and yes, I don’t care what you, Gawker or anyone else says, I looooooove Princess Beatrice’s Lady Gaga hat- it is EVERYTHING.)  Which were your favorites?

Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice in Philip Treacy hats

David Beckham, Victoria Beckham in a Philp Treacy hat

Charlene Wittstock in Akris

Sophie Winkleman (designer unknown)

Tara Palmer-Tomkinson in Philip Treacy

Kitty Spencer and guests (designer unknown but these girls look like they’d be on “The Hills” London)

Elizabeth Grant Light Up Your Lips Gloss

So I’m really picky when it comes to lipgloss.  And why not?  There are a trillion different kinds to choose from so why settle?  Well I recently tried Elizabeth Grant Light Up Your Lips Gloss and now I have a new favorite.  Moisturizing Torricelumn makes lips appear fuller and smoother and I love a good high-pigment gloss that is NOT sticky.  There’s also an LED light in the wand of the gloss with a small mirror attached so you can apply on-the-go.  Loving it.

Sponsored Post: L’OCCITANE Shea Butter Products

So I’ve been a fan of the skincare brand L’OCCITANE for years and i’m especially into their shea butter products.  After doing a little research, I learned that the french skincare brand sources the ingredient from Burkina Faso, Africa and uses the super ingredient in a ton of body, hair and skin products because of its uber moisturizing element.  Shea butter is known to protect, soothe and heal the skin and personally, I actually really love the texture…it makes me feel like I’m slathering on something luxurious every time.  Right now I’m loving the Ultra Rich Face Cream, especially perfect for dry skin like mine.

LiQWD Professional Q-Keratin Smoothing Treatment

So I’ve written before about how great LiQWD products are and now I’m currently obsessing over their Professional Q-Keratin Smoothing Treatment.  After the Brazilian Blowout backlash, it’s amazing to find a product that’s 100% free of formaldehyde (all aldehydes, in fact) and methylene glycol, which are all ingredients that are in the Brazilian Blowout and totally bad for your health.  The Q-Keratin Smoothing Treatment lasts for 12 weeks and I love the fact that it doesn’t make your hair stick-straight (so 2002), but will instead completely get rid of any frizz, otherwise known as my mortal enemy.  You can still wear your hair straight, wavy, curly, etc. but minus the disgusting poof.

According to LiQWD, they use a quinoa protein, which has a very heavy molecular weight and bonds to both the keratin already in the hair, as well as the keratin in the product.  Very weird science but also very genius.

Pure Glamour With YSL Volupte Sheer Candy

So these are seriously the most glamorous lipsticks IN THE ENTIRE WORLD.  What is it, you ask?  YSL Volupte Sheer Candy.  I’ve blogged before about how much I adore these lipsticks, and people, I don’t even like lipstick.  It’s the packaging.  I feel like a genuine lady when I put this on.  The Sheer Candy line will hit Sephora in just a few days (May, to be exact) and in everywhere else in June for $30.
