The anti-Valentine’s Day gift guide

So yeah…I don’t have a Valentine this year.  I actually think I may have jinxed myself back in the 11th grade when I decided to wear all black on Valentine’s Day, in protest, naturally.  But I digress.  You won’t find some “win your way into his heart” type of Valentine’s Day round up on THIS blog.  In fact, last year I did a “V-day, not VD” mini gift guide that featured sexually named hair gel and a quote from Lady GaGa about carbs and good sex.  Anyway, here’s my 2010 version- a rundown of super cool Valentine’s Day must-haves that you can use with someone or alone.

Bristols6 makes the sexiest Nippies, which, let’s be honest are cute for under clothing or just while wearing nothing else at all.

Booty Parlor Don’t Stop Massage Candle is pure genius, in my book.  It sounds too good to be true but this candle is actually also massage oil.  Yup, that’s right, ladies.  Does your BF have a hot wax fetish?  I hope not…but if he does, this is a good compromise.  The wax is made from a rich blend of shea butter, vitamins A &E, jojoba, olive and coconut oils and clean-burning natural soy wax.

Too Faced Mood Swing Lipgloss is emotionally-activated and high on shine.  Personally, I’m interested to see if a guy would even notice if I HAD lipgloss on but it would be pretty hilarious if, after burping at dinner, your lips suddenly turned hot pink.  Just saying.

Diptyque, one of my most favorite brands, came out with this fabulous candle – Rooibos vanilla, to be exact.  And, a portion of sales from this candle helps to provide medicine to people living with HIV.

I mean, this is probably NOT the most appropriate Valentine’s Day item if you actually do have a Valentine…but if you don’t, this is the only thing you really need (well, except maybe what you’re about to see…keep reading).  LUSH The Ex Factor bath bomb was inspired by a plan to rid the world of the memories of useless men, something every girl can use!

These look so innocent, don’t they?  Body Spa Vibrating Bath Sponges will add a little extra oomph while you’re taking your nice, relaxing bubble bath on the big day.

Beauty editor favorites that I finally got around to trying

So working in the beauty industry, I’m privy to which products are REALLY amazing and what the beauty editors truly love.  I’ve been meaning to try these four classics for quite some time and I have to say, the rumors are true…they are all amazing.

Lancome Flash Bronzer Self Tanner for Legs – Lucky magazine’s Beauty Director, Jean Godfrey June, is a major fan of this product and for good reason.  It’s hard to find a good self-tanner that doesn’t streak or look too orange…this product is pure genius.

CARGO Bronzer – I had first heard about this bronzer about four years ago from a Beauty Assistant friend.  She is just as fair as I am and insisted that it’s the only bronzer that she’s tried and loved.

Dr. Brandt pores no more – More than one beauty editor has raved about this pore refiner.  In fact, a former Life & Style editor actually even carried it around in her purse!  This little wonder makes pores practically invisible and also absorbs excess oil.

Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer – It’s hard to find the perfect concealer; this product has won multiple beauty awards and is a makeup artist favorite.  It blends sublimely to expertly conceal dark circles, spots and imperfections.

Lady GaGa on The Hills

So I can still remember watching this episode and  thinking “my GOD, who is this freak?” and now, well, she is THE Lady GaGa.  I came across this clip and had to share.  Hilarious.

Living Proof Full Thickening Cream

So I often rave about the Living Proof line so when they launched a product specifically designed to thicken hair, I knew it was no joke.  I’ve used hundreds of “thickening” products and I’d say about 80% of them don’t work OR cause such a mess that it’s not even worth using.  Living Proof Full Thickening Cream is the real deal.  In true form, I decided to try this with out reading the directions first so yeah, I loaded on a bit too much to my root area.  Honestly, I need this product more by my roots than at my ends but I’ll have to use less next time, which they say is normal because you have to “play” with the produt to figure out exactly how much is right for you.  Anyway, they have a great how-to video that I highly suggest watching to avoid my own mistake.  And, as a bonus, my hair was also less frizzy than usual!  Seriously, what can’t this company do?

Project Taylor and Brad

So I’m mildly obsessed with all things Rachel Zoe and when I saw this amazing feature on the less publicized Taylor and Brad, I had to read and share.  Taylor’s gone off on her own but Brad is still on Team Zoe but it’s completely adorbale that they’re still friends.  Make sure you also check out the additional photos were they style each otherPaperMag is pretty genius.
