Get The Look: Alexa Chung

Get the look Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung looked absolutely stunning at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival – 8th Annual CHANEL Artists Dinner.  I’m loving her radiant (yet very pale) skin, with just a hint of lip and eye.  Here’s how to get the look:

Tarte Maracuja Miracle Foundation SPF 12-Hour Broad Spectrum SPF 15: Alexa has great skin but her skin actually looked FLAWLESS at this event…and I don’t say that lightly.  Tarte’s foundation gives great coverage AND SPF 15 for us fair ladies, like Alexa and myself.

Laura Mercier Lip Glace in “Bare Pink”: A beautiful mauve-pink shade, with lots of moisture, is key here.

NARS Blush in “Orgasm”: It’s the go-to blush for almost every makeup artist, and for a good reason.  It looks good on almost everyone and you don’t end up looking like a clown.

Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in “Perversion”: Alexa doesn’t have a ton of eye makeup on but you can clearly see a beautiful line of liquid eyeliner.  I love Urban Decay’s version since it’s so easy to apply and doesn’t smudge or streak.

Pevonia Spa Clinic Redness Relief

Pevonia Spa Clinic Redness Relief

I’m into it.  I’ve been “battling” Rosacea for the past few years; and I say “battling” because, honestly, I don’t have a very severe case of it.  Usually a little light foundation or tinted moisturizer covers up my rosy cheeks but every once in awhile, things get a little…rough, let’s call it.  As an FYI, Rosacea is a skin condition that primarily affects Caucasians of North Western European descent and is often referred to as “the Irish flush” or “the curse of the Celts'” since it’s so common in people from England, Ireland, etc.  Hi, welcome to MY LIFE.  Sunblock?  Check.  But how do I prevent my own natural redness?  Yeah…it’s been an experiment, since there’s no “cure” for Rosacea.

I recently tried out the Pevonia Spa Clinic Redness Relief system and I’m LOVING it.  The products are packed with soothing ingredients like green tea, a known “calm the eff down” botanical that is common in skincare products, and of course, the key to any skincare regimen: consistency.  The four steps (cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer) are easy to follow and my skin always feels cool and moisturized after I use these.  Here’s what they are/do:

1. Cleanser: calms, cools skin and combats bacteria

2. Toner: reduces redness and soothes skin

3. Serum: relieves redness, sensitivity and blotchiness

4. Moisturizer: hydrates and protects skin from UV rays and irritants

Just Extensions Launch Event, Presented by Sexy Hair, and Hosted By Me!

JEtop

My love for all things extensions only grows bigger and bigger by the day, which is why I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to host the launch event for LA’s first hair extension bar: Just Extensions.  The event was presented by SexyHair, an awesome hair product line that has a great selection of products that are safe to use with hair extensions, which is totally key for maximum wear.  Sexy Hair’s Stylist, Laura Hickenboth, gave tips to all guests on how to maintain extensions and what products were best with each specific technique, which was incredibly informative.

Just Extensions, founded by Riqua Hailes, offers extension lovers an alternative to the long application hours and over-priced services typically associated with getting extensions.  Whether you are looking to add length, volume or color, the experienced “extensionists” and licensed stylists can help you achieve the exact look that you want.  Just Extensions also allows you to choose your preferred method of application, which I love, and their stylists can help guide you on the best application for you, based on your hair’s texture.

April Favorites!

It’s April favorites time!  Here are the products that are really making me smile this month:

Blackheart Beauty skull nail polish: The bottle alone is brilliant.

Jouer Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in “Bellini”: I’m loving this glossy lip balm…also, of course, named after one of my favorite cocktails.

Herbal Essences Shine Collection Shampoo: Hi, 1997.  This is Jamie…and I miss you.

Narciso Rodriguez For Her perfume: Hands down, my go-to fragrance…and it’s pretty irresistible at that.

LATHER Coconut Foaming Body Scrub: It actually smells and feels like coconut, which I love.

Inspired By: The Ocean

Inspried by the ocean

For someone who lives in Los Angeles, I really do NOT spend enough time in the ocean, and yeah, I’m hoping that will change this summer.  In the meantime, here are some awesome ocean-inspired beauty products that I adore.

Deborah Lippmann “Mermaid’s Dream” nail polish: I’m pretty much obsessed with this color and plan on wearing it all summer.  I’m a sucker for anything mermaid-related. Fact.

Aqualillies for Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eye and Cheek Palette: I love anything Tarte but this palette definitely takes the cake.  It’s a great combo of neutral eye colors, mixed with brights for your cheeks.

SachaJuan Ocean Mist: Summer in a BOTTLE.  That’s really all that I have to say.

AHAVA Dead Sea Salt Bath Salt: I still have dreams that one day I might be able to swim in the Dead Sea (thanks for nothing, Birthright! lol) But right now, I’m happy settling for this bath salt product, straight for the ocean I want to swim in.

Kiehl’s Cryste Marine Ultra Riche Lifting and Firming Cream: My oh my, Kiehl’s…clearly I was excited to try this because, get this, the cryste marine flower grows on rock formations aside the Mediterranean Sea and is known for its unique ability to boost cell renewal for a supple skin effect.

Bumble & Bumble Seaweed Shampoo: I love the look and feel of this mild, moisturizing, daily shampoo that has marine extracts that feed roots, adds shine and keeps scalps happy.

Tone Ocean Therapy Deep Sea Extracts & Pearl Extracts Body Wash: This is literally the ocean, only cleaner and more fun to wash with.  It’s got pearl extract, sea kelp and vitamin E, all great for the skin…mermaids everywhere are totally jealous.

Aaaah, Coachella.  Let me tell you, I always get a serious case of FOMO (fear or missing out) when this time of year rolls around, except for the two years that I actually went.  But then, I remember how awesome this city is when totally empty.  I’m actually really pumped for a traffic-free LA weekend…but hey, if you ARE heading to Indio, check out my tips, and tips from other lovelies like NadineJolie, PennyChic and SydneStyle before you get in your car and head to the 5.
