Completely Bare Bum Facial

So bikini season is coming and one body part that’s often forgotten is your bum.  Cindy Barshop, owner of completely bare spa in New York, developed a very useful bikini/bum facial to minimize the damage from continual trauma from a bad wax, excessive shaving and ingrown hairs resulting in discoloration, scarring and hyper-pigmentation.  The treatment also treats acne, age spots and rough skin on the buttocks, ensuring that skin looks flawless in even the most itsy-bitsy of bikinis.  At the end of the treatment, skin feels baby smooth to the touch!  If you’re in New York, you should definitely check it out.

Step 1: Cleansing the area

Step 2: Crystal Microdermabrasion – exfoliates dead skin and scars of ingrown hairs

Step 3: Steaming – to help with the extractions of ingrown hairs and acne, as well as open pores

Step 4: Soothing Organic Mask – to close the pores and balance the skin

Step 5: LED Light Therapy -Green LED reduces melanoma production and pigmenation, BlueLED prevents bacteria and acne, Yellow LED detoxifies.

Unique summer fitness tips from T.J. Johnson

So as of late, I have been fitness and workout-obsessed.  Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the whole LA thing…who knows.  All I do know is that when I was given the chance to chat with fitness expert and celebrity trainer T.J. Johnson, I jumped at the chance.  Check out T.J’s unique fitness tips to kick start your summer workout routine.

MAKE A SUMMER RESOLUTION – Sit down and decide on a few realistic goals.  Lost 10 pounds by fall, strengthen your upper body, tone your abdomen…write them down on a piece of paper and carry them with you.  This little reminder will help you stay on track and keep you from reaching for that midnight snack.

SWEAT, THEN SLEEP – Whether you are supplementing your workout routine or just need to jumpstart a new one, adding twenty minutes to the end of each day will give you an extra boost to your metabolism while you sleep, while also helping you burn the day’s calories.  As an added bonus, before-bdetime exercise will also help to clear your mind, relieve stress and keep you away from tempting desserts.  Jog around your neighborhood or even jump rope in your living room.

KEEP THEM GUESSING – Now that you’ve got your routine down, it may be time to switch things up.  As you notice that your workout becomes easier, your body may not need to work as hard to complete the session.  Keep your body guessing, while revving up your metabolism, by changing your workout routine every few weeks.

Skin Cancer Awareness Month

So if you don’t already know, May is national Skin Cancer Awareness Month.  This is something especially near and dear to my heart, as my closest Aunt passed away of skin cancer when she was only 43 years old back in 1996.  Luckily, more and more people are becoming aware of how harmful the sun is to our skin and health but it’s still not enough.  One in five Americans will STILL get skin cancer every year and even though it’s the most preventable cancer, it’s also one of the most deadly.  Can you even believe that 50% of Americans don’t even use sunscreen?!

Skincare giant La Roche-Posay created this great new public awareness campaign called “Save Our Skin” in hopes to increase awareness. For every person who signs up for the campaign, La Roche Posay will donate money to The Skin Cancer Foundation and The Women’s Dermatological Society.  In the meantime, here are my current SPF favorites.

Too Faced Love Lisa Luxury Lip Balm SPF 15 – People often forget that, yes, even your lips can sunburn.  This product is inspired by the brand founder’s sister, Lisa, who is battling stage 4 melanoma (and kicking it’s butt).  A huge portion from sales goes towards the Love Lisa Melanoma Research Foundation Grant to help find a cure.

La Roche-Posay Anthelious 45 for Face -My complexion is tricky at best.  I’ve tried a lot of “for the face” sunblocks and this one is by FAR my favorite.  It’s super light but you still get excellent protection from the sun, with out the breakouts.

Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock SPF 70 – I already listed this cooling mist as one of my Coachella essentials but I use this on my body pretty much any time I go to the beach.  As a freckled white girl, the sun gets me hot faster than most and this is the perfect cooling agent.

A Night of LUX: A Fashionable Fight Against Cancer

So the other night, the lovely Sydne Summer, of ThinkThruFashion.com, invited me to drive down to Orange County with her to attend an amazing charity event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  The society’s own Woman of the Year nominee, Elizabeth Wahler, hosted the event at her a-mazing Corona del Mar estate and I’m talking breathtaking ocean views, infinity pool, garden, the works.  The event auction had some really fab fashion items and Sydne even bid on a sicko YSL bag…but unfortunately, she was outbid!  Regardless, we were happy to pose for pics, sip cocktails and enjoy the spectacular view for such a great cause.
