Evaluate your hand writing. Weird, isn’t it? The fact that we all use computers now makes it really difficult to hand write a note or simple sentence! Also, let me know if you’re an LA-based manicurist who wants to volunteer! (image)

I don’t know what it is about summer but I always seem to crave two things: a new heat styling protector a new pair of favorite sunglasses. It’s true. I’m actually pretty particular about BOTH items, so when I find a brand that I like, I tend to stick with it for quite awhile. And hence, right now I’m completely obsessing over my two latest discoveries:
Redken Iron Shape 11: Believe it or not, it’s actually really hard to find a good heat protectant spray for DRY hair. Most of the products I try, you’re supposed to apply the product while the hair is damp but let’s be honest, a lot of the time when I need to quickly heat style, it’s actually a touch-up and it’s on dry hair. Anywho, this Redken version protects your hair from heat for up to 450 degrees, is lightweight and adds shine and helps to reduce frizz. We have a winner.
Made Eyewear: Even though I have an oval face, which is pretty much the universal face shape for sunglasses, I’m still kind of picky when it comes to my shades. I went to the launch event for Made Eyewear and was 100% impressed. Basically, you can customize everything, which is awesome. I picked out the frame shape, color, side colors, texture, lens color and, get this, you can even engrave these babies. I chose a clear frame with black sides that are textured with an animal print (obvi). I also have “Jamie” engraved on the inside, which is a nice hidden little surprise. Another cool thing? You can virtually try on each frame design on the website just using your web cam. I know it’s been done before but I tried it out a few hours ago and it’s extra cool because it’s a live image of you and the glasses move around with you- very 2013.
Soooo, I cut my hair (watch video above). I have to admit, as much as I prefer having long hair, I feel free! My hair is much healthier, shinier, bouncier, and every other word ending in “ier” so make sure to check out my video and let me know what you think of my new ‘do. The lovely Karine at Fekkai Melrose Place fixed up my highlights and also gave me an eight-product restorative treatment.
It’s time for May Favorites! Truthfully, I still have a LOT to learn about making YouTube videos, but I genuinely do enjoy making my monthly favorites videos. Ha, my manager would be so proud! It’s not that I’m uncomfortable in front of the camera (quite the opposite, actually), but I have absolutely no eye for editing and/or filming. So there’s that. I’d much rather be in my pajamas, hair in pony tail, zit cream on face, writing a blog post. Truth. With that said, I digress, and present to you…my favorite things for May!
Drybar Happy Hour Weightless Shampoo: My love for Drybar is never-ending so when they launched a line of products, I knew they would be amazing. I adore the Happy Hour shampoo…it’s a cleansing shampoo that still lathers nicely, which is true perfection.
Chan Luu EFI Combo Bracelet: This bracelet is amazing for summer and I love the combo of neon mixed with black and white…summer trends collide.
Diego The Cat Pillow: I don’t even try to pretend that I’m NOT a crazy cat lady (I so am), and I love this cat pillow…it’s so real-looking that it might actually scare your guests.
Caprese: With summer fast approaching, I’ve been studying this list of no-bread sandwiches…at the top of my list? Caprese. Bam,
Ok, so I’m a big believer that there really isn’t an answer to the “best” mother’s day gift, since the “best” gift really depends on your mother. But hey, these are gifts that I know MY mom would absolutely love…and that’s good enough for me.
1. Maya Brenner Letter Necklace: What’s not to love about the initials of your children (Jamie and Melissa)?! I feel like any mother would adore these dainty necklaces.
2. Jouer Cosmetics Deluxe Leather Train Case: I don’t know about you guys but my mom’s makeup case is a complete disaster. I want to get my mom something classic, simple and chic for her to store her daily makeup products.
3. Flavor Infused Water Bottle: Unlike myself, my mom doesn’t really like drinking water. From what I hear, infusing water with fruit seems to help the anti-water people get it down in a somewhat enjoyable way.
4. Drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer: I don’t think my mom has purchased a new blow dryer since the early 90s, which is exactly why I want to get my mom a super modern, turbo-infused blow dryer that will literally knock her socks off.
5. Pottery Barn Glass Cloche Jewelry Storage: There’s something really elegant and whimsical about this jewelry holder and, funny enough, my mom’s name starts with an “A,” so I can already imagine what my mom’s jewels will look like in this holder.
Chloë Sevigny basically trashes LA, in the funniest way possible, while also complimenting it. This is the kind of shit that I love more than life. – Refinery29
